Figured it's worth a new thread for a bit of a laugh at Lampard's bitter, bitter post match comments:
That's just...not why they didn't win the game. I thought the free kick we got was pretty harshly given but just watch our goal again. We didn't score from the free kick. Carson makes an absolute pig's ear of Freeman's shot - I think he should have held it but even if you disagree, he should be palming that well away from the danger zone. Instead, he limply pats it away, Wells holds it up and picks out Cameron who is completely unmarked to score. How's the ref lost them the game?
We had 13 shots to their 14, with players out of position in both full back slots. They score from a full-on defensive brain-fart, we hit the bar and missed a sitter and it was a very even match. Meanwhile, McClaren points out the ref made decisions that "cheesed off" both sides (true), that it was an exciting game of football (true) and that a draw was probably a fair result (true). Big difference from his full-on wrong (but kind of understandable self-preservation) post-match interviews of late.
Lampard not giving us a shred of credit. Glad with the point and look forward to Derby (sorry, Frank Lampard's Derby) delivering their annual choke come early next year.
"We deserved to win the game and we didn't - and this is a fact - because of a refereeing decision. It was not a foul by Tomori - absolutely not a foul. He gave a foul and they scored from the free-kick. It's a mistake. It was obviously not a free-kick. Tomori got the ball.
"My players were very good, they gave absolutely everything and we lost (points) because of one decision. There were lots of decisions, it's not worth me going into them. The critical one is that one that gave them the goal, but there were lots more."
