Next up:
I think changes should be made only where necessary - ie to players who are on the bench but haven't seen much action yet, or in the case of Hall, returning to match fitness.
We know Hall is expected to play some part and Baptiste could fill in the rest of his minutes. No real need to play Lumley or Hamalainen, so defence: Ingram/Kakay/Hall/Lynch or Leistner/Bidwell.
Cousins and Manning should get a start and possibly Osayi-Samuel. Midfield: Manning/Cousins/Two of: Scowen/Freeman/Luongo/Osayi-Samuel/Eze.
Who plays up front out of Syllya/Smith/Smyth/Washington is anyone's guess.
Looks like Wszolek is out of favour unless he's injured.
It would be a mistake to start with Goss/Chair/Oteh as they haven't been named in the match day 18 yet and starting them would indicate a secondary attitude to this competition. No probs if they are on the bench.
Peterboro have played 2 and won 2 so will be in confident mood and hopeful of an upset.
Possible team: Ingram Kakay/Hall/Lynch/Bidwell Scowen/Manning/Cousins/Eze Smith/Washington
Lumley/Baptiste/Hamalainen/Freeman/Osayi-Samuel/Smyth/Sylla

We all know the outcome of this one. Another pointless exercise in wasting peopleβs time and money. Congrats to Peterborough, though, and good luck to them in the next round.

I know, for a change, let's play most of our reserve team and a few from the youth team.

Was looking at our history on the webpage below. We have got to Round 4 once in the last 22 attempts at this cup...... Also, the last 20 goal a season striker we had was Andy Thomson - 17 years ago. Before that it was Sir Les, just 22 years ago. We have only won 2 FA Cup games in the last 10 years. Perhaps our luck is about to change - I have predicted a win LOL en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Queens_Park_Rangers_F.C._seasons

Hall set to return for League Cup? From the Brent & Kilburn Times www.kilburntimes.co.uk/sport/football/queens-park-rangers/qpr-hall-return-peterborough-carabao-cup-1-5649283Hall in line for QPR returnPUBLISHED: 16:00 13 August 2018 | UPDATED: 16:14 13 August 2018 Ned Keating Queens Park Rangers defender Grant Hall could make his first appearance of the season when Peterborough United visit Loftus Road in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night. The 26-year-old has not played for the Rs since last seasonβs FA Cup third round defeat at home to MK Dons in January. Since then, Hall has undergone surgery in a bid to ease the knee troubles he has battled with during his time with QPR. The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster is back in training and even featured for the Rsβ under-23s recently. And QPR boss Steve McClaren revealed Hallβs comeback may take a step up when the Posh make the trip to west London on Tuesday night. Speaking after Saturdayβs 2-1 defeat at home to Sheffield United in the Sky Bet Championship, McClaren said: βWeβre having a look at playing Grant. Whether heβll play? Maybe, weβll see. βItβs not one of those games where you want to go in and experiment. We want to look at things. βGrant has looked excellent in training, so we want him back in the frame as soon as possible.β

Stick your money on Posh.
Safest bet in all of professional sports.
And I keep saying this in the hopes that one day this lot will prove me wrong.

It all depends on how many changes are made. If wholesale changes are made we will likely struggle and Peterboro have won both games they've played so far.
The lack of atmosphere works against us in these games too with only a couple of stands open and no more than 4,000 present.
Our FA Cup record is worse so maybe we'll get a result in this one. It would be good for morale and confidence if we did.

From the Offie www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/mcclaren-expecting-minimal-cup-changes/McClaren expecting minimal Cup changesDavid Scriven @dmscriven QPR boss Steve McClaren says he wonβt be experimenting too much with his team selection to face Peterborough United in the Carabao Cup tonight. The Rβs manager admitted he would make a few changes for the League One sides visit to Loftus Road. But the Rangers chief was keen to try and get some momentum going after two League defeats so far. βWe approach the game to win it,β he told www.qpr.co.uk. βIf I was a year or two in Iβd know these players and what they can do. βIβm not so much experimenting but giving everyone an opportunity. Tonight is a chance for that, three or four maximum will be coming in, but we will look to try and get some momentum going. βYou are always searching to get that first win as quickly as possible. We were disappointed not to get that at the weekend but this is an opportunity to play again and get a result.β Peterborough arrive in W12 in good form. Steve Evans side have won both of their opening League One fixtures against Bristol Rovers and Rochdale. The London Road side have recruited 15 new faces this summer whilst 13 have headed for the exit door in a busy summer for the Cambridgeshire based outfit. βThis is not an easy game,β continued McClaren. βPeterborough United are a play-off favourite, I know Steve Evans well and he always has his teams well organised, competitive and hard to beat. βTheyβve got one or two very good players and Iβve told our lads that this is not going to be an easy game.β QPR have no fresh injury concerns ahead of The Poshβs visit. Defender Grant Hall expressed last week that he hoped to play some part in the match

Just on the way home. That was...weirdly straight forward.
No sign of Hall sadly though Leistner and Baptiste acquitted themselves pretty well.
Cousins looked sharp and linked nicely with Wzsolek so they haven't done themselves any harm at all. Scowen was at his ratty best.
After the two goals we didn't really punish Peterborough and they crept back in. They drew one good trailing leg save out of Lumley but not that much more. Lumley meanwhile, looked solid and his distribution seemed a lot more assured that Ingram's.
Little dull for the last 20 mins or so as we just sought to throttle the game but can't complain. No injuries, two goals, no real danger against not bad opposition who are on a good run.
Special mention for seeing Steve Evans up close from the unfamiliar setting of the paddocks. He was apoplectic throughout.

What is this witchcraft? QPR winning a cup match? Happy days. Don't get too excited, we won our 1st round matches for the last 3 or 4 seasons. Now, if we win our 2nd round match, there be dragons!
