We obviously need money....And I presume we're just hoping to get a couple of big money offers for our players, starting in goal.

BREAKING NEWS SSN
Nottingham Forest have agreed a club record fee in the region of £13m for Benfica midfielder Joao Carvalho, Sky Sports News understands.
The deal, subject to a medical, smashes Forest's transfer record of £6.2m for Britt Assombalonga.
Carvalho’s team-mate Diogo Goncalves is also expected to join Forest on a season-long loan.
Both players are represented by Jorge Mendes, who has worked closely in recent months with Wolves.
Both deals are expected to be completed by this weekend.
Forest seemingly following the Wolves model to gain promotion. I wonder if it will be replicated or if it will all end in tears. Forest's turn to bet the shop!

What HITC was quoting, another not so reliable source, The Sun! www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/6526328/qpr-steve-mcclaren-preston-paul-huntingdon/HUNT IS ON QPR boss Steve McClaren set to launch £1m for Preston defender Paul HuntingdonHuntington has a year left on his contract at Deepdale and McClaren is poised to land him on a cut-price deal EXCLUSIVE By Mike McGrath 14th June 2018, 10:20 am Updated: 14th June 2018, 10:20 am STEVE McCLAREN is set to make a £1million bid for Preston centre-back Paul Huntingdon. The QPR boss has targeted the 30-year-old a player he wants to help to launch a promotion bid in the Championship next season. Huntington has a year left on his contract at Deepdale and McClaren is poised to land him on a cut-price deal. It could be another blow for Preston after Greg Cunningham left for newly-promoted Cardiff this week. Huntington skippered Preston in games last season. And his leadership is wanted by McClaren in his backline. The ex-Newcastle and Leeds defender missed just two games last season. He started in 44 as Preston launched a surprise play-off challenge. He was a key man for Alex Neil as the North End boss’ side finished just two points off the top six.

If real, that's potentially a smart looking move. It's one of the few areas of the pitch where that age and experience would be most welcome and needed after losing Onouha and potentially losing Robinson too. Having started most of their games last season, fitness doesn't seem to be an issue and Preston have just signed a young centre back which adds a bit of fuel to the rumour fire. Also thanks for including the full text Sharky, so we don't have to give clicks to that filth .

From WLS. What does "not in a position to make him a concrete off" mean? Too expensive? FFP means we are unable to make an offer?! What? www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-cool-their-interest-in-hibs-midfielderQPR cool their interest in Hibs midfielderBy David McIntyre 14/06/2018 QPR have cooled their interest in Dylan McGeouch. The Scotland international midfielder, whose Hibernian contract expires this month, is among a number of players the R’s have been tracking. He was identified as a potential signing should an offer come in for one of QPR’s midfielders after the end of last season. With no offer having been received, and with McGeouch needing to resolve his future, Rangers have indicated that they are no longer an option for him and are not in a position to make him a concrete offer. Several other clubs, including Brentford, remain interested in the 25-year-old, while Fulham monitored him before winning promotion to the Premier League. Blackburn Rovers and Aberdeen have long been keen on McGeouch and reports have suggested Bristol City are also in the running to sign him.

I'm purely guessing but I'd imagine it would be down to a potential bidding war with other clubs. If we've got firm lines in terms of wages and transfer fees we can offer, we probably can't start throwing down offers and going back and forth with the player over it.

www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/06/22/do-report-wolves-rivalling-qpr-for-highly-rated-defender-fraser/Interesting one! Other reports seem to suggest that we are not in the running as Wolves already secured. Report: Wolves rivalling QPR for highly-rated defender Fraser Horsfall Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers and Championship side Queens Park Rangers both reportedly want the Kidderminster Harriers man. Wolverhampton Wanderers might have spent some big fees on some big names since the reign of Fosun and Jorge Mendes began in 2016. But the current Championship title-holders have also put in place some very exciting plans for the future, with most of their signings aged 23 or under. And the Express and Star reports that another exciting talent is on Wolves’ radar, although this one comes from Kidderminster rather than Benfica or Monaco. The Express and Star is claiming that Wolves have held initial talks with Kidderminster’s 21-year-old centre-back Fraser Horsfall, who shone in the National League North last season after moving from Huddersfield Town a year ago. 6ft 2ins Horsfall played 43 league games last season, scoring four goals, and it is understood that Wolves are rivalling Queens Park Rangers for his signature. Horsfall would cost around £200,000. If Horsfall wants immediate first-team football then QPR might be his better option. But it seems that Wolves have already drawn up their plans for the young defender. SEE ALSO: Everton reportedly target 27-year-old again after Wolves launch £22m bid The Express and Star adds that Wolves would either loan Horsfall out next season or give him a chance in Rob Edwards’ U23 side. But it is understood that the Midland giants believe Horsfall has the potential to step up to Premier League level, which would make his £200,000 transfer fee certainly worth the risk.

I mean, if that story has legs then you'd hope that we can actually sell the club to a player like that on our recent track record. We're very light at CB and we've integrated youngsters in key positions and helped them grow. You'd hope, they'd look at Furlong, Eze, Smyth, Chair and the like and think this is somewhere they could really grow rather than knocking about on the bench or on loan (at best, I'd imagine) for Wolves. We wouldn't be able to win on money, but hopefully if the young lad is thinking longer term...

Would be big step up but hopefully he could gradually progress to the first team. Would hope that Peter Eustace has some influence over his choice of club having managed him for the last 2 seasons. Just the sort of signing that we should be making - a young defender with potential who our management team know all about.

So Fernandes needlessly tweets that we will be'trimming the squad' and then within hours the story surfaces that Smithies is on his way to Cardiff for £4m. Too much of a coincidence for me. I think it may well be true. We have 3 keepers and we need cash to buy a defender and a striker to 'balance the books'. Typical Fernandes timing.

Yes please! Possible replacement for Ned!? Has had an impressive World Cup. A local Perth boy too! Could use part of the 4 mil we get for Smithies to get him. footballleagueworld.co.uk/qpr-join-aston-villa-in-the-hunt-for-impressive-world-cup-star/QPR JOIN ASTON VILLA IN THE HUNT FOR IMPRESSIVE WORLD CUP STARPublished 2 hours ago on 26/06/2018 By Jay Williams Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers both hold an interest in Trent Sainsbury, according to Football Insider. Both sides have made approaches for the Australia international, who has caught the eye at the World Cup finals in Russia with some impressive displays for his country against France and Denmark. Up in action against the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Christian Eriksen, the centre-back has held his own and helped his nation pick up one point so far. But Sainsbury wants a move to Europe this summer and with one year left on his current deal at Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, this seems feasible. The 26-year-old is wanted by Aston Villa as they seek a replacement for outgoing captain John Terry, while QPR are hoping that he can fill the void left by Nedum Onuoha. Formerly of Central Coast Mariners, PEC Zwolle, Inter Milan and Grasshoppers, Sainsbury has experience in Europe but not yet in England. Aston Villa and QPR are prepared to take a risk though as they launch initial enquiries for the defender. The VerdictSainsbury has been very impressive during this World Cup and Aston Villa and QPR fans will be hoping he can replicate that form if he joins them. He is not likely to cost very much – which is ideal for cash-strapped Villa – and this could be a good, cheap option to bolster the defence. Aston Villa will be hoping that Mile Jedinak can convince his fellow countryman to join him at Villa Park.

For the record and as announced on the separate thread, Robinson gone. We're looking a bit thin on the ground at the moment! www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/jack-robinson-departs/Jack Robinson departsPaul Morrissey @pjmorrissey77 JACK Robinson has left QPR following a four-year stay with the club, Director of Football Les Ferdinand confirmed today. The 24-year-old defender’s current deal officially expires at the end of this month, and Ferdinand explained to http://www.qpr.co.uk: “Jack will be leaving us. “We made him a very attractive offer, but he decided to turn it down and take his chances in the market. “We thank Jack for his efforts during his time with us and wish him every success in the future. “The club’s philosophy with regards to signing players and retaining players has changed in recent years, and that is vital for our sustainability going forward.”

Smithies goes, so do our chances, this is terrible news and shows lack of ambition all round. This club becomes more of a joke every year. Not having a knock, I just genuinely don't get this. What is it about how we've been the last few years that makes us a "joke".? We were a joke if you're looking a good five years back and now we're paying for it. Few years on, things are far from perfect but we are just objectively so much better ran now. My expectations are lower but I feel so much better clicking through the turnstiles to watch this lot, seeing ex-players on the pitch at HT and seeing our home grown and cheaply assembled players busting a gut. Year on year we get a little further away from that very memorable feeling of alienation and frustration I felt paying money to see a group of overpaid, gutless tossers in our hoops to be honest. Doesn't mean I like Smithies going, doesn't mean I like us floundering about without money, but we actually have an identity, a plan, some actual VALUES again. Calling us a "joke" seems incredibly unfair to me.

Speak up Nomar, how would i fit in mate ? Go on Twitter, type in QPR, read the tweets then compare them with the stuff you post. Or, better still, read any Dave McIntyre or Clive Whittingham tweet, usually the ones where they are genuinely trying to explain the club’s position using facts and common sense and then read the typical responses. You may never have been on twitter but most of it’s eerily similar to the views you hold when it comes to QPR. Your posts would get a lot of likes or retweets on twitter.

Have to say I don't always agree to Dave Mc or Clive Whittingham, though they do usually offer more lengthily considered views than most.
Not sure their opinions are any more valid than anyone else's deeply held view though.
No-one is 'right' or 'wrong' in an exchange of personal perceptions - we all think ours is the correct one.
Not sure personal attacks on discussion boards do anything more than claim that somehow 'I'm cleverer than you...'
