Smyth Manning Eze Oteh Osayi-Samuel Furlong and Lumley... that’s a great list of players for the next few years. It asks another question though, can we hang onto them?

I'm very excited about the prospect of these players, but I don't think we can compare it yet to the great youth sides of the mid sixties & the late seventies/early eighties.
Alec Stock through to Gordon Jago inherited Hazell, Hunt, Sibley, Morgan, Morgan, Leach, Clement, Gillard & Francis. Perhaps Peter Springett should also be added to these.
Docherty & Terry Venables had the benefit of Allen, Goddard, Hucker, Neale, Dawes, Waddock & Evans.
Apologies to any that I've forgotten to mention.
If the current crop achieve half as much as those two groups, we will be in for a lot of fun & enjoyment. Please, please let this be the case!

Certainly the best in my life time. Does make me think though, how much of that is the players and how much of it is the setup and process we have now?
It's not like we've got more money now for the youth setup than we did years ago but does make me think what could have been if we had the mindset 10 years ago of integrating youngsters like we do now - having a pathway to the first team and giving chances.
Maybe we have more talent than we did back then but it's worrying to think that if Eze or Oteh or Smyth or Manning were the age they are now under the Briatore reign...would they have got their chance? How many potential gems have slipped through the net?

Hope this all continues and Warren Farm is a huge piece of a QPR jigsaw that makes it continue for the foreseeable future. Does Ramsay take a lot of credit or is it our scouting since Penrice joined .. I suppose from top to bottom they should all get a pat on the back.

Well the youngsters have certainly given the message boards a positive vibe! I think our crop certainly show potential, but they need to be managed properly, because today it is still just potential. Holloway gets a lot wrong, but I think he has gradually brought on the youth pretty well (although Furlong could have been used earlier) so hopefully he can develop that potential into proven ability.
