A great win for us today which sets up the scenario I thought might be in play when this FA Cup game rolled around.
Something good has happened. We've beaten a team near the top of the table, a promising youngster has scored the winner on his debut. So what do you do?
Sadly my guess is we'll see JET and Goss and all the other cast offs. We'll get done 3-1 or something and all that good feeling will be gone for a club that hasn't had much of it in recent years.
I know the arguments for resting players, league is more important and all that, but I just think for a club like QPR momentum and good vibes has real value and we're too willing to flush it down the toilet because it's just the cup.
We've got Burton in our next league game, an important game considering where we are in the table. Would like to go into the game riding a high, not sniping about a lackluster defeat to a team a league below us.
That's just me.

Something good happened before in Oct/November we beat Wolves and Sheff Utd but I’m not getting carried away with one win unless we back it up with something at Burton.
Pick a team against MK resting a few but not 8-9 and a team good enough to get to round four.
You won’t see JET I doubt as he won’t play again and you won’t see Goss I doubt as he wants away this month, unless they put him in the shop window. Personally prefer to see a youngster come in a give 100 % than someone that wants away.

Bit torn as I'd love to see us actually put more effort into the cup along with other teams like us. As rangerjake says the arguments are well known about focusing on the league etc but I still find it hard to believe players at this level can't cope with a cup game now and then. Yes, we've had some awful luck in the past with Mackie and Faurlin getting crocked in the cup but if anything I think momentum is good wherever the wins come from. Plenty of teams who've gone on to the play off places or promotion in our league have regularly made it to the quarters of the league cup, for example.
As it goes, we will probably limp out and if we get a result at Burton all is forgotten. Agree with Harr that if we do put a non-first team out, it's hungry youngsters. There's a shop window argument but can't imagine that a random league cup game against MK Dons is going to radically alter someone getting sold or not.

We used to do cups. We even won one. Cant remember when all this started. Recall going to 5th round and losing to Man U. But last many years we play the reserves. Ought to be a law against this by FA.

Everybody take a deep breath and repeat after me..... .... WE DON'T DO CUPS!Give it a rest please Hey 57 I wish it wasn't true but it is. Some fans get all flustered when we lose to lower division teams in Cups but the fact of the matter is we play second stringers and get beaten. Having stated the obvious I will give it a rest.

Sadly my guess is we'll see JET and Goss and all the other cast offs. We'll get done 3-1 or something and all that good feeling will be gone for a club that hasn't had much of it in recent years. The MK game has to be about resting any players who may need it and rewarding fringe players who deserve it. We'll never see JET in the Hoops again - the whole football world knows about him, giving him a run out sin't going to persuade anyone of his talents. Goss might get a run out, don't see he's done anything wrong. Great opportunity for the likes of Manning, Smyth, Eze, BOS, Oteh. Oh, and we're going to win 2-0. We might not do cups, but there's a new breed of hungry young players coming through who just might...
