Seems about right Jake. Still, water under the bridge, we are where we are and all that...
Shame we'll get nowt in terms of a transfer fee, but his problems are well documented and I'm not sure we'd have had much interest. I expect he'll pitch up somewhere on a short-term or pay-per-play deal.
It would be just our luck to see him pitch up at Southampton to replace Van Dijk, and have a storming second half of the season and sell him on in 2 years for £30m.

From getwestlondon. I suppose the agreement is that we will make up any shortfall in his wages that he gets from his new club. Let's hope Celtic or some other club are stupid enough to sign him! www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/qpr-cut-wage-bill-former-14089805QPR cut wage bill as former Liverpool and Southampton man departsThe 29-year-made just four appearances for the Rs this season, having played 54 times in all competitions for the west London outfit since signing in the summer of 2014 By Clive Youlton 16:30, 28 DEC 2017 Feltham-born Steven Caulker has left QPR by mutual consent. The 29-year-made just four appearances for the Rs this season, having played 54 times in all competitions for the west London outfit since signing in the summer of 2014. He started out at Tottenham in 2009 and was loaned to Yeovil Town, Bristol City and Swansea City before signing for Cardiff City where he played one season. Caulker signed a four-year contract at Loftus Road after leaving the Welsh side and was subsequently loaned to Southampton and Liverpool. The defender’s career has been beset with mental health problems, alcoholism and gambling and he admitted in an article in the Guardian published in June that he had previously contemplated suicide, and spent time hating himself. His departure from Rangers prior to the transfer window will not come as a surprise to fans and as a free agent, Caulker is now free to move elsewhere, with the smart money said to be on linking up with his former boss Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, who he worked with at Swansea.

I doubt we will have saved any money then if we have had to pay him off but come June we will be in a better position. Hopefully he will get his life in order now and get back to playing football.
I wouldn’t put Hoillett in that list or Zarate. We bought Zarate and then decided not to play him, which isn’t really his fault.

I would doubt that we are paying him every penny of his contract.
I think it is far more likely that a figure was agreed upon. No doubt that would be more than we would have liked, but four weeks less would save £200,000

I will say it nice and simple yet again!!! Ollie, SIGN a F***ING STRIKER !!!! Fine. But we already have 5 of them: Mackie, JET, Smith, Sylla and Washington. Based on the fact that we are in FFP hell right now, we’d have to shift at least one and possibly two of them just to balance the books better in our favour in the loss column. So from what hat are you going to pull a striker who will be better than what we have and cost us virtually nothing to buy and pay low end Championship wages to?

Wrong, Mackie is an attacking midfielder come winger, Washington is a Winger, JET is..well JET and will be gone and Sylla is a joke. Yes he has scored a few goals but percentage wise by the chances created for him, he should be near 20 for the season so far. Smith hasn't exactly set the earth on fire. Hope this clears it up.

I'd lose the lot and with the money saved in wages as well as Caulkers wages, you could get two or three quite efficient forwards.

I'd lose the lot and with the money saved in wages as well as Caulkers wages, you could get two or three quite efficient forwards. Fine, again. But how are you going to lose them? We tried selling JET but no ones interested. Doubt we’d get anything for Mackie, he’d have to go on a free. Washington could do a job for someone but we’d have to take a huge loss and no doubt he’d have to take a drop in wages to go somewhere else. Easier said than done. Sylla looks likely to be sold in this window or at least it looks like we’ll try to flog him. Smith would probably be a similar story to Mackie. You could just pay them all off and let them walk, but that doesn’t solve our FFP problem as that still goes down as a loss. See, it’s easy playing the ‘get rid of them and buy a new striker’ game in the comfort of our sofas behind a tablet or keyboard. It’s another thing to actually stop and think about how you’re actually going to achieve that outcome in the real world.

From getwestlondon. Same problem as we had with Rob Green's contract apparently www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ian-holloway-reveals-reason-steven-14094580Ian Holloway reveals the reason for Steven Caulker's QPR departure after former Tottenham and Swansea man leaves club on 'mutual agreement'The defender left the club by mutual consent, a decision which, according to Ollie, wasn't something he'd have ideally wanted. By Phil Spencer 10:17, 30 DEC 2017 UPDATED 10:50, 30 DEC 2017 Ian Holloway has revealed the reason for Steven Caulker's departure from QPR, putting it down to a clause in his contract. The defender left the club by mutual consent, a decision which, according to Ollie, wasn't something he'd have ideally wanted. Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Millwall, Holloway explained: "Steven Caulker had a thing in his contract that if he played a certain amount of games, so I had to let him go."That’s not what I want to do really, if I could get him going because he’s been a terrific footballer in his life but we are where we are and we’ve got to keep moving forward." The main focus of the January transfer window will be to trim the QPR squad which is among the largest in the Championship, but Ollie says he has plenty of options for how to strengthen the squad next month. Why QPR's decision to offload former Tottenham and Swansea man Steven Caulker is the definition of 'mutually beneficial' He said: "I’ve got some young kids who I’m going to get in the team and get them playing. They’re pretty bright and pretty fresh. "There’s loads of things we can do; we have a whole scouting network that we’ve got to look at, but I’m going to do some things that in an ideal world I wouldn’t want to have to do, but that’s life."
