Below is what I have just posted on LFW.
Only a short post as others will be far better at expressing their views.
I had my ear bent on the way back by a Norwich fan who stated that we were the better side in the first half. I do agree with this assessment, although we were a little short on creativity. Each side had one chance & it looked a certainty that we would be leaving with a point in a goal less game.
The second half started & Lynch won the ball twice with good defending. However, both tiomes he gave the ball straight back to Norwich. So, one goal down & the chances of equalising looked remote. Before their second goal (not closing down the player in pocession) I felt that we did not deserve to lose, but it was hard to argue that at the end of the match.
That we didn't get anything from the game was not due to a lack of effort or care, but more down to our lack of making chances. We were far more competitive though than many a game last season.
I need help in trying to understand what our playing system was. I think it was a back three when Norwich had the ball, but when the ball was with Smithies, Perch moved to a right winger to attempt to win the ball in the air. He was largely sucessful with this!
As expected, we ended the game hitting everything towards the head of Smith. We are not very good at playing that way!
Overall, a disappointing result, but a performance that didn't leave the supporters annoyed.

Great assessment and to the point.. I said this would be yard stick and think we are as I thought. Lacking in goals aswell as frail in defence . Mid table it is 😒

How important was the loss of Wszolek?

How important was the loss of Wszolek? It was certainly a big loss as we then had nobody that could run at defenders in advanced positions. However, I wouldn't say that it cost us the game. For the most part, the defence was far from fragile & coped very well with the Norwich attack. The distribution from Lynch for just one minute was our undoing, but in the long term I would prefer for us to try to play the ball out rather than just whack it. We played better at Norwich last night than we have for many a long year, including the Rowlands 1-0 win. Perch is like a new signing! He appears to have taken to his new responsibilities & Bidwell is also far better than last season. No, I can't see how we will be close to the play off's, but at the moment, a relegation struggle looks just as far away. We are a mid table side & one that is actually trying to play football!

Thanks so much for the write up terryb.
Always disappointing and annoying to lose but good to see us actually play alright and deserve more at Carrow Road, where we're so often awful. Three games, all against teams tipped for the play-offs, 4 points. Not bad, that.

First away game for me for some little while.
Firstly, I wasn't overly impressed with elements of our supporters, quick to start negative chants, lots of foul mouthed unnecessary chanting despite quite a few youngsters being around and one guy decided to remove his trainers and hurl them at the Norwich fans which inevitably meant he got kicked out and had no shoes!!
Performance wise we were quick out of the blocks and first ten minutes had Norwich on the hop, however, once we allowed them to grow in to the game we struggled a bit. They seemed very good at shepherding us in to tight spaces and cul-de-sacs and often we didn't have the guile to play out of it. Freeman is classy and he perpetuated some nice one-twos but more often than not we either lacked the killer ball, we dallied too long or we took too many touches. We did create a couple of decent chances but unlike Norwich we were not clinical enough in front of goal.
Smithies had another blinder and made at least three top saves and I thought Scowen worked hard, he was often the guy fetching the ball from our nervous back line and trying (at least) to get us up the pitch. Onouha & Lynch to a lesser extent have a habit of putting us unnecessary pressure by giving it away in key areas. When pressed they reverted to high looping balls which Zimmerman (6) won all night long.
I agree that we didnt lack endeavour or effort but neither did we have the snap and sparkle that we showed against our last two opponents. If not for Smithies we could have lost by more.

I am sorry to read that you experienced some poor behaviour by our so called supporters - It has certainly put me off going to any away games where you can't choose where you are sitting and therefore could be sitting close to these idiots

Conceding first would appear to be a death sentence for us this season.

I would say that the stuff I heard was only a small minority but 'Baldy C###' to IH and a ripple of 'We're F###### Shit' is pretty naff after just three games. We took decent numbers but you are right scarlet they are OUR bogey team.

I remember us playing them at home in the top division sometime in the early seventies there was a power strike that went on for weeks, so we had to play them during a weekday, we were unbeaten at home......they beat us 2-0.........farkers.

When any team is on a bad run, they all look forward to playing QPR knowing full well that their run is about to end.
