Hardly a classic, but a goal is a goal

www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10926403/getafe-beat-tenerife-to-make-sure-of-an-instant-return-to-la-ligaGetafe beat Tenerife to make sure of an instant return to La Liga Getafe earned an immediate return to the Spanish top flight after beating Tenerife in the second division promotion play-off final. The Madrid-based club, whose 11-year stint in La Liga came to an end when they were relegated last year, lost the first leg of their final 1-0 in the Canary Islands, but they turned things round on Saturday with a 3-1 home victory. Alejandro Faurlin's 10th-minute goal wiped out Tenerife's first-leg advantage and Daniel Pacheco's strike three minutes later put Getafe in charge at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Anthony Lozano got Tenerife back into it with a close-range goal in the 18th minute but Pacheco's second of the night just before half-time proved decisive for Getafe, whose 3-2 aggregate win sees them join Levante and Girona in going up.

Though I do remember "Faurlingate. When Paladini was charged by FA for illegal signing. Delayed our promotion to Prem. by a few weeks, but they finally called of the dogs and relented.

The trouble with Ale Faulin is that he looked like a good footballer.
A player with a brain that could anticipate and actually pass to other players in a blue and white hooped shirt.
The trouble with Ale Faulin is that he seemed to want to play for the shirt too and had pride in playing for the R's.
The trouble with Ale Faurlin is management thought he wasn't good enough and therefore was moved on.
Shows how little these experts know.
Was sad to see a class player who came back from some horrible injuries go.
Typical QPR but well done Ale. Seemed a nice bloke too.

From memory, and I could be wrong, he wanted to be guaranteed first team football and JFH wouldn't guarantee that so he asked to leave.
Having said that, good on him, he deserves every good fortune.

That was certainly the official line. Not suitable for Hasselbaink's mythical high pressing game, a style we didn't see until Holloway promoted Manning to the first team - another player Hasselbaink was going to let go! During the previous season, we had always looked a better football team with Faurlin on the pitch, even in his poorer matches. He was always available to receive the ball, you don't need pace to be in the right place. There are rumours going around the Sevilla are going to make an offer for him. Anyway, this video has appeared showing his return from injury (you may need to follow the path to YouTube to watch it)

Anyway, this video has appeared showing his return from injury (you may need to follow the path to YouTube to watch it) That was what I'd heard too - didn't fit in as a first team player in a team supposedly setting out for a high pressing game...which, as you say, didn't materialise until (some) games under Ollie featuring Manning. It's only speculation but my guess would be that it was an attempt by JFH to stamp his authority on the team. Long-term player who arguably didn't fit into the style of play JFH promised, so jettisoning him was a line in the sand - not going to accommodate people just because they're well-liked if they don't fit JFH's vision. I love Faurlin to pieces and was also someone who doubted whether, after 3 x ACL injuries, he could play in a team focused around high pressing. I saw the logic in selling him on that basis. But when you see him playing (I believe?) 30 games in the Spanish second division and QPR barely playing a high press, it seems more and more mad that we didn't accommodate him.
