88th minute winner from Wigan was a shame (keeps Wolves in the mix though) but other results seem to have gone our way.

Perfect night apart from Wigan winning. NW , you just have to admirethe way he has. turned Cardiff around. They were never going to drop anyway. Losses for Blackburn, Rotherham, Bristol C , Villa , Birmingham , Forest and Wolves. Blimmin Wigan ruined my night We better put on a good show at Birmingham , they played a midweek game and had 10 men in second half. We should be fresh, expecting at least a point.

One things for sure if we play crap we can not blame the midweek extra game we had to play, we should be fresher than Birmingham. You know the Burton one we brought forward to a Saturday and played like wallies.
I would take a point and then 3 points off Wigan. Minimum I would take is 4 points, although I guess if we played well at Birmingham and lost but then went on to beat Wigan, thats the most important win.
No more charity to the teams below us, it stops here Ollie. Get the players motivated up for these two games over 3 days and dig deep for a win.
I still think we might need 5 wins. Lets make sure we have one of them by this time next week.

Championship last 10 years 22 nd place points totals
2016. Charlton 40 2015. Millwall 41 2014 Doncaster 44 2013. Peterboro 54 2012. Portsmouth 40 2011 Preston 42 2010. Sheff Weds 47 2009. Norwich 46 2008 Leicester 52 2007. Sothampton 42
Average 44.8 So an average of 45-46 points kept you up. 4 wins gives us 46, 5 wins 49.
Peterboro and Leicester being the unlucky ones in the last decade.

Peterboro and Leicester being the unlucky ones in the last decade. Can't see it being as high as 54pts but could well be over 45. With 2 teams being on 29pts with 15 games to go, 5 wins and a few draws is not impossible, especially given that teams near the bottom often put a run together in the last 1/3 of the season.

We have 5 points less than at the same stage last year. (39 points 31 games)
Rotherham were on 26 points 22nd in the League after 31 games, MK Dons were on 31 points after 31 games. Rotherham overtook MKDons with the Warnock factor.

Another one went our way last night, thank you Fulham.
Still say Wigan, Blackburn, Burton and Bristol will fight for the last two spots with Rotherham. Maybe Forest still involved.
See the three West Midland clubs Wolves, Villa and Birmingham being just a little bit to strong...
As well as Wolves v Birmingham Friday, two huge other games this weekend.
Burton v Blackburn, if Burton can win that will open up a bit of a gap but Blackburn have new manager?
Wigan v Forest , currently 6 points between the two, Wigan win that and suck Forest right back in.

If Wolves, Forest & Burton all win, it would create enough of a gap to heap loads more pressure on the 3 teams down there. If they go they other way, it sucks more teams in. Personally, I'll be happy with a point from Preston. Should be enough to keep us out of the mix.

Even if we lost at preston but got 4 points from Cardiff and Barnsley at home. As long as we got 4 points in any combination from the next 3 games I would be happy. Leaves us on 44 with 10 games to go, realistically needing 2 wins from 10.

The players are finally playing the way Holloway wants them to, with high energy and closing down quickly (I think Hasselbank also wanted them to play this way...

What the team needs now is to keep growing in confidence and positive thinking so I would hope they are aiming at getting at least 10 points from the next 4 games. If they are sitting back and thinking 4 points from the next 3 games is good enough there is something wrong. Aim for 10 and if we fall short with 9 or 8 or 6 we are still not in bad shape but at least lets be positive and aim high. Agreed, I think we can still make the play offs

Im not sure if JFH even knew his best 11 a year after being in the job. He continually changed things in my eye and some of the starting 11's amazed me. We look a much better unit in the last ten games, than under JFH in 40 plus games. We need to stay in this League and let Ollie build on this next year now and we will all be happy. Well most of us

You mean well Harlow, as Ive always thought, but really, what difference does it make? We aint going up and neither are we going down. You couldnt expect Ollie to do any more than keep us up this year. Hopefully he will do that now Harry. Then we need to see if we can build on this and aim for bettering the 60 points Ramsey/ JFH got 2015/16 If we did that next year even if we didnt make play offs I would be ok with that. If you look at our last ten games 17 points, that equals 76-77 points, so You never Know what could happen next year? Must say I think its amazing what you can do when you get the right Manager. Cardiff in the bottom three when Neil Warnock took over, his last 10 games 20 points, that is automatic promotion form. Sadly we selected a couple of very bad choices after we were relegated from the Premier League and went backwards or at best level, now next season we may start progressing again with good team spirit, players that want to fight to get out of the division and give there all.

You mean well Harlow, as Ive always thought, but really, what difference does it make? We aint going up and neither are we going down. Exactly. So we (and the players) should stop thinking about fear of relegation or the wonders of promotion but should set out to achieve the highest number of points and league position as possible. We need to set the tone for next season now and scrapping along at a point a game is not what we want to see again in August. The achampionship is a really good tough league, its no walk in the park to get out of. I dont mind if we stay in it a year or so why we build up a team that could challenge for promotion that could actually stay in the Prem one day. We did it all wrong last times, buying all those pretty poor players on big bucks just made us look a bit silly. Yeah no more scrapping at a point a game any more , agree there. Lets just get safe in this League and see where it takes us come August.

Ikeme helped Birmingham get there 2 nd win in 15 games. Wolves 4 straight defeats, in a bit of a mess, even after spending 13 million on one player and so much cash in the window.
Burton v Blackburn play out a 1-1 which doesnt help Blackburn alot, not bad result for us though .

One win and Brum have gone from being the free fall team heading for the drop to being safe mid table? Lots of twists and turns still to come in the next 10 games I think. That's the championship for you, heroes to zeros and back again in the blink of a eye. Gotta love it!

The lucky thing for Zola when he took over was they already 34 points after about 20 games when they were 7 th. Had they been mid table when he took over, they would have been in relegation places with 6 points from 14 games prior to that win last night. That fact he had a little breathing space on 40 points , probabl kept him in his job.
Interested to see how Wigan fare, next four Forest, Blackburn, Bristol C and Birmingham

Here's an interesting comparison with last season At this stage last year, we had 41 points, only 1 point more than this year although we were 15 point above 22nd compared to 10 this year We then got 19 points from the last 13 games. Charlton finished in 22nd place with 40 points so 41 would have seen us safe although I expect that to be higher this season. 22nd had 4 less points last season after 33 games so it'll probably b 44-46 points this year

Oh well shame about the defeat but as defeats go, losses for Rotherham and Wolves and Draws for Wigan , forest, Burton and Blackburn so no real damage.
Two homes games next, ideally like 4 points but would take 3 as a minimum.
Two of the bottom teams playing there games in hand of Tuesday.
Bristol City at Villa Blackburn v Derby ( Blackburn will still have a game in hand after this, Fulham away) Hopefully losses but draws are ok.
If we can win one of the next two homes, even if we lost at Leeds but beat Rotherham, we would need about 3-4 points from 8 games, should be fine.
One thing for sure is bottom team will pick up points next Saturday BLACKBURN V WIGAN BRISTOL C V BURTON

Just as Sharky says . If we beat Barnsley and Rotherham, we are safe.
Wolves are really in a mess at the minute, spent all that money, 12 million on one player and desperately close to the bottom.

From the BBC. Bristol City coming with a wet sail! www.bbc.com/sport/football/39227074Bristol City thump promotion hopefuls HuddersfieldTammy Abraham scored his 22nd goal of the season as struggling Bristol City stunned Huddersfield Town to dent the Terriers' automatic promotion hopes. Lee Tomlin rounded Danny Ward to slot City ahead, after Town's Jonathan Hogg was taken off on a stretcher following a 14-minute stoppage. Chelsea loanee Abraham made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time, before Aden Flint superbly flicked in City's third. David Cotterill's penalty, after Joe Bryan was fouled, sealed victory. Lee Johnson's side, who had won only twice in 22 league matches prior to beating Wigan Athletic last Saturday, have now recorded back-to-back successes for the first time since 1 October and move up to 19th in the table.Huddersfield had won eight of their previous 10 Championship games to keep up the pressure on the top two, but remain six points adrift of second-placed Brighton after coming up against a Bristol City side in inspired form. David Wagner's team struggled to impose their familiar high-tempo, high-pressing game on the Robins, and never really recovered after Hogg had to be withdrawn in the first half following a clash with team-mate Mark Hudson. The 28-year-old received lengthy treatment to his neck and back from both sets of medical staff before being stretchered off to applause from all four sides of Ashton Gate. He was understood to be conscious and talking in the dressing room before being taken to hospital for a scan. Tomlin's composed finish deservedly put City in front, and 19-year-old Abraham doubled the advantage after displaying brilliant movement and striker's instinct to stab home at the near post. Centre-half Flint, who struck the winner at Wigan, made it 3-0 with a brilliant between-the-legs flick before Cotterill's penalty into the top corner lifted Lee Johnson's side back out of the relegation zone. 'This result will be a massive tonic for dad'Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson: "As far as my players are concerned, I was delighted with every one of them. They carried out our game plan perfectly and it was great to produce such a terrific performance in front of our own fans. "I hope we silenced a few doubters tonight. I saw this display coming and was confident before the game. Now we go into the international break with real momentum." On father and Cheltenham Town manager Gary Johnson, who underwent heart surgery on Thursday: "This result will be a massive tonic for dad and I want to thank the football world for all the goodwill expressed towards him and our family. "The heart surgery was performed by Joe Bryan's dad, which we didn't want to talk about before the game. "I am grateful to him and all the hospital staff. Dad is doing okay and the test results are encouraging. Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner: "Bristol City were strong and we under-performed. I have never spoken about automatic promotion and we now need to use the international break to refresh and respond to this result. "We are in a very good position with nine games to go and we have been through too much together as a group for me to question my players."
