I have not seen us play enough to make a call but I look at the Squad and think man that`s not a bad Squad.I would like to see Chery playing in behind our two front men with a - 3 4 1 2 formation. p.s. I did not see the Game the other night so I do not know what our formation was.

I'm not to sure we can read much into Thursday game, we would have won that game if Perch stayed on the pitch. Recently Henry, now Perch, costing us valuable points.
I doubt Ollie has worked out his best team yet, JFH hadnt decided it after a year. We might have to wait until the end of Jan, then we maybe might see a settled 11.
Im not to bothered about formations, providing the 11 on the pitch give there all for the club for 90 minutes and dont get cards for petty or stupid things that cost the team points that might yet come back to haunt us.
No points at all off Ipswich and Wolves is very bad indeed. Must beat Rotherham whether we decide to play one, two or three up top.

Cheers for the comments harr. I think there is a Team if players are put in the right positions. I still have the faith in what Ollie will have do for the Club as it will take Time.

Yes most definitely on both your points. I still think with a few additions this team would be good enough to compete with top six. The positions would gradually slot into places as woud what formation to play. We lack a real captain, we lack leaders. (Nedum not good enough) We lack a better defence, one that can even keep a clean sheet. We need an out and out goalscorer to bury these half chances, this one very hard to find with our budget though. Holloway will sort it but will take time. Stay in this division, first target 50 points, think by next December we might start looking a different team then.

TBH not a lot has changed since Ollie's joined. Thursdays game was really poor even with 11v11 we didn't start the game well at home against a team that was out of form and suffering with confidence. We beat Norwich but played against 10 men for the whole game but would have been very different if 11v11. Could easily be 3 losses. Now I think Ollie will get it right eventually but it will take longer than probably must of us first thought, just that early new manager bounce hasn't really happened. We do have a decent squad but just imbalanced at the moment. I like the 2 up front particularly at home. The major issue is Chery - he has been poor this season. Does look lively with his movement but end product not there so far compared to last year. Hopefully he can turn it around. The problem this causes us is that we can't play with wingers if we have Chery + 2 strikers. I would take £5m for Chery in January and sign a winger, striker and RB. Target has to be just stay up this year.

The manager does not have a squad of players that are capable of playing the pressing game he would like to implement.

This is off the top of my head, but I'd say something like:
Smithies Perch - Onouha - Lynch - Robinson Hall Luongo - Borysiuk Chery Polter - Washington
So essentially a 4-1-2-3 where Perch and Robinson act as overlapping wing backs (would really like to see Furlong back in for Perch though with his pace), Hall sat in front as the ball playing defender/bloke 'mopping up' and Luongo and Borysiuk as a narrow, fast moving midfield (Luongo bringing it forward and snapping around, Borysiuk doing the 'Faulin'). Chery sits just behind Polter and Washington.
Away from home/tighter games where width is more important I'd maybe say a traditional 4-4-2 with out and out wingers, where Washington could be replaced by Sylla later in the game. But of course this negates having Chery involved, so if you adapted to it mid-game where he started and it wasn't working, you'd maybe start with Chery and Luongo and sub them off for Shodipo and Wzsolek:
Smithies Onouha - Lynch - Caulker - Bidwell Wzsolek - Borysiuk - Cousins - Shodipo Washington - Polter

3-5-2 works for us but not because best formation but that we won't get specialist right back! .. Have used specialist right back since reading on here some time back but when did a defender stop being any good because he didn't assist in 15 goals a season? .. If we play this formation , Bidwell will fall way behind Robinson who's more suited to wing back . I would look for right back in January and have back four or make Wroslek our Moses and play ...
Smithies Onouha - Hall - Lynch Wroslek - Luongo - Sandro/Borysiuk - Robinson Chery Polter -Washington
But with a great right back 4-3-3 ... Looks more balanced!

I'm never convinced that any team has a 'best' formation.
It would depend on the starting 11, current form, who the opposition is and whether we're home or away.
In years gone by, it could be argued that Ollie only really had a Plan A, but he really needs a Plan A, B, C and D. I think he's developed and learned over the years, and I think he will have options in his coaching armoury.
I don't think we've seen anywhere near the best from many of our new signings - whether through, injury, personal circumstances, being played out of position... whatever. So I find it difficult to say who our best starting 11 may be.
Much as I like him, I'd be tempted to say that Onouha might lose his spot as centre back to a Hall/Lynch partnership in a back 4, and I've never been 100% comfortable with him playing at right/left back.
I'd stick with Washington up front for a few more games, but maybe start Cylla over Polter for a couple.
Ngbakoto and Cousins haven't had much of a look in as yet - hopefully their chance to impress will come soon.
I'm not convinced we have 2 fully-fledged wing-backs, so I'd be tempted to stick with 4-4-2 as the basis of most starting line ups.
If I had to pick a side today, I'd go with:
Smithies Perch - Hall - Lynch - Bidwell Luongo - Sandro - Chery - Borysiuk Cylla - Washington
