I think so but it could have been better. 3 wins out of 5 in August is decent compared with recent seasons, that's for sure.
Out of the 2 defeats, Barnsley I can accept as they're a decent side this season but Preston rankles! It was an abject performance and a big let down, especially as, out of 5 games, it's the only points they've got! Haven't seen any of the Wigan game yet so don't know how much of an improvement it was performance wise.
Another concern is how we're getting or goals, very few of which are coming from open play (is it 3 or 4 of our 8 goals from penalties?). Really do hope we can sign a striker before Wednesday night and one who can hit the ground running.
End of the day though, I'd say I was pretty pleased overall but would like to see a little more consistency going forwards.

Really we threw away the Barnsley game and Preston...well the less said the less frustration. That's 6 points.

Happy with the start, Fabs.
You are always going to get Preston results a few times in a season. Look how abject we were in the Premier League and yet we always seemed to take points off of Chelsea. It happens and it's the reason why they play the games.
I'd take being in the top 6 at the International break every day of the week, so I'm a happy bunny.

What's amazing is if we'd lost today - we'd have been looking down towards the bottom. Very close

What's amazing is if we'd lost today - we'd have been looking down towards the bottom. Very close Which is why no one from any team should be getting carried away regardless of where they are in the table right now. Teams like Blackburn and Preston have plenty of time yet to turn things around and Huddersfield could be mid table in a few months time. Just be happy if your team has made a good start, really.

A good start? I'm waiting to see how we're doing after 10 games before I'll be saying if we've had a good start or not!

Really we threw away the Barnsley game and Preston...well the less said the less frustration. That's 6 points. Threw the game away at Barnsley? Are you sure? Yes we were winning after 75 minutes (from two penalties) but my understanding, from those that were present, was that Barnsley deserved the win. Therefore, a Rangers win would have been Barnsley threw the game away! I think it will be a big surprise if Barnsley are not in contention for the play offs all season. They are a decent team! The best they have had since they were "just like Brazil"! The Preston game is all that we have done wrong this season. Mind you, we ****** that up royally! The first half was the worst I've seen from us since at home to Bolton in 1970! It has been a good start. Long may it continue!

The fact that we are still in the cup must be considered 'good' nay a bloody miracle and a home game against any PL side is surely a big bonus. So given our cup history I'd say this is bloody marvellous.
2 away wins out of 3 I would suggest is very good too.
The Preston game at home is the major blot on the start of the season although I'm glad it happened against PNE and not Leeds.
Given the recent history of the Club I'd say that this has been a good start to the season and more than I can have hoped for.

Coming back from 1-0 down against Barnsley to getting the lead with about 15 mins to go, I would have thought the minimum we should have accepted was a point in that game. JFH has started pretty well this season so far but when you look at who we have played so far, we have much tougher games to come. It is what it is, nine points a good start but like I said yesterday, one of the worse Managers in our history had 10 points at the same stage last year, so not getting too excited as it can change very quickly.

One of the "joys" of this division is that at this stage you can never be certain of who the tougher games are against; how we play is far more relevant than who our opponents may be. If I recall correctly, in the Warnock promotion season, our toughest match (i.e the one we lost most heavily) was away at the team that finished bottom.
Looking purely at our results and league position we've definitely had a good start, but losing at home to Preston was massively disappointing. It is going to be a long and unpredictable season.

Four weeks in, fifth place in the league, and already on the longest cup run in years... Organisation, effort and teamwork - just needs that little extra 'spark' and we'll be flying. 8.5 out of ten for me so far.

Barnsley and Preston games , plus the 2 cup games showed that we're mediocre , need a few decent signings to keep in top half !

Well am happy with fifth because I predicted 8th at the end of the season. We have won 3 league games and 2 cup games and we have scored more than conceded. Looks like we could have a cup run. I haven't seen a match live because I 4000 miles away but watched all on QPR Player HD. Of course the Preston game peed me off but that happens.
All this euphoria could fizzle out after Sept 13th when I will watch Rssss v Newcastle accompained by my Geordie Son-in-law.
