….and what will the crest stand for?
Ah that seems to have been forgotten, there was no rationale for the new crest apart from pick something that made one of your old favourite crest look worse.
As for Options 3/4 the club should have been embarrassed to put them out as contenders they were frankly awful.
They seemed that they didn't know what they were doing with the process. How many of them had redesigned a club badge before? I'll stab a guess at '0'
The fans 'voted in droves' for No 2 because there was not a 'None of these' button
On April 11 the logo to celebrate the biggest day in English football will be launched. England winning the World Cup back in 1966.
I did it and very proud I am too.
A bloke from Acton that has created a logo to celebrate our finest football moment. I've also worked on the creation of the Champions League, the UEFA corporate identity, coined the phrase 'Respect' to replace 'fair play', created the first ever brand identity for The FA Cup and worked with Leicester and Southampton on badge development programmes.
Yet every letter and email offering my services to the Club remains waiting the basic decency of a reply. Ignored every time.
Still I guess whatever they've done, it can't be worse than the current one.

You've every right to be proud When you'd first mentioned this some time ago I thought you were (perhaps unkindly) just a keen amateur with a couple of ideas and supporting your club. How wrong I was ....... and pleased to admit it. Pretty unimpressive though for the club to treat you that way - even a simple, 'thanks but no thanks'; as you say, lacking in basic decency.

Still I guess whatever they've done, it can't be worse than the current one. I'm probably the only fan who likes the current crest. If you take away the baggage of who introduced it and why and look at it just as a crest I like it.

The fans 'voted in droves' for No 2 because there was not a 'None of these' button
So very very true. but some yuppie designer probably is under the delusion that it was cool. The "None of These" button would have been overloaded with 30 minutes in the original voting.

Marshbowles10..... any chance we could see what you would liked to have designed? No doubting your pedigree and not wanting to judge just wondered what ideas you have/had.

My Name is Dan Norris and together with a fellow designer Dan Bowyer we approached the club a few years back with some thoughts on the badge design and clubs branding, as we heard nothing back we started getting ideas out via social media and again tried to make contact with the club - eventually they responded and we have since managed to have input into the Crest redesign. Our initial thoughts can still be found here: futuredesigntrends.com/QPR/I'm a senior member of the team at DesignBridge: www.designbridge.com and Dan is a design director at Drinksworks: www.drinksworks.co.uk we have a wealth of experience in branding and packaging and created a number of crest options - from evolutionary to more revolutionary and more polarising. The option that the fans selected was entirely predictable and we were happy to help the develop and refine the more evolutionary crest - we worked with lettering artist Peter Horridge: www.horridge.com/wordpress/ to develop the crest and although we didn't have total control over the fonts used we are happy with the end results and hope that the fans will be too when its launched next month. We see the new Crest as a signifier of the club rediscovering its heart as it starts to lay the foundations for a bright future - it’s not just a badge on a shirt, it’s a symbol of belonging to something bigger, existing for generations before and after us. Cheers, Dan

Thanks Dan.
How much did it cost for the club to rediscover its heart with this design?
Cheers

Nothing - we are QPR supporters this was a dream job - we worked with their in house designers and did not request a fee - we have asked the club for a donation to the Stan Bowles foundation but it will be up to them how much that is.

Sorry Dan I think the designs you came up with were horrible. I assume you were under instruction but no variety and a poor cousin to a former badge. I'm hoping to be surprised but I'm not holding my breath.

No worries, I've been in design long enough to know that everyone has an opinion and if I'm honest the designs that were put out to vote by the club could have done with a few More stages of refinement but I'm hoping that once the final crest is released people will see a big improvement.

I think ANYTHING will be better than the the truly naff sh*te Briatore imposed on the club (complete with clipart 1970s football...).
I'm disappointed the club didn't consider a wider range of design options, rather than designs harking back to the past. That said, looking at Air Asia's Comic-Sans-like logotype, TF probably doesn't 'do' design... The design chosen simply puts us back to the pre-Briatore era - but at least fans (including me) liked the old one, and (hopefully) will like the new tweaked version.
Being so very similar, I do wonder why we simply didn't revert back to the old design 'as was'...
Nice gesture offering the work in return for a payment to Stan's foundation.

Actually I think its very decent that the crest is developed by QPR fans who are doing it for nothing other than a donation to the Stan Bowles foundation. Not everybody is going to like the design but at least we can agree its along the right lines from those put out in the vote. You will never please some who want to go back to the hammersmith crest, but the crests put up took a look at a lot of previous badges and tried to include them in some way.

Whether you like as much as the one you grew up with .. An updated version of the one before briatore is the way forward in my book as seems badge , kit and identity has been been blurred since this time . Said before on past badge discussions.Palace , Everton moaned about dates and fonts but badge always ,as soon as you looked at it said who they were! Feel that now with options we were given ,like as kit we may not like year on year says qpr ( mostly)!

Well done and I shall rethink my previous negative view point. I still say, thank F*** you never went the Foolham way.
