Whilst I know that you can't believe all you read, if this is true it says again that TF's failure to employ anyone on the Board that knew anything about football management still haunts us.
For those that missed it, here it is
"QPR want to sell Rob Green to offload his wages. The keeper out of contract in the summer however has a clause in his contract that means he will be given an extended deal if he plays more than 30 games this season"
My suggestion to JFH if we don't offload him (and who would have the liability) is to never play him again.
He only has to play 5or 6 games for the clause to trigger. So relegate him to the bench solely as cover for injuries.
No relegation clauses, ridiculous wages and clauses like this. How badly was (is) our Club run?

Flashback ROB GREEN SIGNS NEW TWO YEAR DEAL AT QPRimage: www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/player/rob-green-points-64064-1736998_613x460.jpgPUBLISHED 19:40 10th July 2014 by @qprfc QPR agree new two year deal with goalkeeper Rob Green ahead of new season ... GOALKEEPER Rob Green has signed a new two year deal at Loftus Road. Green, who has made 67 appearances in all competitions for the R’s, has put pen to paper on a new contract until the summer of 2016. Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, the 34 year-old – who was voted man of the match in our Championship play-off final victory against Derby County in late May – expressed his delight at penning a new deal, commenting: “I'm really pleased to have signed the contract. “The first thing on my mind, after relaxing and enjoying winning promotion, was to get my future sorted, so I'm delighted we've managed to get everything done ahead of pre-season.” He added: “I had a nice break after the long season. “I feel refreshed and recharged and I'm looking forward to the season ahead.” Green has endured a mixed time since joining the club in the summer of 2012 as a free agent, but having made the number one jersey his own last season, he is relishing a return to the top-flight of English football with the R’s. “At the start of last season all I was focused on was playing football - thankfully that happened and we got promoted at the end of it all. “This season is very much the same. I want to play week in, week out. “We want to aim high, but we won't get carried away. We learnt a lot of lessons last time, so we will keep our targets in-house and be fully focused on the season ahead. “We can’t underestimate the difficulties of the Premier League.” Green joins Clint Hill, Armand Traore and Alejandro Faurlin in committing his future to QPR following our promotion to the Premier League. Standard.
QPR have told Rob Green he will be dropped to the bench if he does not secure a transfer away from Loftus Road this month.
The goalkeeper will automatically earn an extension on his deal, which expires at the end of the season, should he play just five more times.
The 35-year-old has a clause written into his contract, which is worth around £40,000 a week, that he is guaranteed to get another one on the same terms when he reaches 30 games this campaign.
Green has already made 25 appearances and while Rangers have huge respect for the role he has played since joining from West Ham on a free transfer in 2012, they do not want to continue to pay his large wages, especially as they are unlikely to win promotion from the Championship this season.
He has been encouraged to find another club before the window closes on February 1 or face the prospect of spending the rest of the season watching from the sidelines.
Alex Smithies, who has made only four appearances after joining from Huddersfield for £1.5million last summer on a far smaller salary, will become the club’s new first-choice keeper. QPR are determined to lower expenditure and have been gradually selling all their highest earners since being relegated from the Premier League last May.
Green did try to secure a move last summer and held talks with West Ham, only for talks to collapse.

Everyone seems to be making the underlying assumption that Green would want to actually trigger the clause and spend another season here. If he did trigger the clause of course we would have a player under contract and could still sell him and demand a fee. If not he goes for free in the summer. Not so different to the Charlie situation is it? It's very different 57. I don't know, but I would assume that Green could insist on being contracted at his current rate of pay. And that he would have a sell on value of nowt! As the chances of another club paying him (a reported) £40k per week are also extremely remote, playing him five more times would cost over £2 million pounds in salary, plus the company part of NIC. Do the club also make contributions towards the player's pensions? This may seem a daft question, but would we not have to under reecent legistlation? If so, it would increase the cost of keeping him!

There's a lot of abuse aimed at Green on Twitter.
OK, £40k is pricey in the Championship, but he cost us nowt, went through a really sh*t time when Cesar was first choice, but bounced back and contributed massively to our last promotion season - and got an England recall.
He's been a model pro for us and I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes.

Not so different to the Charlie situation is it? Difference being, Austin can score goals and Green concedes them far too easily. Not that he is helped much by a crap defence but some of the goals he has let in are school boy errors. Hence our last goal conceded against Hull.

I just think Austin was different - because as we knew, his contract was set to expire in JUly - and he'd be going for nothing.
So we held out/or gambled on promotion....

I like Rob Green and feel we should hold onto him - he has experience - our defence is so quiet and we lack leadership when Hill is not playing - we would be even quieter without Green We need some leaders - Derry and Hill type of players - Green at least has stature and respect - if not amongst some of the supporters

However much we dislike FFP, it is a reality.

Is FFP still valid - I see Green leaving as a real worry with relegation just around the corner - we need his experience - It was a shame that Smithies was not available today to take his chance - hope it was just a coincidence his injury

The club should never have re-signed him really. They had a prefectly capable keeper in McCarthy but, like everything else at this club last few years, we managed to mess that up too.

Yeah we couldnt afford that Nomar Ironic back then we had a good number 2 as good as Green, didnt play him and he went. Now when he goes we have a number 2 that isnt as good imo.

QPR boss opens up on how they lost to Forest - and reacts to Rob Green contract situation The Rangers manager bemoans a first-half display at the City Ground that did for Hoops 1-0 and any chance of FA Cup progress Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink had no hesitation in answering how the third round tie at Nottingham Forest went south. "We lost it in the first half - that wasn't us," the frustrated boss rapped. "Me, I want to play with courage and on the front foot, and we did that in the second half. Now I want to play for 96 minutes." Rangers man in charge was unrepentant he made eight changes from the starting side that lost to Hull 2-1 last week that included a debut for third-choice keeper Joe Lumley. Hasselbaink said: "I wanted to give other people a chance and have a look at them. I'm happy I did. "Alex Smithies has been injured all week with an elbow, and Rob Green was ill. That's why he couldn't come to the game today. I thought Joe did very well." On the subject of Green, the gaffer tried to play a straight bat whether the veteran had a future at the club as news leaked of a contractual arrangement allowing the keeper a new contract if he makes 30 appearances - the tally currently stands at 25, but did hint the former England shot-stopper's days are numbered. "I'm not going to talk about contractual situations because he was ill. He's got a contract for six more months and that's what it is," he added. "Eventually, we need to get a younger goalkeeper because he's 35 years old. "We as a club are going in a different direction, but Rob Green has been and is still a great servant of the club." www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/qpr-boss-opens-up-how-10710441

Could argue about whether or not he's doing a good job (or done a good job). But now it's really a question of money. If Green wanted to tear up his contract - and say a new one at 10 K a week, we could talk

Lost it because you picked a ridiculous team. Game was there to win , confidence breeds confidence. 6 games without a win, you might have thought he would try and win one.
Obviously the board has said you can lose in the Cup and get relegated we dont give a hoot, you still have a job next season if we are in league one. Which will be handy as He has managed in that division.

It was good that the likes of Luongo and Gladwin were given a decent run out. He knows how Austin, Fer, Sandro and Phillips go. No need to have them there at a "meaningless" Cup game IMO. The style of football he wants is found in what he said, "We lost it in the first half - that wasn't us," the frustrated boss rapped. "Me, I want to play with courage and on the front foot, and we did that in the second half. Now I want to play for 96 minutes." Few fans wouldn't want football played "with courage and on the front foot". Let him have time to find the players in the squad who'll be with us next season who are willing to play the JFH way!

Maybe. He could look at them in friendlies. To be honest how the hell could Loungo show what He's made of with players like Tozser alongside him.
We dont have much time to mess about looking at players , we need 6 wins fast or we are right in the crap. Warnock didnt worry about looking at players, he did we he needed to do, grind out a couple of wins.
If Warnock didnt grind out those two wins, we would be 1 defeat off relegation places.

Well if QPR want him to stay.have to put up with it. He did play well in the playoff final, can't take that away from him. But his wages and age should have been considered much more carefully when we looked at the end of his last deal. Green is one of many we should have moved on a while ago. The club are handling this poorly now and its not Green's fault we gave him a ridiculous contract with stupid incentives. He's been a pro all throughout and deserves to be treated better than this.
