The 53 year-old, who hails from Baltimore, USA, will officially join QPR for the 2015/16 season from Burnley, where he has held the CEO position since December 2011. QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes believes Hoosโ arrival completes the new-look senior management set-up at the club, commenting: โLee was the stand-out individual from a very impressive list of candidates we spoke to during an extensive interview process, so Iโm delighted heโs accepted the role of CEO. โHe has experience of working in football, which was key. Heโs been responsible for creating and implementing strategies across all areas at his previous clubs, as well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the business, so he is exactly what we were looking for. โWith Leeโs arrival this summer, complementing the recent appointments of Chris Ramsey (Head Coach) and Perry Suckling (Academy Manager), we will have a full senior management team in place at a hugely important and transitional time for this club. โWe know there is a rebuilding job required here, and with Lee, Ruban Ghandinesen (Finance Director) and Les Ferdinand (Director of Football) working closely with myself and the shareholders, I believe weโve got a structure in place to achieve our objectives of getting the club back on a level footing and re-establishing the traditions of QPR.โ image: www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/player/tony-fernandes-fans-newcastle-61364-2464340.jpgTONY FERNANDES FANS NEWCASTLE 613 APPOINTMENT: Tony Fernandes has appointed Lee Hoos as CEO of QPR Hoos has vast experience in football, having worked for Southampton, Leicester City and Fulham prior to his appointment at Turf Moor, and he is relishing the challenge of his new role at Loftus Road. โI'm excited about working for QPR and the challenges that come with the role of being a CEO,โ he told www.qpr.co.uk. โI'm fully aware of the transitional phase this club is going through following its relegation to the Championship, but I am encouraged about the vision of the owners, and Les and Ruban, who I am looking forward to working alongside. โI join with high hopes about the shared vision of everybody at the club. Also just seen accounts from Burnley and Leicester fans saying he was terrible at getting deals over the line. Apparently Pearson at Leicester despised him

Burnley, Southampton and Leicester three moderately sized clubs who have had success and seem well run, this looks really goo...And he's terrible and everyone hates him. Alright then. Out of those three, only Burnley have been well run while he's been there. You have to think it was a while back he was working for Leicester and Southampton. He was working for Leicester under Manderic where he personally messed up several transfers such as getting Cleverly on loan because he tried to strong arm Man Utd. Southampton were on their decline and in a mess when he worked there.

He was at Southampton for two seasons just after they had been relegated from the PL and my impression is that he walked into a quickly deteriorating situation (guess he hasn't learned his lesson in that regard) and may have been given responsibilities he was not originally hired, and therefor prepared, for. As for Leicester and Burnley, I think any one of us would have snapped your hand off if you offered us the stability, work rate and work ethic of those teams. Not saying he is responsible for all of that, but surely it's clear he has yet to oversee a complete s%*t show like we have at Rangers. None of those teams are 160 million pounds in debt
Plus, he sold us Charlie didn't he?

What I understand is at saints no money was available for transfers so lot of the board stood down and made him CEO. Suppose you can't do a lot negotiations with no money, so he resigned. Seems pretty decent chap to me, business wise.
And trying to "strong arm man utd is alright with me.

Did he try to strong arm UTD or did he just refuse to be bullied by them?

Did he try to strong arm UTD or did he just refuse to be bullied by them? He got aggy with them over a ยฃ50k loan fee for Cleverly and phoned them up telling them they were doing Utd a favour. They loaned him out to Watford instead and Pearson almost walked out the club

I'd of course be interested to know as much as possible re our new CEO
But now that he's here, I'm most interested in judging him how he does; whether he meets fans; what he says - and compare with what he does, etc, etc.

Why did the successful clubs let him go! Then Burnley who we hold hands with in our descent into the maelstrom of lower leagues. He could help us go down to Div 1. But he knows his football. Also from America, where only an Englishman knows the English leagues. Its all so Barmy.

โHe has experience of working in football, which was key." Fu(k me Uncle Tony, it only took you four years to work that out. This after the genius pointed out that it took him three years to realise that relegation is a possibility in football and that they've put relegation clauses in last years contracts. He really should just STFU. As far as Lee Hoos is concerned, OK, we'll see how he goes. Any chance we'll get the OSC back or have our benevolent owners, via their proxy his predecessor, killed that one off for good?

Also, this quote from an interview with a BFC fan site might tell you where he stands on ticket prices which I know is a big issue...he doesn't make promises about lowering prices but at least he's thought it through.
โMy job is to try and maximise what I can, not because Iโm trying to skim the fans, but because itโs about putting the product on to the pitch. I can charge less, but then itโs like any business, if I charge less, youโre going to get a lesser product. Is that what you want, because if I put out a team of League One players, guess where weโll end up? Itโs dead simple. What do you really want? Itโs just trying to get the balance right, trying to find the logical entry level prices, because a season ticket behind the goal, we do a 10-monthly interest free period. Thatโs ยฃ329, that comes out for less than ยฃ15 a match, over the course of a season. So I am trying to get those entry level prices in.โ

Burnley Perspective www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/burnley_fc/news/12962611._/?ref=mac"... Peter Pike, chairman of the Clarets Trust, said he believed Hoos has done a good job during his time with the Clarets. He said: โI think Lee has done quite a good job in his time at the club, although I know plenty of supporters will have a different view on that. โI am very surprised that he has left Burnley, who have a sensible and considered spending regime, he is going to QPR, a team that has spent lavish amount of money, and many people would say have spent irresponsibly in recent years. That does surprise me. โI donโt think he can be held responsible for the failure to sign anyone else during the January transfer window. The club thought they had two deals done on deadline day only for other parties to change their minds. โOn the whole I think he has done many good things for the club.โ ..."

Thought there was an interesting point in there about things being lost in translation between Hoos and fans because of his tendency towards speaking in 'management-speak' and apparently seeming to say a lot without it really meaning much at all (or...management-speak). Communication has been a massive problem at QPR between fans and the upper echelons of the club, so I'm hoping that improves - he at least has a track record of speaking to fans - it's just whether we'll be able to pick up the meanings between talk of synergy and blue sky thinking! In terms of the way he speaks about it, I suppose that's a fairly frequent problem you get in football when you're approaching a football club with different priorities (i.e. both may care, but one is paid to maximise profit and deliver efficiency, the other pays through loyalty). Either way, he's worked in football which in itself is a massive improvement, so good luck to him. I get where he's coming from with his comments about having to convert income into a product on the pitch that's quoted earlier in the thread (i.e. pay less, you get less), but feel like he's being a bit extreme about that. May have been more relevant to Burnley, but gate receipts and season ticket sales, whilst important, aren't the bedrock of clubs' finances like they used to be. Certainly not in the Prem, but still less so in the Championship than it used to be. It's TV money, sponsorship, corporate partnerships and (in our case) parachute payments all playing a role too right? So I get where he's coming from but it seems a bit far-fetched to me to make out like adjustments to the ticket prices make a change significant enough to mean fielding a League One quality side over a Championship one. Or maybe this is my sheer ignorance of football economics/Burnley.

โI think Lee has done quite a good job in his time at the club..." Damned with faint praise...?? Well, I think he answers his own point... clearly the board wants someone in to tighten control on spending. Dare I say "lessoned learned"? Exactly - he's moving from a place where he helped implement "a sensible and considered spending regime" and thus he is in demand to provide a similar service elsewhere (ie. "a team that has spent lavish amount of money...[sic]"). Common sense isn't it?

So Mac and Mark is this another lesson learned then??? After four years of laughable incompetance, I certainly hope so. I just hope that he doesn't use the fact that we're ยฃ200m+ in debt against the fans in order to justify high ticket prices as that really is a result of the board's mismanagement and shouldn't be looked to be gained back from the fans. JJ, I'm also touched that you specifically requested my thoughts on this. Personally I don't feel that I'm that relevant to any of this, but Thank you nonetheless.
