Justin Edinburgh: Gillingham boss hopeful of Max Ehmer deal Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh says he is hopeful of signing QPR defender Max Ehmer on a permanent deal. The 23-year-old German, who made 29 appearances for the Gills after signing on loan in November, has one year left on his contract with the London club. "If he becomes available we would love to bring him back here," Edinburgh told BBC Radio Kent. "There are talks between Max and QPR next week, and if they go to plan then we'll hopefully come to an agreement." Meanwhile, Edinburgh said that he wanted to retain the majority of his squad after guiding the club to 12th place in League One in 2014-15. Goalkeeper Stuart Nelson and midfielder Josh Pritchard have both requested to leave the Priestfield side. "Apart from Josh and Stuart, everyone else that is contracted to this football club is going to play a big part in what we do here next season," he added. "The squad is a strong squad, with quality and competition." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32995523

QPR ready to swoop for Wanderers midfielder DEMANDS: Darren Pratley has been linked with a move away from the Macron First published 46 minutes ago in Bolton Wanderers The Bolton News: Photograph of the Author by Marc Iles, chief football writer QPR have emerged as a strong contender to sign Wanderers midfielder Darren Pratley. The Bolton News understands the 30-year-old has opened talks about a return to West London, where he previously played for both Fulham and Brentford, and also has other options on the table. Wanderers insist they have not given up on keeping Pratley at the Macron Stadium next season and have made him a fair offer. But with the wage structure tighter than ever this summer, Neil Lennon would be unable to match the Hoops financially if their interest progresses. Ipswich Town were strongly linked with a move for the midfielder last week but local sources claim they were unable to meet his salary demands after brief discussions. QPR boss Chris Ramsey has already signed Swindon pair Ben Gladwin and Massimo Luongo but lost a number of players after being relegated from the Premier League and wants another midfielder on board, with Pratley potentially seen as a replacement for Joey Barton. He is also looking towards home-based players after the club made several expensive mistakes in their sole season back in the top flight and could be under pressure to sign players early, with Financial Fair Play sanctions a very real possibility in the foreseeable future. Ramsey is being helped in that matter by ex-Wanderer Les Ferdinand, who was recently installed as the director of football. Pratley rejuvenated his Whites career last season under Lennon after failing to win over fans in his first few seasons with the club. He finished the season with five goals – including a burst of four in six games over the festive period – but was sidelined in January with a serious hamstring tear. The former Swansea City man had returned to training by the end of the campaign but was not risked in the final few weeks. Lennon had described the midfielder as a “giant” at the turn of the year and was looking forward to seeing him in full flow again next season. “Before his injury he was really important for us,” said the manager. “I didn’t think it was necessary to take any risks because it was a really bad tear he suffered. He’ll hopefully be back fit and fresh for us in pre-season.” www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wanderers/13312260._/?

Anfield legend Steve Nicol isn't impressed, though, and he's warned his old club to steer clear of signing the QPR man. In May, I conducted a poll on the site, asking fans to choose between Ings and Austin. A whopping 75% of fans preferred Austin over Ings. When asked over the weekend about Liverpool's interest, Nicol admitted that Austin 'has talent', but argued that he'd probably follow the same underwhelming trajectory as Adam Lallana, another British player with 'ability, skill, and a little something different': “Lallana...hasn’t worked [and] he [Austin] is going to be another player that falls into the category. Liverpool need to sign players that from the get go we know what we are getting and [will] drive the club forward from the situation.” I totally agree with Nicol here. Last summer, I argued that Liverpool would not move forward with the likes of Lallana and Lambert, and it's exactly the same this year: Milner, Ings, Clyne, Austin et al will NOT push the Reds to the next level, and it's endlessly depressing to see the club linked with such (comparatively) average players. If, however, Rodgers is dead-set on signing one of either Ings or Austin, then there's only one winner (IMO): The case for £15m-rated Austin, recently described by Harry Redknapp as an 'unbelievable' striker

I reckon that if we can't guarantee McCarthy being first choice at the start of the season, he will want to leave and rightly so. What on earth would be the point of buying McCarthy last year only to let him go this? If we are seriously going to chase promotion next season, why shouldn't we have two decent keepers? He seems good for his age, but by no means the finished article. He has a contract, so have him continue to develop and learn from one of the best professionals in the game. Or if he craves first team football, loan him out, but with a clause which says if Green gets injured he's to come back. The first part of your answer is the motivation behind what I'm saying - why are we buying a goalkeeper of his age and quality just to not play him or let him go? If we don't start him as number 1 in the Championship, plenty of clubs will be interested in snapping him up. If Green doesn't get sold, then I guess loaning him may well be a good idea. Edit: I'm working on the assumption that we secured his signature in the face of all that competition on the basis of him having a good shot at first team football in the short/medium term.

Pretty much all done now except the medical I believe. Lambert will be moved on. Sturridge will get some minutes in between inevitable injuries. Origi is supposed to be playing for them next season too. Yeah, I agree with the Liverpool fan quoted above. Other than Sturridge that's a pretty uninspiring list for a club hoping to make the top 4. Austin is better than Ings too. Liverpool fans got that right, but Ings is younger. Ings Prem conversion rate isn't as good as Charlie's.

QPR and Brentford are battling it out to sign Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo on loan. The Nigeria international, who has yet to make his debut for the Blues since signing for the club in January 2012, spent last season on loan at Championship play-off finalists Middlesbrough. However, after making just 19 appearances at the Riverside, the 21-year-old is looking to get his career back on track. Fellow West London sides QPR and Brentford are keen to offer the former Standard Liege youngster another crack in the second tier. However, the duo will have to see off competition from Ligue 1 side Lille for his signature. www.shoot.co.uk/category/news/qpr-and-brentford-in-race-for-chelsea-defender/

Go scum, you sign up a player and dont play him for 3 years and thus stop anyone else using him and his career suffers. Great logic if one is a cynical cnut. They usually loan them out, though, same as they have done with Bamford and Lukaku. Most of the kids its unlikely they'll make the grade at Chelsea but occasionally someone like Loftus-Cheek breaks through. I honestly can't really blame them for wanting first dibs on young talent. I get more annoyed at promising young players like Scott Sinclair that sign for teams like Man City knowing full well they will likely be sitting on a bench for 2 years before they realise that they need to move on if they want to kick a competitive ball in anger ever again. Some moves are blatantly obviously not going to work out. Sinclair could develop much better staying where he was than moving to a top 4 club where he was going to struggle for game time. In fact, that is the principle that Gladwin and Luongo gave as the reason to sign for us instead of Villa, where they knew they'd only be bit part players.

Middlesbrough to battle West Ham, Palace, QPR and Everton to sign £10million Championship star 10:04 07 June 2015 Brad Pinard Jordan Rhodes of Blackburn Rovers (Photo by Clint Hughes/Getty Images) Middlesbrough are set to make a £10million bid to sign Jordan Rhodes from Blackburn this summer. The Scotland international is one of the most sought after talents outside the Premier League but Rovers’ hefty price tag is putting teams off. Boro however are happy to fork out the cash as they feel the addition of Rhodes would aid a Premier League push after losing in the play-off final to Norwich last month. Boss Aitor Karanka is resigned to seeing loanee Patrick Bamford either stay at Chelsea or join a Premier League club on loan next season, so wants Rhodes to fill those boots. West Ham have been long term admirers of Rhodes and despite not having a manger, chief David Sullivan is running the transfer side of the club at present. The Hammers need strikers as returning from injury Diafra Sakho appears to be their only first choice forward available at present, with injuries and international duty taking its toll on the squad. QPR are also eyeing up Rhodes to boost their promotion push but will wait on Charlie Austin’s departure before making any enquiries for the striker who notched more than 20 goals in a season for the sixth successive year last term. Crystal Palace, Everton, Newcastle and Hull are all monitoring the situation too but the £10million price-tag is putting some teams off. Report: Sunderland and Chelsea interested in Queens Park Rangers’ Robert Green Sat 16 May Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Robert Green is reportedly being targeted by Premier League duo Sunderland and Chelsea. Sunderland are interested in signing Robert Green from Queens Park Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun. It has been reported by the British tabloid that Sunderland’s Premier League rivals Chelsea also want to secure the services of Green. However, QPR, who got relegated from the Premier League to the Championship at the end of the recently concluded 2014-15 season, want the goalkeeper to sign a new contract. The England international’s current deal with Rangers runs out in June 2016, and the London outfit reportedly want him to put pen to paper on a new three-year deal. Green was one of the best players at QPR in 2014-15, and it makes sense for the Rs to keep hold of him. However, the former West Ham United star may not like to play in the Championship, especially if he has offers from clubs from the English top flight. The 35-year-old is not going to be the first choice at either Chelsea or Sunderland, but he will have the status of a Premier League goalkeeper. At the Stadium of Light, Green would be coming in for Vito Mannone, who could be sold by the Black Cats this summer, according to The Chronicle (click here to read more). A spot in the Chelsea squad could open up for Green if the Blues sell Petr Cech, who has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United by The Telegraph. hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/06/07/report-sunderland-and-chelsea-interested-in-queens-park-rangers/

From The Eagles Element theeagleselement.com/2015/06/07/exclusive-qpr-chasing-glenn-murray/?EXCLUSIVE: QPR CHASING GLENN MURRAY QPR are chasing Palace hitman Glenn Murray and the new Hoops boss Chris Ramsey sees him as the ideal replacement for departing striker Charlie Austin. Murray, who featured 17 times for The Eagles last season, is believed to have no interest in leaving the South London club after showing some great form at the end of last season. Alex White It is no secret that the Palace manager Alan Pardew is in the market for strikers but the 31 year old centre forward is willing to fight for his place in the team. The former Rochdale man joined Palace back in 2011 on a free transfer from arch rivals Brighton and he upset the Brighton faithful after turning down a new deal to join Dougie Freedman’s side. Murray was in high demand that season as he netted an impressive 22 league goals but Selhurst Park was his chosen destination. At first Murray struggled to adapt with life in South London and only managed a disappointing 6 league goals in his first season but did of course did manage to net in a memorable return to the South Coast as Palace ran out 3-1 winners at the AMEX Stadium. In his second season Murray became a Palace legend as he ended the season with a stunning 31 goals which guided the club to the Play-offs. It was in those Play-offs where Palace fans hearts were broken as the striker picked up a serious knee injury keeping him out for around 9 months. Murray featured a few times under Tony Pulis but never cemented a place in the starting 11. Murray started this campaign by being told he wasn’t wanted by Neil Warnock and sent out on loan to Reading with a view to letting the striker go permanently in January. Pardew’s love from Palace fans grew even stronger as on his arrival he recalled Murray and handed the striker a new deal. Pardew’s faith in Murray paid off as the Englishman netted an impressive 7 goals in 17 games in the league and arguably his goals ensured Palace’s rise to mid table.

From the Swansea Way theswanseaway.co.uk/2015/06/jazz-linked-with-derby-qpr-fulham/?Jazz linked with Derby, QPR & Fulham Posted By: TheSwanseaWayon: June 07, 2015 Regular first-team football seems to have drifted further and further away for Jazz Richards over the last few seasons, and it’s completely understandable that he’s now looking to move on this summer – in truth it’s perhaps surprising he hasn’t looked to depart earlier. But with Rangel & Naughton ahead of him in the race for right-back it’s now impossible to see him getting a run of games in the side, something which has seemingly forced both his and the club’s hand into prospecting for a move elsewhere. Rumours of a £500k move (which seems a little cheap) are already abounding with QPR, Fulham & Derby all listed as potential destinations. From a footballing point of view he’d surely be best served heading for Derby County – who’ve just appointed highly-rated Paul Clement as boss – who play good football and have a solid base on which to build. As for Fulham – where Jazz has previously spent time on loan – there’s nothing overtly wrong about a move to the Cottagers, but Derby would seem a more natural fit given his upbringing at Swansea City. QPR doesn’t even bear thinking about, but stranger things have happened and despite supposed heavy sanctions owing to FFP, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the financial package they offer is far superior to that offered by either Fulham or Derby. Whether any of the trio of clubs rumoured to be interested in his signature make a concrete offer in the near future remains to be seen, but with a good pedigree and a handful of Welsh caps Jazz won’t be short of offers. If and when he does depart, he’ll do so with no shortage of affection from the Jack Army, having come close to regular first-team football on a number of occasions but ultimately falling just short every time. While he may not play for the Swans again he’s almost certain to feature for Wales in future, and that alone is worth wishing him well for. Hopefully Jazz can resurrect his career wherever he ends up, and go on to fulfil the potential he’s always shown.

From vitalfootball, vital chelsea Green Plan Hits Trouble When it first became a possibility that Petr Cech might be leaving Chelsea Football Club this summer, the press weren`t slow in latching on to any gossip relating to a replacement for the Czech international. One name that came up as a possible option was that of the former England keeper, now on the books of Queens Park Rangers, Robert Green. The insinuation being that the thirty-five year old would probably be released by Queens Park Rangers and would jump at a return to the Premier League, albeit as the deputy to Thibaut Courtois. Well it now appears that possible plan might be looking to be flawed with it being rumoured that Queens Park Rangers are preparing to offer Green a new three-year deal and that Green, who joined Queens Park Rangers during a low point in his career, might be prepared to show loyalty and remain at the Championship club. If so, we wait for the media to offer any other possible names as the back-up to Thibaut Courtois next season. Read more: www.chelsea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=554096#ixzz3cNbqCBhI

Although, McCarthy would be a better long term aim for the club. Regular first team football might see him get back to where he was - a half decent keeper. Green would be getting that one last big pay day imo. 3 year deal? Lessons learned, yeah right.

Mmmm, I have my doubts. "Beware of Greek Clubs bearing Gifts." I looked at this players record. Last season, 49 games 19 goals. BUT in the previous SEVEN seasons 82 games 9 goals. I,m not sure that there are many Greeks, who have performed that well in the UK. I feel that we can find someone much better in the UK. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikos_Karelis

Brentford ‘happy to negotiate’ with QPR concerning transfer of Andre Gray, confirms Rasmus Ankersen Sat 16 May QPR want to sign Andre Gray, and Brentford are willing to listen to offers for him. QPR are keen on signing the 23-year-old forward this summer, and Brentford director of football Ankersen has admitted to GetWestLondon that the Bees will listen to offers if they match their valuation. Ankersen said: “We’re not actively working to move players on but if the price is right for certain players we'll be happy to negotiate with interested clubs.” This is certainly pleasing for QPR, who are linked with making move for Gray in the same report. Gray, a 23-year-old striker, is certainly a step in the right direction from the R’s, and interest in him shows that the club are looking to revamp their squad with youth and potential rather than overpaid, ageing stars who cannot perform. The West London outfit have already confirmed the signings of Ben Gladwin and Massimo Luongo from Swindon, and Gray is another move towards a youthful, attacking squad. Gray netted 18 goals for the Bees last season, registering a further six assists, and impressed with his live-wire play on the frontline doing much to impress. However, with Mark Warburton leaving the club, and Brentford hiring new head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen, it could come that Gray is allowed to leave as the Dutch boss rebuilds his playing squad. The comments from Ankersen suggest that he is willing to let Gray leave, and although QPR are a direct rival in the search for promotion to the Premier League, the R’s may just steal in and sign the exciting forward. hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/06/08/brentford-happy-to-negotiate-with-qpr-concerning-transfer-of-and/

From ladbrokes.com news.ladbrokes.com/football/premier-league/saints-edge-spurs-villa-england-newbies-bet.html?SAINTS EDGE OUT SPURS AND VILLA AS ENGLAND NEWBIE’S BEST BET The QPR forward has no shortage of options to consider this summer 8 June 2015 Charlie Austin will not have been delighted to spend the whole of England’s friendly with Ireland sitting on the bench, but at least it gave the QPR striker time to consider his options this summer. The 25-year-old is on the shopping list of several Premier League sides after scoring 18 goals in 35 league appearances for the Rs this season, and picking between them will be no easy task. Of course much will depend on which teams are prepared to meet QPR’s valuation of Austin, which is reportedly at least £15m, but if the striker does get to choose between them, we at news.ladbrokes think Southampton is the best option available. Along with the Saints, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are apparently in the hunt, but alarm bells should be ringing for Austin when he considers any of those three sides. Spurs might have finished the highest of the quartet in the Premier League last term, but Mauricio Pochettino favours a one-striker system, and Austin faces little chance of displacing Harry Kane. The QPR man might be attracted by regular cup outings and the chance that Kane’s annus mirabilis is followed by second-season syndrome, but that’s not a risk worth taking with so many other options available to him. Newcastle would offer Austin regular football, but at the cost of joining a club at war with itself, and Jonas Gutierrez for one would have some advice about how the Magpies treat their playing staff under Mike Ashley. Aston Villa, who presumably would sign the 25-year-old as a replacement for Christian Benteke, would also likely give Austin the chance to carry on playing first-team Premier League football, but does he really fancy another relegation scrap? Meanwhile, Southampton offer the opportunity to join a thriving top-10 club in Europe, and Austin would need only to displace Graziano Pelle to become top-dog at St Mary’s. The Italian started life in the Premier League in spectacular fashion, scoring eight times in his first 10 games, but quickly went off the boil to leave the Saints in the lurch upfront. Pelle netted just four goals in 19 league games in 2015, and Austin would have to fancy his chances of displacing the 29-year-old if he moves to the south coast. Southampton are 12/1 to gatecrash the Premier League’s top four and claim a Champions League spot next term.

Southampton is the best fit for him but I wouldn't rule out Newcastle completely.
Charlie would be the new Shearer at Newcastle and would be adored by 50,000+ fans every home game. Plus he'd be reunited with Steve McClaren again, which seemed to work well for him last time they were together.
Newcastle could be a surprisingly decent place for him especially if Ashley spends a bit on getting some more quality players in there.

"But others who are a bit older and happy just to play football, and they have families that are happy in the area and stable think a different way, perhaps. “I have another year, so I’m still here for another year.” Unless you're Armand Traore or SWP. In which case you just refuse to go on loan and stay to "fight" for the place you never had to begin with and won't have even if you do stay.

Sylvain Distin released by Everton.
This time last year we may well have been in for him on a free.
This summer I'm looking forward to not being linked with every ageing former 'star' looking for a nice cosy pay cheque for a swansong season or two.

QPR target set to turn club down and sign with Bolton15:04, 10 JUNE 2015 BY PAUL WARBURTON Rs need to think again with Pratley staying put at Wanderers QPR look set to lose out on Darren Pratley who has opted to stay at Bolton Wanderers, it seems. Rangers sounded out the 30-year-old midfielder with a view to a return to London for the former Fulham player. But according to reports, Pratley is staying put after finally striking a new deal with Wanderers boss Neil Lennon at the Macron Stadium. Ipswich had also been in the running for his signature, although Rangers have already beefed up their midfield with the £3.5 million joint capture of Ben Gladwin and Massimo Luongo from Swindon Town.
