I wouldnt want Carlton Cole at our Club. If Charlie Left and we got 12-15 Million for him and Lambert came in for £3 Million even at that age, I would think not bad business providing we get a couple of young strikers in aswell. Ie. Buy a young striker Gestede or cheaper, plus someone like JET on a free .Lambert and Reece. You need 4 strikers in that division and its good to have at least one with experience IMO most clubs do. I would say a minimum of 4 strikers given we have to play at least 48 games next season (46 in the league, 1 FA Cup and 1 league cup). Last season we pretty much had just 3 - only a 4th right at the end with Grego-Cox. For me that doesn't leave you with much room for injuries, suspensions, loss of form and changes in formation i.e. 1-0 down in the last 10 minutes you want to able to throw a striker or two on. With Zamora and Vargas gone and Austin 99.9% likely to leave we are left with Grego-Cox. He might have potential and might surprise a few but even to survive at that level you need goals and I'd hope he would start the season at 3rd or even 4th choice striker. I'd hope we'd be looking to find an Austin type from League 1, someone with experience but who doesn't see us a step down or one last pay packet, a Premiership loanee and maybe a player needing a sideways move. Players I think the club should look at: Tom Bradshaw had a great season at Walsall and is only 22. He had injury problems but still managed 20 goals last season. I've not seen a lot of him but he's young, he's coming off the back of a goal-scoring season and QPR would be a step up. Dominic Solanke - Patrick Bamford will probably be snapped up by a Bournemouth/Watford type but if he were to stay in the Championship for another season I think he would be a great option to go for but if not then his club mate Solanke. Arguably if we've got Grego-Cox then why go for another team's youth player who has no experience at this level because from what I've seen and heard he's much better. Both though would fight for a match day squad place and the extra competition for places would help the players to stay focused. Solanke is just 17 but has spent the year training with the first squad. Mourinho rates him highly and thinks he has England potential. Mourinho said something along the lines that if Solanke doesn't play for England whilst he is manager of Chelsea then he has failed him. When he came on for Chelsea in the CL this year he looked comfortable outwide and typical Mourinho player in that when he lost the ball he went looking for it. Andre Gray, Rudy Gestede, Jordan Rhodes - Take your pick! All three have had excellent seasons in the Championship. Gray is 23 whereas the other two are 26 and 25 so all good ages. I've not see a lot of Gray but by all accounts an excellent footballer but slightly dodgy past so would be bottom of the three but people change and I don't know the kid so who knows. The other two are well known and both have been at Blackburn long enough now to see they aren't making great strides in the division so unless a Premiership team comes after them then why not make the sidestep on an improved contract. Dwight Gayle (on the right deal) - The last one is the risk but it's where LF would need to do his job to the absolute best of his ability because if we were to go after Dwight Gayle/Ricky Lambert/Carton Cole type then they have to be there for the right reasons, on the right deal and for the right contract length. Lambert and Gayle could stay for another season (or more in Gayle's case) in the Premiership picking up lots of money or they could drop down a division take a cut, play regularly and get a 2 year deal (Lambert) or longer for Gayle. Cole (I don't rate highly) but if CR/LF do then again they have to sign these types of players on the right deal. We've just seen the likes of JB, SWP, RD etc leave on huge contracts and replaced them with two kids on (I would hope) much less money. The last thing the club needs to do is to upset the apple cart by bringing in some fancy dan on a long term deal on huge money. A striker force of Gayle and Rhodes with Bradshaw as the wildcard and Solanke and Grego-Cox to keep them on their toes would be excellent. Nice to see you posting Sirpie. Some great names in there. Dont know the Walsall chap. I would take any of the others though, apart from Carlton Cole. I think Rhodes is possibly out of our price range, Gestede might be within our range but its a straight Championship swap, would he do that? Always liked Gayle ever since I see him play local football, when on loan at B Stortford. Agree 100 % that if Austin goes,we will need three other strikers to go with Grego-Cox. That might mean one will be a free transfer, Cole or JET I reckon. Not a great fan of either sadly.

From the Standard...
Chris Ramsey hopes to sign eight more players before pre-season training begins on June 29 following double swoop earlier this week.
Charlie Austin is the only Rangers player who has been the subject of enquiries from other clubs... Dunne may still be offered a contract... Faurlin’s offer still depends on his fitness....

The latest is that apparently Ramsey has persuaded him to stay He has 1 yr left on his contract I think? Shame for McCarthy, but have to trust that Ramsey knows what he's doing on that one. Personally, I'd sell him to Chelsea and start McCarthy, but Ramsey is a better judge than I am.

Seems to me our priorities right now should be right back (we don't have a single one at the club really) and Strikers.
Right Backs Alvas Powell, Portland Timbers - 20-year-old Jamaican International with silly pace who has been growing by leaps and bounds in MLS which is probably a Championship or League One level. I'll be interested to see how he gets on at the Copa America this summer. Andy Wilkinson, Free - Out of contract at Stoke, still only 30-years-old and while not every Stokies favorite he gives his all and can do a job at Championship level. Rhys Bennett, Rochdale - Can play Center back or right back, only 24 and the PL has been sniffing around. Strikers Keifer Moore, Free - He was just released by Yeovil (I know, I know not a great sign) but he's only 22, he's 6 foot 5, and he plays both center back and striker. We could probably get him for £1,500/week, why not take a flyer and try to coach him up? Duje Cop, Dinamo Zagreb and Cagliari - Helped keep his Italian side up while there on loan. Still room to grow at 25. Ishak Belfodil, Free - I think he was a target of ours last summer and had to terminate his contract with Parma because the club have gone tits up. Life really is more interesting with at least one north african diva. Carlos Munoz, Al Ahli and Chile - I know our two Chileans were identified as 'bad egss' last season but they were also the best players on the pitch when they featured I thought. He's scored 3 times in 10 appearances for Chile and didn't play much this season for his club because of some weird transfer dealings. Could be a cheaper version of Vargas which would be fine with me.

Just seen Newcastle have released Jonas Gutierrez, surely would be a perfect signing for QPR?

Just seen Newcastle have released Jonas Gutierrez, surely would be a perfect signing for QPR? Exactly the sort we need. Would do well at Championship level and would be good for our youngster to learn from and not as slow as Hill and Dunne.

If any of you are watching the U20 World Cup here in NZ, There's plenty of decent talent out there and if the club made their move before the big clubs came sniffing........

Thats no a reliable source though is it? A twitter account with 100 followers, could be an account made up by any of us Interesting to see a few reports saying Rob has turned down Chelsea and wants to stay at Rangers . Whilst thats great news, where does this leave McCarthy? Maybe a season with 48 minimum games guarenteed means they can both play games .

Harr, I have looked high and low, for transfer talk, nothing. Now, I,m no currency expert, and we are supposably offering 4 million pounds. Charlton FC, paid 800,000 pound for him in August 2012. According to transfer site, his present value, is 2.20 million pound. Question is, would we pay 4 million.??

Really not sure what to think about Green at the moment. I can really see us keeping him and letting McCarthy go which would anger some fans

One of the Kent papers are also onto this rumour but he certainly wasnt a prolific goalscrorer last season but was out injured for a bit of it I think. I fully expect three new Strikers at the Club this summer though and Charlie to go.

Brentford set to unveil Dutchman Marinus Dijkhuizen as new boss following Mark Warburton departure 22:30, 30 MAY 2015 BY DARREN WITCOOP Warburton was dismissed despite leading the west Londoners to a fifth place finish in the Championship last season 16 Shares Share Tweet +1 Dean MouhtaropoulosNew manager: Marinus Dijkhuizen is set to become the new Brentford boss Brentford will unveil Dutchman Marinus Dijkhuizen as their new manager this week. Dijkhuizen has agreed terms to replace Mark Warburton at the Championship play-off semi-finalists. Warburton was dismissed despite leading the west Londoners to a fifth place finish. And in his place will be taken by the Excelsior Rotterdam boss, who is a student of the stats based tool favoured by the Bees’ owners. Dijkhuizen, 43, also fits bill having guided Excelsior to 15th spot on a shoestring budget in the Eredivisie. The ex-Dunfermline striker will work alongside co-director of football Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles as part of a new management team. not saying this is true or that he's the answer or that I even know much about him but replacing Austin with a Rhodes/Assambolanga is going to cost £8-12m...far more likely we pick up someone like this who's shown potential but not a proven striker yet...remember Callum Wilson moved from Coventry to Bournemouth for over £3m last season off the back of one good season in League One...this guy has already scored 1 in 3 in the championship

I can really see us keeping him and letting McCarthy go which would anger some fans I reckon that if we can't guarantee McCarthy being first choice at the start of the season, he will want to leave and rightly so. Nothing against Green, just seems ridiculous to have a keeper of McCarthy's quality stuck on the bench considering who we had to beat for his signature when we signed him. Keepers need a run in a team and regular football to build confidence.

Proven performer and now England's number two keeper.

I reckon that if we can't guarantee McCarthy being first choice at the start of the season, he will want to leave and rightly so. What on earth would be the point of buying McCarthy last year only to let him go this? If we are seriously going to chase promotion next season, why shouldn't we have two decent keepers? He seems good for his age, but by no means the finished article. He has a contract, so have him continue to develop and learn from one of the best professionals in the game. Or if he craves first team football, loan him out, but with a clause which says if Green gets injured he's to come back.
