After many appearances in court being adjourned, this afternoon saw Hereford united being wound up.
As a resident of that county, I expect that bushman will know more about this subject than me.
However, I'm sure that the majority of their supporters will be celebrating tonight. The end of owners that continually failed to pass the FA's fit & proper test.

And still Chelsea live. It really guts me when clubs fold. Sure some of it might be mismanagement of funds etc, but it is the fans that lose out more than anyone. those fans that show up to watch their team week in, week out. Friggen disgusting and sad.

Well I watched hereford a lot growing up as a boy near by and more recently went to matches as a photographer there....I certainly wouldn't say the majority of fans would be celebrating tonight

jjqpr,
I based my comment on the many threads about this issue that appear on Non League boards & my understanding of the problems. The winding up of any football club is always a sad event, but a large number of their supporters thought this was the only way forward & have campaigned for this outcome.
This season there has been a well supported boycott of attending Hereford United matches. The supporters Trust has openly opposed this seasons owners & many have been waiting for yesterday so that they can start the process of forming a new club to rise from the ashes. I don't think there has been many crowds above 300 this season & traveling support of about twenty.
New directors have been registered with Companies House on a monthly basis & then been replaced as they failed the Fit & Proper test. At last, about ten days ago, after having been suspended by the FA from all football, they founf somebody to pass the test.
It seems stranges to me that having a business record of owning multiple companies that have been placed into administration or liquidation enables you to be regarded as fit & proper. It just indicates what the reputation of their other candidates must have been though!
A new club will rise & the supporters will be better for this, but it may be that Edgar Street has staged it's last match.

Good luck to Hereford. My view of Hereford indelibly marked by their non-Leage FA Cup win (when the FA Cup was a MASSIVE, serious competition)

I understand that the new club will be called Hereford FC & are due to play their first friendly on Boxing Day, away to Redditch.
This would replace the old club's league fixture. They also appear to have the support of the remaining members of the Newcastle cup victory, with Ricky George being a member of the trust Group.
Plans for the revival have been in place for months & were just awaiting the last rites of the old club.
