Got back from Ireland last night, here is my take on things and the trip if anyone is interested!
Dublin Saturday rained all day (typical), good performance against a weakened Shamrock Rovers who sacked their manager the night before. 3 at the back(im not convinced)the players look uneasy with this system. Caulker looks very strong and Traore was our outlet every time. Charlie looks slow and predictable but feed him in the right area and he will score. Great turnout by Rangers fans 500+
Monday Training at Carton House, Sun was out!!. Fantastic day and a credit to the club and all players. I think they were caught out though as around 500 turned up!
Training was interesting and more i see of Caulker the better he looks. Hoilett looks sharp and Hungry. Everyone took part in the session though Remy trained alone.
Every single player (and Harry and coaching staff) posed for photos and signatures with every fan there which i thought was a great gesture. Adel didn't look to happy with this and left early which was a shame. My nephew now has a plaster cast on his foot with Rio no 5 and Joey Barton signatures on it, he has now declared he does not want this removed! There was a funny moment when a young girl in a Liverpool shirt approached Remy, he gave her the thumbs down and said no, which brought a good laugh!!
The players chatted away and i asked Traore, Onouha and Caulker about playing three at the back, getting mixed responses. Caulker seemed more relaxed with the system. I chatted with Joe Jordan and asked are we ready? His response was, we need a high intensity match with atmosphere. Hopefully we will get this Saturday.
Tuesday evening Athlone Town raining again!, went to the Buccaneers ruby club before the game. You could have been walking into the White Horse or the Adelaide, the pub was packed with Rangers. The match was low key, we ditched 3 at the back but caulker again was superb. Hoilett was our number 10 and played very well. Charlie got another (see above). 300+ Rangers and an enjoyable evening.
