I must admit that I fancied this game to end up in a draw. I would not be surprised if we fail to win an away game in the league all season. I just have a really bad feeling about the season ahead.

The fact that we are playing 2 friendlies in 2 days should tell you all you need to know about how seriously to take the result. At this stage its about getting increased minutes in whilst avoiding injuries. Sure, you can be disappointed in the result, but I wouldn't be overly concerned about it at this stage. Last night wasn't about the result, it was about getting more match fit.

I think we will fare better than would suggest from last night.
The team have another friendly tonight and assume that there will be wholesale changes as Harry tinkers around with formation. How many do you see from last night making the opening 11 for Hull?
I'm actually pleased that we are playing teams like Southend and Orient, if we remain in the Premier League then you can bet that next close season they will be on a trip to the Far East-playing games for the development and exposure of the Air Asia brand and come back knackered.
However we do look incredibly light up front and the Club needs to sort out the Remy situation quickly.
Will we win an away game?
I'll confidently forecast 'yes'………although there won;t be many!

It will be hard, of course, but Harry knows what we need so we have to trust him to get those players in. Its easy to look at pre-season games and get either excited or depressed depending on the results, but generally speaking results in pre-season games are rarely an accurate precursor to how a season is going to turn out. The trick is to accept it for what it is and be thankful that no one picked up a serious injury.

I think we better get those signings done soon They're working on it, mac. Window doesn't close till September 1st though and some players probably won't come until the last day.

I actually reasonably enjoyed the match last night. while the result means very little it would be nice to have a few wins under our belt before the Hull game though.
As nomar said, with playing at Southend tonight we can read very little in to the likely playing team as the priority is gaining fitness & experience of the playing system.
However, I hope we don't start the Hull game with the three centre backs not having played together previously. Come next tuesday, I would like to see us starting with the likely side to face Hull (apart from further additions & the fitness of Remy).

I see SWP started - does this mean anything? are we just short of personnel or will he be part of Harry's plans this season? he was not even a sub last season was he...

Well at the beginning of last season he was actually playing and on the boards was being praised...And then NOTHING for almost the entire rest of the season - with one brief return

Have to say that I was not greatly impressed with what I saw of SWP last evening. More of the usual from him. Thought Ehmer was pretty impressive but doubt he will make the 25.

I thought SWP was consistently good without the ball.

Harry may be just putting him in the shop window to try and get rid of him. We're right lumbered with him otherwise - all those wages with nothing to show for it. I can't see him suddenly winning his place back.

SWP cannot be in the 25 man squad , just pay him off and get shot , one of the worst ever QPR players not even the goal against Chelsea redeems him , shockingly bad player who wil never be anything else , it's not as if he'll mind anyway I'm sure he's quite content to sit at home picking up his 60k a week !

Couldn't agree more. Probably, standing in the right place at the right time, any one of us in our day might have scored that goal against Chelsea. One swallow doesn't make a summer and one goal doesn't make SWP a great player!

It's not just his inability to play good football, it's his attitude and taking the p*ss that sticks in my throat.

How did he ever get to play so many games for England? Interesting to see the following on Wikipedia:
ESPN describes him as "a wonderful dribbler of the ball, he has pace to burn and creates numerous chances for his team-mates."
Can't say I had noticed.
