Brief mention in Mail/Alan Biggs/ But could just be speculation.Mail - McCabe desperate to keep Blackwell at Sheffield United after quit threatSheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe held urgent talks with Kevin Blackwell last night after being left stunned by his manager’s revelation that he might quit in the wake of the club’s Wembley defeat to Burnley. McCabe had no intention of replacing Blackwell and hopes it was a heat-of-the-moment reaction by Blackwell who was clearly distraught after losing the Championship Play-off Final. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1188378/McCabe-desperate-Blackwell-Sheffield-United-quit-threat.htmlThe Blades chief went into the meeting with a resolve to persuade Blackwell to continue — providing he confirms that he overreacted and pledges his commitment to the job amid rumours of interest from QPR. If there are any grey areas, a swift parting is likely. Midfielder Nick Montgomery agreed a one-year contract extension yesterday, but Aston Villa are ready to make a bid for highly-rated youngster Kyle Naughton

And The Mirrror QPR move in on Blackwell 27/05/2009 Kevin Blackwell could quit Sheffield United to make a surprise move to ambitious QPR before the weekend. Blackwell was frustrated with the Blades after their play-off defeat and could meet QPR in the next few days. He knows he will have to slash the payroll at Sheffield after they missed out on a £ 60m fortune. And he could fancy a crack at QPR''s promotion push after admitting the lack of parachute payments will hit the Blades hard. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/05/27/qpr-move-in-on-blackwell-115875-21392241/

The Sun (No QPR Mention) Kev cuts up beaten Blades By ANDREW DILLON Published: Today rigTeaserImage KEVIN BLACKWELL raised further doubts about his Sheffield United future with a brutal message to his side after the play-off defeat. The Blades boss warned of a huge clearout of players this summer after failing to win promotion. A club insider said: "The timing was awful. The players were on the floor after a narrow defeat in a huge game and were amazed at his attitude. "Kevin told them that loads of them would be getting the bullet to trim costs because they face a third season in the Championship. It hasn't gone down well. "He might as well have been reading the local traffic news instead of talking to some pretty disappointed players who had given everything." Blackwell hinted after the Burnley defeat he may leave and his comments will make it hard for him to regroup the players that do stay. But midfielder Nick Montgomery says Blades will bounce back. He said: "We have to turn this into a positive. We must remember how we did in the second half of the season, because we finished third on merit." www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2449775/Kev-cuts-up-beaten-Blades.html

I see he has previous.
Was he not sacked by Leeds for "Gross Misconduct" after making negative comment in the press about the clubs finances.....
Should fit in just fine with Flavio......

Didn't know that! I think it was his Leeds team which defeated a sick Ian Holloway'a team (of Paladini "I'm going to kill you. I'm going to F***ing kill you" fame) 6-1

Can't stand the bloke actually, Warnock offspring. Did a great job of slagging the ref thus ensuring they did not get either of two decent penalty shouts, one of which was nailed on. Talks too much, loves himself, don't want him at Rangers, I'd rather Boothroyd and that's bad

If we're really going for an English Championship manager, the one you'd think we could get/should get would be Johnson.
But again with rumours everywhere, Scott on WATRB is now suggesting looking abroad again.

Thanks!
BBC Blackwell to stay with Sheff Utd Blackwell took over from Bryan Robson in February 2008 Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell has agreed to stay with the Championship side.
Blackwell had been considering his future following Monday's 1-0 play-off final defeat by Burnley.
Blades chairman Kevin McCabe said: "Defeat in the play-offs is cruel but the fight goes on and, like me, Kevin is up for the challenge.
"Kevin is motivated and is up for the task of getting the Blades promoted next season."
McCabe added: "The club, players and the fans all took a blow after the Burnley game. We had been there before and we did not want to see another defeat.
"Kevin is no different. He has taken this club forward on the playing side from a difficult position in the league the season before last to the edge of the play-offs.
606: DEBATE Can Kevin Blackwell lead Sheffield United to the Premier League next season? "This season we have finished third in the league and narrowly missed out on automatic promotion.
"The club does lose its parachute payment for next season but we have built solid financial and off-the-field foundations at Bramall Lane which will enable us to compete.
"Our business model will enable us to invest not only at academy level, where we have seen young players like Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton evolve and come through to the first team, but also remain competitive in the transfer market.
"We have exciting plans to further enhance our stadium and most of all the backing of our supporters who have renewed their season tickets at an unprecedented level."
