From insidefutbol. Joey on Alexis Sanchez Alexis Sanchez Is Inconsistent, Arsenal Need More To Win Premier League Title – QPR Midfielder Joey Barton Saturday, 12th July, 2014 QPR midfielder Joey Barton has dubbed Arsenal's new signing Alexis Sanchez "inconsistent" and says he does not know why the club's fans have made such a fuss over the arrival of the Chile forward. Arsenal completed the signing of Sanchez on Thursday, splashing out between £30m and £35m to sign the forward from Spanish giants Barcelona. The Gunners managed to beat off interest from both Liverpool and Juventus to get their man, and were understandably delighted to win the race. Barton though believes that while Sanchez is talented, there are question marks over how consistently he produces on the pitch. The midfielder also claimed Arsenal will need "more" if they are to challenge for the Premier League title in 2014/15. Barton wrote on his Twitter account: "Am I the only one not overly wetting my pants over Arsenal signing Sanchez? From what I've seen of him he is incredibly inconsistant [sic]. "Yes, on his day he can light up a game. But as anyone who has watched Barca will tell you. His good games are as common as his bad", the former Newcastle player continued. "Whilst I think it will improve Arsenal. They still need more if they are to challenge for the title. Still think they need a bit of steel." However, Barton did suggest that a more important role may await Sanchez at Arsenal, in contrast to his role supporting Lionel Messi at the Camp Nou. "He plays better for Chile where he's the main man than Barca where he's in Messi's shadow. Will he be the main man at the Emirates?" .......and also from insidefutbol Saturday, 12th July, 2014 QPR midfielder Joey Barton has expressed his surprise that Liverpool did not fight to keep hold of Luis Suarez, following the striker's move to Barcelona being confirmed yesterday. The Reds have agreed to sell Suarez to the Catalan giants, however there is confusion over the transfer fee, with it being claimed as £75m in England, while throughout Spain and Europe the figure stated is €81m (£64.4m). Regardless, Barton believes the Reds should have pulled out all the stops to keep Suarez, with the deal appearing to easily go through somewhat early in the summer transfer window. Barton wrote on Twitter: "Some front two Barca have now with [Lionel] Messi and Suarez. Can't believe Liverpool didn't fight harder to hold on to him. "No disrespect but when are they ever going to get a genuinely, to World player [sic], who works as hard for the team, as Luis Suarez again? "He's was [sic] arguably the form player in the World [sic] last season. How do you replace that? Big test for Rodgers and co.." Suarez will arrive in Spain next week to undergo his medical with Barcelona and put pen to paper on a five-year contract at the Camp Nou. ..........and more from sportsmole www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/qpr/world-cup/news/barton-muller-will-overtake-klose_164718.htmlJoey Barton: 'Thomas Muller will overtake Miroslav Klose' By Liam Apicella, Features Editor Filed: Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 14:33 UK Last Updated: Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 14:37 UK Joey Barton has backed Thomas Muller to one day overtake his Germany teammate Miroslav Klose to become the World Cup's leading ever goalscorer. Klose came into the ongoing competition one goal short of Ronaldo, who found the net 15 times over three tournaments. However, goals in matches against Ghana and hosts Brazil took Klose on to 16, which has given the 36-year-old an outright lead. Queens Park Rangers midfielder Barton, though, believes that it is only a "matter of time" before he is surpassed by Muller. "Klose sets WC goalscoring record but it's only a matter of time before Thomas Muller takes it away from him. The mans a big game player," Barton wrote on Twitter. Twenty-four-year-old Muller, who is expected to start tomorrow's final, has 10 World Cup goals to his name.

From sportsmole. I totally agree with Joey www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/argentina/world-cup/news/barton-baffled-by-messi-award_165030.htmlJoey Barton "baffled" by Lionel Messi being awarded World Cup Golden Ball By Danielle Joynson, Staff Reporter Filed: Monday, July 14, 2014 at 08:32 UK Last Updated: Monday, July 14, 2014 at 08:34 UK Joey Barton has expressed his shock at Lionel Messi being named the best player of the tournament following Argentina's World Cup final defeat to Germany. The Barcelona forward was awarded the Golden Boot after yesterday's 1-0 defeat in the Maracana. The 27-year-old scored four goals and made one assist during the tournament in Brazil, but Barton believes that there were a number of players that performed better than the former Ballon d'Or winner. Barton wrote on Twitter: "Still baffled by Messi winning 'best player' award." Last night, the Queens Park Rangers midfielder tweeted: "Thomas Muller. James Rodriguez. Mascherano. Kroos. Hummels. Sanchez. All better at this tournament than Messi. "But for me Arjen Robben was the best individual at this World Cup. Messi should send that in the post to him." Meanwhile, Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was awarded the Golden Glove, while France's Paul Pogba earned the Young Player Award.

Joey coming out of international retirement?! From insidefutbol Joey Barton Sends Pick Me Plea To England Manager Roy Hodgson 14/07/2014 - 16:16 PM QPR midfielder Joey Barton has insisted he is available for England duty if selected by Roy Hodgson, claiming he feels he is good enough to play at international level. Barton, who turned out for QPR in the Championship last season and helped Harry Redknapp's men win promotion to the Premier League, won one senior cap for England in 2007, but has not been capped since. However, following watching the Three Lions at the World Cup, the 31-year-old feels he has what it takes to force his way back into England contention. "After reviewing England's performance at the WC, I have decided renounce my international retirement", Barton said via his Twitter account. "Having seen the standard, I believe its [sic] possible. Having played at the level before I feel I am a better player now than when I was capped. "People might not know whether I'm being serious or not. Trust me, I am deadly serious. "Thats [sic] all I'll say on the matter for now." Barton quick retracted his comments however, posting some 20 minutes later: "After a review of my reviewing process international aspirations will go on hold for the time being. Consolidating QPR in PL is No1 priority." Read more at www.insidefutbol.com/2014/07/14/joey-barton-sends-pick-me-plea-to-england-manager-roy-hodgson/150080/#oZXJCwQwhxhFdXiI.99

I must admit I'm with Joey on this. From the Irish Independent ‘F*** organised religion’ – Joey Barton wades in on Gaza conflict Published 18/07/2014|09:05 QPR footballer Joey Barton has laid the blame of mounting deaths in Gaza firmly at the feet of organised religion. The outspoken footballer has more than 2.6 million followers on Twitter and used the social media platform to highlight his views on the Middle East conflict. Yesterday Israel intensified its 11-day campaign against Hamas by sending in tanks and troops after becoming increasingly exasperated with unrelenting rocket fire from Gaza on its cities, especially following Hamas's rejection of an Egyptian ceasefire plan earlier in the week. Already today nearly 20 Palestinians and an Israeli soldier were killed as troops clashed with militants in Gaza after Israel launched a ground operation aimed at destroying tunnels and halting rocket fire by the enclave's Hamas rulers. Barton this morning tweeted his disgust at the latest developments, describing it as a “major blotch on humanity” - See more at: www.independent.ie/sport/leftfield/f-organised-religion-joey-barton-wades-in-on-gaza-conflict-30441495.html#sthash.AM7JerVz.dpuf

From the Offie JOEY BARTON: SQUAD HAPPY TO BREAK THROUGH PAIN BARRIER PUBLISHED 15:00 20th July 2014 by @qprfc QPR midfielder Joey Barton says he and squad fully prepared to put in hard yards in pre-season ... RANGERS' first-team squad have returned to Harlington for pre-season training this week. And midfielder Joey Barton insists the players are happy to do whatever is required to ready themselves for the new Barclays Premier League campaign. QPR, of course, are back in the big time after play-off final glory over Derby County in May – and speaking to www.qpr.co.uk, Barton said: “You’re looking to push on every day, even when you’re feeling the pain. “Every one of us will be going through a certain element of pain. “But it’s a great feeling. Some people don’t like it and drop out, but fortunately this year we’ve got a great set of lads. “Everyone has put the graft in so far. You know you’ve got to do it – it’s par for the course that you’ve got to get the fitness work done to enable you to have a successful season. “While it hurts when you’re out there, the minute you stop, you know you’ve put some good work in and feel fantastic.” Barton enjoyed a busy summer following success at Wembley. The 31-year-old became a father for the second time and juggled parenthood with taking his coaching badges with the Irish FA – and covering the World Cup in Brazil as a pundit. “I never stopped!” explained Barton. “I think I had about five days off in the summer. But it’s good, I’m relatively active anyway. “I had a break to recharge the batteries mentally. Now I’m looking forward to what will hopefully be an exciting season. “It’s good to be back. “Ending last season the way we did was a great way to bow out and sign off. “Once the new fixtures come out, you’re itching to get back and get pre-season underway, doing what we love to do – play football. “Next season we’ll be playing it at the highest level.” Next week, the R's step up their preparations with a week-long stay in Germany. Barton added: “We’re looking forward to it. “We’re busy taking it a day at a time at the moment. But once we start galloping through the pre-season friendlies and the team starts taking shape so you get a clearer picture of what might be for the opening day against Hull, I’m sure the excitement will grow. “We’re got to apply ourselves properly this year.” Joey Barton will be filming a video diary for www.qpr.co.uk for the trip to Germany. Keep an eye out both on the official website and our social media channels for more.
