I'm really starting to struggle with this concept of nearly half the team being owned by another Club.
The performance of most of those on loan yesterday was dire. I felt sorry in a way for Carroll and Keane who are probably two lovely lads but they are completely out of their depth in this division. The fact that neither 'hid' when spraying a pass to yet another Blackpool player was a credit to them.
But my worry is that Harry must think that these kids are considerably better than our own youngsters....how bad must they be?
Many posters on this messageboard for weeks have been saying.....why not give our youngsters a chance...... but the penny really dropped for me yesterday seeing a West Ham player try and pass to a Spurs player who tried to pass to a Man U player and they all ended up passing to a Blackpool player.
It seemed complete an utter nonsense.

Keane I agree with. Shows how bad our squad is when he lasts a whole game. This isn't going to be popular bit I think Carroll is a decent player.
Our side is so static it's a joke. He is probably the only player constantly moving to make himself available and actually links up play between defence, midfield and attack. I know he makes mistakes, but he works his nuts off for the team. He doesn't do fancy stuff, so a lot of it goes unnoticed. But I think we look even worse when he's not playing.

That's the thing, our youth players aren't bad at all, just it goes against Harry's way of doing things to use the clubs own youth, he'd rather his own tried and tested 30+ year olds.

If you believe in morale, think how it must feel to be a QPR youngster and to KNOW that however good you are; however hard you try, you're not going to get a chance.
(Although you will be highly hyped by the QPR Communications Department)
Maybe none of the current crop are good enough - following on a long, long line of QPR Development failures - but just the boost that would come to all the players - and to players thinking of joining QPR youth...
Forget finances and economy...

I agree with Rory that we have youth players good enough for this squad, but Redknapp is just too stubborn. Watching several of them play in the preseason, there seemed to be several that were ready, especially Sutherland and Yun Suk Young. If Hoilett can't play a full game, then I don't see why Petrasso can't start. At the same time, I do agree with Superckat, Carroll is a decent player.

I agree with this cat but I was hoping that Sutherland (until injured) would have been given the chance. Loaning Harriman & Hitchcock though & bringing in Hughes (non loan), Kean & Maiga. That is beyond my powers of understanding.

we can all keep going on about our youth players being good enough but we all know good old harrys philosophy by now , yun only got selected because there was nobody else not because harry selected him by choice more by necessity , what happened when simpson was injured and we knew he was out long term , in the transfer window we signed another thirty yr old in hughes , why did we not at least try to get harriman back who i believe a decent player , throughout this season our squad has been litterd with journeymen who are here for nothing else but to top up their pension pot they have no affinity with the club at all and are biding their time until returning to their respective parent clubs , i just hope that if we dont get promoted and redknapp goes that we appoint a younger more hungry manager who will give the younger players a chance and start building for the future , after all i believe the future of this club is with the younger players and not some over the hill thirty something yr olds , dont get me wrong obviously there has to be a blend of youth and experience but we have to give our youngsters a chance but that is not likely to happen under this current regime , so for me when we are not promoted redknapp walks away how glad will i be

Let's face it the recruitment of aged 30+ experienced players was all about an 'instant fix' and quick promotion- definitely not a long term policy. The fact that 2 younger promising talents ( Phillips and Austin)have both become injured has exacerbated the problem and again further old experienced players coming in offers no opportunity for the youth. As many have suggested our own youngsters could at least have had an opportunity!- the situation with injuries would have been an ideal chance for Yun,Petrasso,Hitchcock,Harriman to have been given a chance to prove themselves. The irony is that when they have played they have done ok-Hitchcock scored as a sub, Yun M.O.M, Harriman even played well in the Premiership !!-BUT of course after doing so didn't get to play again !! As others have said they wouldn't have done any worse than the 'loanees' from other clubs -would they? I too agree with Superk that Carroll is a decent player and is at least prepared to look for the ball-lack of targets ahead of him is what often lets him down and as said before our team's movement ahead of the ball is woeful and is the reason that we create very little.
