Now 7 Points behind 2nd place Burnley...5 points behind 3rd place Derby Dave McIntyre/West London Sport QPR beaten by injury-time goal at Charlton 22/02/2014 By David McIntyre Charlton 1 QPR 0 Johnnie Jackson’s injury-time header condemned QPR to a third consecutive defeat as their promotion bid suffered another setback. Boss Harry Redknapp, without the suspended Joey Barton, made major changes in response to recent back-to-back losses, with Benoit Assou-Ekotto among those left out as Rangers reverted to a three-man defence. There was a debut for loan signing Ravel Morrison, who volleyed over in the first half, while Nedum Onuoha, Tom Carroll and Jermaine Jenas were among those given starting places. It was a radical attempt by Redknapp to freshen things up, but his new-look team failed to register a meaningful shot on target in the first half and were fortunate not to go behind. They had a lucky escape when Jordan Cousins’ effort hit Rob Green’s left-hand post and the loose ball fell to Reza Ghoochannejhad, whose shot from near the edge of the box struck the other post. It was a similar story after the break and with Rangers unable to create a clear-cut chance, they were presented with one when Addicks keeper Yohann Thuram gave the ball straight to substitute Modibo Maiga. But the on-loan West Ham striker was unable to get the ball under control, summing up another disappointing afternoon for Redknapp’s side, who now trail second-placed Burnley by seven points. And in injury time, Morrison was unable to react quickly enough to convert from close range following Armand Traore’s low cross. When keeper Green then dived to his left to push away Astrit Ajdarevic’s powerful drive, he seemed to have spared his team another defeat. But QPR switched off at the resulting corner and Jackson netted at the far post. QPR (3-4-2-1): Green; Onuoha, Dunne, Hill; Hughes, Carroll (Benayoun 81), Jenas, Traore; Hoilett (Keane 59), Morrison; Doyle (Maiga 70). Subs not used: Murphy, Suk-Young, Henry, O’Neil. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-beaten-by-injury-time-goal-at-charlton

A draw seemed a bad result but to lose in soul destroying. We still have 15 games to go and have to keep the faith that we'll recover soon.
Tragic result for us. Absolutely gutted.

ESPN
harlton Athletic 1-0 Queens Park Rangers PA Sport Captain Johnnie Jackson headed home a stoppage-time winner as Charlton edged promotion-chasing QPR 1-0 in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.
Jackson nodded in an Astrit Ajdarevic corner from a tight angle at the back post to secure the Addicks' first league win since Boxing Day.
Hard-working Charlton nullified the threat of their rivals from west London, who have now lost three games in a row and are slipping well behind the top two automatic promotion places.
Perhaps with one eye on Monday's FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton boss Chris Powell made four changes to his starting line-up with Dorian Dervite, Danny Green, Simon Church and Rhys Wiggins all returning.
Harry Redknapp had to make do without the suspended Joey Barton, so Tom Carroll started in midfield, while Ravel Morrison made his debut after signing on loan from West Ham.
Although QPR played the more intricate and neat football in the early stages, it was Charlton who could have gone ahead after 12 minutes.
Jordan Cousins hit a cracking drive from almost 30 yards, which hit Rob Green's left upright. Reza Ghoochannejhad snatched at the follow-up, which came back off Green's left post with the keeper stranded.
Had Danny Green made a better choice, the Addicks may have had another opportunity but he played a reverse pass when Cousins was far better placed.
Kevin Doyle had a shot blocked by Dorian Dervite and the ball would not fall kindly for him in another R's attack.
Nedum Onuoha went over in the box under a Michael Morrison challenge, but failed to win a penalty.
At the other end, Iran international Ghoochannejhad directed a header from a Wiggins cross straight to Green.
Redknapp tried to shake things up by replacing the ineffective Junior Hoilett with on-loan Manchester United youngster Will Keane.
Moments later Rangers squandered by far their best opening when an unmarked Morrison lashed a 14-yard shot well wide.
Powell responded with a double substitution as Marcus Tudgay made his Charlton debut the day after signing on loan from Nottingham Forest.
The visitors passed up another amazing chance when substitute Modibo Maiga was gifted the ball by the Yohann Thuram-Ulien. After going around the despairing Charlton goalkeeper, the Rangers substitute lost control and the ball went out of play.
And they were made to pay in stoppage time, when Jackson's last-gasp intervention sealed the points for the hosts.

Again listening to commentary, we have no sharp edge nor incisiveness to our play. Most goals scored after 80 minutes in football and I was expecting one. Ravel had an open shot, Green made brilliant save in IT, Bradley Allen said a draw would be a fair result and then it happenned. We are sliding down. You cant win games without being able to finish and score goals.

Do something about it then Harry, work on it in training, do extra training if necessary, ask the coaches of the u21's and u18's what they do, 'coz they can manage to create enough opportunities.

I wonder, would our wonderful PR/BS crew actually ask Harry how he intends to rectify this lack of creating opportunities? Or do they only do the spinning positive BS and crap?

Leadership, passion, drive, tactics come from above. We keep changing team structure. Borrowing players. We did that last two Seasons. What was worse four seasons ago, when we kept changing managers. We soreley miss Charlie A.

West London Sport West London Sport - Sports news in west london QPRBond bemoans QPR’s defensive lapse Kevin Bond, QPR assistant manager 22/02/2014 By David McIntyre Kevin Bond admitted QPR paid the price for a shoddy defensive lapse in their 1-0 defeat at Charlton. Johnnie Jackson pounced at the far post to score in injury time and condemn the visitors to a third consecutive loss. Rangers assistant boss Bond said: “We’ve found goals hard to come by this season. In the early part of the season we dominated in terms of possession, without the end product. “Today I thought we got back to that and at least passed the ball against a team that are fighting for their lives. We were aware it was going to be a difficult game. “The difference is that before we weren’t shipping goals. Today the worst came to the worst. We fell asleep for half a split-second and it’s cost us the game. “We need to get back to being difficult to beat and if that means winning by the odd goal, that’s what we’ve got to do.” Rangers expect Niko Kranjcar, who missed the match with a hamstring problem, to be fit for next Saturday’s game against Leeds. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-fell-asleep-admits-bond-wls-football

Charlton Official Site Powell: Captain led from the front Posted: Sat 22 Feb 2014 Author: Olly Groome Johnnie Jackson and Chris Powell Johnnie Jackson and Chris Powell Image by: PA Chris Powell praised Johnnie Jackson after his captain scored the winning goal to earn Charlton a last-gasp winner against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday Olly Groome reports Chris Powell praised Johnnie Jackson after his captain scored the winning goal to earn Charlton all three points against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. Jackson netted his fourth goal of the season when he rose at the back post to node home Astrit Ajdarević's corner in injury time. And Powell hailed the leadership qualities of the midfielder as he dragged his side to victory. “He led from the front,” said the Valley chief. “People always look at the manager and the captain to lead the team and he does it in a different way. He does it with a lot of unseen work and moments of quality and normally with John that's with his goals. “He put in such a terrific shift, the fans want that and the fans can see that.” “It's a terrific day for this football club,” he added. "It's a great day for my players, they were immense today. It was a terrific performance. They got their just reward.” Powell went on to praise his young players as well as the defence which prevented QPR from achieving a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes. He explained: “The young players, Diego [Poyet] and Jordan Cousins performed, but I shouldn't single just them out because I thought Michael Morrison, Dorian Dervite, Lawrie Wilson, they all put a shift in and we're going to have to do that. We can't have anything less.” The Addicks boss also reserved a word for the supporters and emphasised their importance in getting behind the team. “The crowd were terrific. It was loud and we gave them that, we played off each other. “It was an important display and maybe some things went in our favour that have gone against us this year. We hit the post twice but we stuck at it and we were terrific in both boxes. “We defended really well and there's no better time to score a goal than in injury time.” Despite the impressive victory over the high-flying west-Londoners, Powell insists that attention will now immediately turn to the next seven days, with two big games against Sheffield Wednesday in the cup, and a league clash at Leicester City coming up. “We're going to just be focused on the next game. I know how quickly things can change. “We've got to feed off this for Monday and I'm sure, all of a sudden, when you win there's not so many tired bodies. “It's a pivotal week for us and we've started off in the right way.” Read more at www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20140222-powell-captain-led-from-the-front-1376360.aspx#rQk82w3uopoEI3LD.99www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20140222-powell-captain-led-from-the-front-1376360.aspx

QPR OFFICIAL SITE PUBLISHED 18:00 22nd February 2014 by @officialqpr Redknapp’s verdict after late derby drama … HARRY Redknapp was left ruing his side’s inability to create clear-cut chances once more after QPR lost to a last-gasp strike at Charlton Athletic. Michael Morrison headed home deep into second-half stoppage time to hand the Addicks victory. Speaking to www.qpr.co.uk at the final whistle, the R’s boss told us: “We dominated the game possession wise and didn’t look in any trouble. “But we lacked that final ball. We kept the ball and played all the football, but didn’t get enough shots in on goal. “We don’t create enough opportunities for the amount of play we have – and that was the story again today. “We had a great chance to go in front with two or three minutes to go through Ravel Morrison, but he saw the ball too late. “However, I thought Ravel was excellent today on an almost-impossible pitch. He was head and shoulders above anyone on the field, even though he unfortunately couldn’t take that chance. “Then Charlton went down the other end and scored from a set-piece in the last second.” He added: “It’s a damaging result – we’re getting damaged quite a bit lately. “It’s been a difficult few weeks, I’ve lost some key players. Players with pace and power like Matty Phillips and Charlie Austin. “We’re short of goals at the moment. But in the worst case, we should have come away with a point today. So to concede in the last minute was disappointing.” Read more at www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/220214-harry-final-ball-lacking-again-1375970.aspx#uCX5kPrS78KI0vla.99

No excuses with the players at Harry's disposal.
If they believed the hype about them 'walking' this league they better wake up quick and realise that isn't going to happen anymore. There's still plenty of points to play for but the gap between us and Burnley in 2nd place is getting bigger now and hard to see Burnley slipping up.
Never do things the easy way. Even when we got promoted last time we had to wait till last game of the season to confirm we weren't going to get points deducted!

We are seeking our level. We were never a Prem team. tho we lasted two seasons. Leeds were Prem, Man C were Ist div and slipped
to div 2or 3. New stadium, billions, now tops. Charlton were prem now can beat us. On their way up? No, we are on way down. Paladini and Pals
hoisted us, despite almost going down. Wolves now in 1st div. Soton were 26 yrs straight in Ist then dropped, now back up but wont be easy.
Coventry City 33 yrs in Ist div. Look now.
Goals. For me stay in championship. Will keep me happy.

At this point there will be no more comments on this situation from this corner. Can we beat Leeds? Fans staying behind players and players cheering fans after match would be a help . Win lose or draw.
