QPR Official SiteALEC STOCK DAY
PUBLISHED09:05 8th January 2014 by @officialqpr Club to pay tribute to former manager later this season … THE life and times of our greatest ever manager will be celebrated when Loftus Road plays host to ‘Alec Stock Day’ in mid-March. Stock, who – amongst other notable milestones – guided the R’s to our famous League Cup Final win in 1967, passed away in 2001, at the age of 84. He managed the R's on 459 occasions, winning 220 matches. He enjoyed a win ratio of 47.9 per-cent. When the Hoops take on Yeovil Town – another of Stock’s ex-clubs – at Loftus Road on March 15th, his family, former players and fans alike will be able to pay tribute to the legendary boss on a day to remember in W12. Amongst other planned activities, former R’s players who played under Stock will take part in a series of pre-match Q&A and signing sessions, whilst the club’s matchday programme ‘Hoops’ will also pay a glowing tribute to the man who touched so many hearts during his time in charge of Rangers. Stock’s daughter Sarah told http://www.qpr.co.uk: “Dad would have loved this. “He had such a great affiliation with both QPR and Yeovil so this is a fitting fixture for such a day to be held. “The family are really excited about returning to Loftus Road to join the fans in paying tribute to him and celebrating his life.” Further details will be revealed in due course on www.qpr.co.uk www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/080114-alec-stock-day-1279795.aspx#mJ2QKQ84I0U1bRtY.99

Would you think that prominent club officials and staff from Alec's time should be included?

Absolutely - If health permits - Ron Phillips of course. But invites should go out to and then "worry" re health later
So Clive Clark I believe was not well, but definitely should go.

Absolutely. But I'm assuming the 1966/67 & 1975/76 WILL be thought of... But too many of the others will be overlooked... So if people name, people still around, who played relatively-significant (or not so) roles at QPR 1959-1968

John Smith who was club secretary 61-66 before Ron Philips took up the position. Smith was at Leyton Orient as a Junior player when Stock was there manager. Smith is still in touch with the Stock family.

Its a bit before my time the Stock era, as you can see by my user name i was born in 1972, but i'm thinking it would be easier if the bman is up for it, to send the details of all the players and staff who made a significant contribution to the club under Stock then invite them all and see how many turn up. sounds like it will be a cracking day nice one all involved in getting this off the ground.

The club have told me they are inviting players from the 67/8 season-and I've also made a couple of other suggestions. All of the family are delighted and are really looking forward to coming back to Loftus Road. Will be an emotional day! (Sarah-Alec's daughter)

Hope you and your family have a really good day Sarah, overdue and more than deserved. maybe when you meet mr Beard you can suggest that one of the stands at the new stadium or the new training ground be named after your father.

Thank you stocky for your post.
Surely, all players who played for the first team & management, secretarial staff in Alec's time should be invited. This is, of course, provided they are still living.
Obviously, if all wished to go the numbers would be far too many, but looking at other reunions the number able to attend may not be too high.
Anyway, I'm so pleased that the club are holding this event & I hop that Sarah & all the family have a great day. I know that I will.

PUBLISHED 11:00 5th February 2014 by @officialqpr Club to pay tribute to former gaffer on March 15th ... R'S STARS of yesteryear will be back at Loftus Road next month, as the club pays tribute to arguably our greatest ever manager. Alec Stock, who – amongst other notable milestones – guided the R’s to our famous League Cup Final win in 1967, passed away in 2001, at the age of 84. He managed the R's on 459 occasions, winning 220 matches, enjoying a win ratio of 47.9 per-cent. Former R's heroes Roger and Ian Morgan, Frank Sibley, Mark Lazarus and Tony Hazell have already confirmed their attendance at the fixture, whilst Rodney Marsh is hopeful of coming over the pond from Tampa to pay tribute to the 'best manager' he played for during his illustrious career. Former club secretary John Smith is also confirmed. Amongst other planned activities, the former R’s players will take part in a series of pre-match Q&A and signing sessions, whilst the club’s matchday programme ‘Hoops’ will also pay a glowing tribute to the man who touched so many hearts during his time in charge of Rangers. Obviously shouldn't focus on it, but I hope they don't totally sugarcoat how Stock left QPR. That too is QPR history (albeit shameful part)

This is a brilliant, imaginative idea- and helps to redeem the club a little for its shameful treatment of the great man. As it happens, I am going to the Yeovil game with two non-QPR friends (an Arsenal season ticket holder and an Ipswich fan) and I am glad they are going to see the club at its best. Incidentally, I noticed at the recent away game that Ipswich have stands named after Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsay, and I still think we should request that one of the stands in our new stadium should be named after Alec Stock.

Bushman, you`re a star. It was suddenly remembering that promise that brought me on here searching for Alec Stock earlier. Well done, Sir!
