I'd forgotten how short we were as a squad in that first season back at this level. The listed subs left a lot to be desired!
Was it Keown that was sent off to launch our come back? It was rather special when Furs scored the winner.

It was rather special when Furs scored the winner. David Connelly was the player sent off. Keown received a yellow. Furlong roughed Keown up that day.

Our first ever game in Division One August 10, 1968, QPR played their first-ever game in the old Division One (and today would be the Premiership). At a Loftus Road, where the new South African Road Stand was not complete, newly-promoted QPR took on Leicester City who had the English record-signing, Alan Clarke (150,000 pound signing from Fulham) making his debut. QPR -as often was the case - were the better team, but could only draw 1-1 with Les Allen coming on as sub to equalize. (Rodney Marsh was injured with a pre-season broken foot injury). QPR's team for its opening game vs Leicester Ron Springet Finch Watson Hazell Harris Morgan Keen Sibley Morgan Leach Wilks - Sub Les Allen Bump: Past Videos of some QPR-Leicester Games qprreport.proboards.com/thread/37935/past-qpr-leicester-games-videos1974 FA Cup QF - Joe Waters Ruined it 1982 Win at Leicester And of course... Bump - Martyn Busby making his debut as a 16 year old (replacing Venables I think) in our final game of the disappointing-in-the-end (but very exciting) season in 1969/70...(Lost 2-1)

Strange watching the 1968 game seems like yesterday and the ground with the small Ellersie Rd stand ....... Happy Days even during that season and not a building block in sight apart from SA Rd building site !!
