Very remiss of me but I've only just realised that I havn't seen a post from Gramps in a while. Added to that, Rory is very quiet these days as well.
Have I missed reading of their leaving us or has Gramps wife taken a turn for the worse etc?
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks Maude.
Perhaps there will be other replies later on.
Rory, you need to get your priorities right! Queens park Rangers are for life, a girlfriend may turn into a wife/partner. Are you sure you want that?

I don't know re Rory...
I did pm Gramps 2-3 weeks ago to make sure he was ok - not to try and make him post.
I heard back from him from him then.
So hopefully he'll be posting soon.

Have no fear. We are fine(ish). Full explanation to follow but a bit pushed at present. Have visited the site and kept up to date every day so you have not lost me. With the hurricane due tonight I am currently more concerned with my next door neighbour's very(!) tall but somewhat fragile tree. If it comes down it is just in the right position to destroy my house!

Good luck with holding that tree up!

So, all is generally OK apart from the fact that we have been back and forth to hospitals. Getting tired of seeing doctors but that is one of the penalties of old age. Maureen is to have a tricky eye operation in early January and I am having something similar at a time to be decided. I just had an endoscopy do check if there is any sign of Cancer in my dodgy digestive system but have to wait another three weeks for the results. Thank God for the National Health Service. Never took much from them in my working life but now making up for it! To cap it all, my GP has warned me that my back problems could lead to me being in a wheel chair, which prospect I don't relish.
Have been very busy with my music making activities. My male voice choir is improving by leaps and bounds and we have just come back from a short tour in Derby with a full programme of shows and an invitation to do three concerts in Germany (Cologne)late next year. Fun, fun, fun.
Life has also been hectic in my church activities and I am kept very busy with my duties there. We have also been on a cruise to Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal, France. Doing all these things while we are able. I did think that my retirement would be a really lazy one - but it hasn't happened.
Finally, I am having a running battle with the insurance company following our burglary. Apart from the repairs to our patio doors, they haven't come up with a penny piece yet. I could tell you some hair raising stories about how they are treating our case but that is not the purpose of this board, which is of course........ football in general and QPR in particular.
As I said, I have kept in touch with all that has been going on and has been said. To be honest, I am not overly impressed with the Rs record so far. Yes, of course it is good that we are up at the top end of the division but when I look at where we have got the points and what is yet to come, I am still a bit worried. It is easy to look slick and efficient when the opposition is not wonderful but yesterday at Burnley was, I feel, a case of coming back to earth with a bump. Johnson might make a difference when he comes back for about two games before injury but, in spite of the goals Charlie Austin has scored, the latter has not impressed me particularly; not the force I thought he would be. Then again, what can we expect of the man when he is stuck up front on his own. I still believe we will end up about mid-table but the next few games will give a better indication.
Football now doesn't give me even half the buzz it did in my youth. Too much money, too many prima donnas, too many foreign players. For me it is no longer a sport - more a business. I may well be shot down by some of our younger members who have not seen the game as it was played 50-60 years ago but for me those truly were the really great days, not only for our club but football in general.
Enough said. I hope you managed to wade through all that lot but I do have to make up for lost time, don't I? Oh, and a final P.S. I have recently learnt that we have another two great-grandchildren on the way to add to the seven we have already! More expense.

Not hired the white tux, Andrew. I have had it for years but the only time it comes out of mothballs is when we go on a cruise so, any excuse!
Thanks, Rory for the offer. Life is so busy for me at present that I don't think I shall be going to many - if any - games this season. IF (and it's a very big 'if') we are promoted again I have a very real fear that it could well be a repeat of last season and not sure my heart could take that. I shall be delighted if proved wrong, however.
Thanks Sharky. I think I can accept 'regal' although at times I don't feel regal. I'm not going to tell 'er indoors about what you said. She would probably pee herself laughing!

Cruise? Around the Greek Islands was it? Kick off in Venice? Good to see you both back. Is "Stuff" your girlfriends name?
Don't worry, I just got back last night from the Yellow Fever on tour to Napier trip. We had a young fella - Patrick on the bus with his girlfriend in the row in seat in front of me. After an hour I gave up and started sing the Love Boat theme but changed it to Love Bus.
Was an excellent three days away, not drunk that much for many years. Woodstock & colas (7%)on the way up & back and lager & lime whilst up there. Oddly enough stayed at a fellow QPR fan's place which was good. Met yet another QPR fan at the game too.
