Ernest "Ernie" Shepherd

Born: Wombwell, Yorkshire: 14-08-1919
Ernie signed for the club. July,1950 from Hull.
In all competitions for QPR. Apps:230. Goals:54.
He made his debut in the No.11 shirt against Chesterfield in a drawn 1-1 (home) August 19,1950.
On 30th September 1950 he scored a hat-trick in the 7-1 defeat of Grimsby.
His last appearance at Loftus Rd was against Millwall, 7 April 1956, scoring the first goal in a 4-0 win for Rangers
In June 1956 Ernie Shepherd left Rangers to become Player/Manager of Hastings Utd.
He was manager of Southend Utd from 1967-69 and commented on the return of Rodney Marsh from injury in the Southend Utd Res v QPR Res programme 8th Nov 1967.

In 2001 Ernest Shepherd died at the age of eighty-one, in Leigh-on- Sea, Essex.
