02/09/2013 By David McIntyre QPR boss Harry Redknapp says it is inconceivable that Julio Cesar will not be snapped up before the transfer window closes tonight. The Brazil goalkeeper, 33, expected to leave Rangers this summer and is keen to join Arsenal, who have consistently been linked with him despite not making an approach. Supposed interest from a number of European clubs has come to nothing and Redknapp admits he is stunned that Cesar has not secured a move. Rangers are keen to do a deal with any interested club and are hopeful an offer will come in before the deadline. “If he doesn’t go he has to stay, but I can’t believe there isn’t a big club out there that will take him,” said Redknapp. “He’s the Brazilian number one goalkeeper. He played in the Confederations Cup just the other week when they played Spain in the final. “There are clubs out there, surely, who must want a great goalkeeper. You’d think someone must come along and want to take him.” West Brom, who are looking for a short-term replacement for the injured Ben Foster, expressed some interest in Cesar this morning. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/surely-cesar-will-leave-today-redknapp

West Brom have made an inquiry for QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar with a view to taking the Brazil international on a short-term loan deal.
"At this stage, talks between the clubs are at an early stage and any deal is likely to be complicated by Cesar's departure for Brazil on international duty."

Looks like we have the goalkeeping version of Winston Bogarde, it seems.

Staying, supposedly, will he get a game though? See no reason to drop green. He'll still play for brazil...they have noone else

This is the downer on the day, is it still possible to loan him abroad or sell to Russia or something?

Who is his agent? A current Brazil International and who last year played well in a team with no defence and going down A shame for both parties that he was not signed today

Weird. I wonder what's the biggest obstacle here: wages? If it's wages, doesn't he want to make a small discount just to make sure he plays in the WC? I mean, he could go to a decent Brazilian side and wait for the cup in the sun there.
Or maybe the clubs are not that sure about him - he played for struggling QPR half of the games and then had a decent friendly tournament. But it was ... friendly. Has he still got the edge for the big game? Who knows.

Is he good enough for QPR? I'm sure.
But we already destroyed Green once...He's doing the job...
I presume Cesar will go somewhere on loan.
Would think he would put playing for Brazil in the World Cup Finals as a priority

Whatever happens I'm pretty sure Green is the #1. But as you say, as long as there's a loan possibility, there's 99.9% chance Julio will move eventually.

I don't see how we could loan him before January. Unless it is to a championship club or perhaps Dagenham!

thanks Jon.
I wasn't aware of that. I assume that applies to all the South American countries & not just Brazil?
Maybe Estudiantes would like to take him instead of suing us!

whats to worry--two class keepers-we're spoilt--be happy Exactly how I feel. It might be a slightly ridiculous situation that we have got ourselves into but it's hardly a bad one.

Time now for Cesar to give Green a reminder and thus bring both keepers up to top form and give HR a headache that he'd rather have.

Of course it's a bad one, he needs to go. I think the goalie situation sums up the clusterfck that was last season, made a total expensive mess on not improving the position IMO.
