Sorry to have started another thread, but I wanted to ask some questions of supporters that actually were at the game last night.
If I had posted on the main thread the chances are that most of the board are now avoiding it so would not be in a position to reply.
Plaese could somebody let me know what our formation was last night? As we only had one player that can play in a wide position, did we play four in midfield with either Jennas or Faurlin playing wide out of position? Did we play three up front with SWP wide & a central forward duo? Did Austin & Zamora look as if they can play together because they havn't looked like it previously?
Any constructive comments from those that attended would be appreciated.
I wasn't there so I have no idea, but maybe it was the formation & not the personnel that was the problem.

I wasn't there but apparently it was 4-4-2 and Diakite was playing on the right.

I wasn't there but apparently it was 4-4-2 and Diakite was playing on the right. I went last night. Rory is quite right. Austin and Zamora can play together but just aren't getting any service up front. Austin made good forward runs all night, Zamora controlled the ball and fed the midfield, expecting the thru ball in return to either him or Austin but never got it back. Diakite consistently ran into trouble and lost the ball. SWP did the same and was dire last night. Faurlin couldn't find himself with a pass and Jenas was poor going forwards and poor defending the middle of the park as well. The game was crying out for someone to dominate the middle of the park and show some creativity going forwards but no one could do it. All in all a typical Rangers home cup tie. I'm not sure Hill is a decent captain. He should of taken the team by the scruff of it's neck and shouted at them rather than only shout at himself whenever he made a mistake. With Phillips and Hoilett in the team we should get the ball to Zamora, Austin and AJ a lot more and when we do the goals will come, but we need a squad leader at the moment as we're showing signs of being a team, just without any direction. We lack creativity going forwards as well as cohesion. Unfortunately we missed both Barton and Henry last night. I'm worried we're two injuries away from serious trouble if they both pick up knocks. The Derry loan did not look to clever last night that's for sure as Jenas and Faurlin are just not good enough on present form. Still, it's Rangers, it's the cup. What else did we expect was going to happen!

Beat me to it Mark. Only thing I would add, Sharif.

Beat me to it Mark. Only thing I would add, Sharif. I felt sorry for him last night to be honest! Ended up drifting in, in search of a pass and got lost in the game. He's got plenty more in his locker though and he scores goals as well. Looked confident when he had the ball and I hope he stays around the first team rather than go out on loan as he's ready.

That pass to play SWP through on goal (which of course he messed up) was fantastic. Really rate this kid.

Thanks Mark.
It didn't occur to me that Diatake would be given a wide role!
Interesting your take on Austin & Zamora playing together. Against Ipswich I thought they looked as though they were in each others way & expected to be the target for the high balls, rather than trying to find space. It may be that it is juat a case of becoming acustomed with each other.
