How good to see a side win the FA Cup that really cared about it! Deserved winners & seeing the sheer joy, pleasure & pride on all of their faces made this the best final I have seen for a long time. In '78 I was at Wembley with my wife to see Ipswich beat Arsenal. What that day meant to the whole town & surrounding areas was incredible & I'm sure that is how the whole of the Wigan area will be feeling this evening. Forget that they can't travel home by train tonight. Those that were/are at Wembley won't care. As long as their back home for the parade through the town, that will do. Today was good for all of English football!

Didnt watch but anytime (ALMOST) any time a smaller club wins at Wembley, that's the best

Have just remembered that I know & played alongside an ex Wigan player in their forth division days - Lee Hunter, son of Alan.
So another connection between Ipswich 78 & Wigan 13!
Not quite the same, mainly because we lost, but in the same class as how much it means to a town, Chesham United took ten thousand more than the town's population to wembley in '68 for the FA Amateur Cup final. The attendance at the Bush for home to Huddersfield suffered greatly!

Yes, Alan joined Ipswich from Blackburn. Smoked about 40 a day (same as Kevin) & I think he was the player who Alan MaC admired most & copied his style.
They were both very proud of coming from the north of that island.
Lee was the best player I played with & his cousin, Paul, played for Rushden when they were in the legue.

They played really well. City just couldn't break them nor their spirit. Certainly didn't look like a relegated team on that performance. One of the better finals in the last 40 years I've been watching them.

If I didn't support the Mighty Hoops, I would be a Wigan supporter after today's performance and engagement!

If Wigan are going to stay up we have to do them a favour tomorrow and beat Newcastle and West Brom have got to help them out as well and beat Norwich.
Still hard to see Wigan getting much at the Emirates from an Arsenal team that need the points to stay in the CL places for next season.
I think Newcastle and Norwich will get enough points to send Wigan down.

Congrats to Wigan. Well played. Man City were a load of rubbish. One hit wonders. Only won the league last year cos our players got wind that we were safe from relegation. They never would have scored that third goal.

Ben Watson scores the winner. Remember we had him on loan from Crystal Palace, London Born, in 2009, but didn,t sign him as presumably he didn,t meet our high standards. We certainly now how to pick them.

Man city reminded me of us on saturday, just turned up, didn't really care or want it...wigan REALLY wanted it, I hope they don't go down now purely cus they'll win the championship with ease with players who actually give a sh1t.

Me to. This is the only bit of interest left for me this season on the playing side. Would love to see Wigan beat Arsenal tomorrow and put the sh*ts up Sunderland and Villa.
