Not trying to do another "disgusted"/"first to leave" thread here, something different - not about anger. Which player were you lot most disappointed with - I doubt many of us had high hopes for the likes of Bosingwa and Park, but who were you most excited about signing and failed to live up to your expectations? Who were the players you wanted to see push on but didn't play like you hoped?
For me, there's three: Hoilett, Mackie and Taarabt.
Junior Hoilett was a ray of light to me in the transfer window. Young, very promising at Blackburn and just the kind of signing I felt we should have been making. I was expecting lots of cutting in from the wing, 20 yard goals and ruining the days of full backs. Showed promise at the start with some nice strength and footwork but was was fundamentally underwhelming. Maybe after Blackburn he just didn't have the heart for another relegation scrap?
I love Jamie Mackie - he tries so hard and gives everything. I know he isn't really premier league standard but I expected a bit more magic from him - moments like the Liverpool game last season. Unfortunately, whilst he got given a lot of slack last year and maybe over-achieved, this season he just simply did not look good enough. Hoped he'd have pushed on. Useful for next season though.
Really thought Taarabt was going to put his mark on QPR in the prem this season. He keeps threatening to. We keep hearing (and sometimes seeing) about how he's supposed to have taken the negatives out of his game but they still persist. Great skill but head still goes down too quickly. Some poor decision making and a very lean spell in front of goal. Difficult for next season as he'd be a real asset but you've got to wonder if he's up for the championship again without a Warnock to coddle him. But then, I don't know what top flight side in Europe would take a punt on him.
What do you lot reckon? Over to you..

Hoilett.
I championed his signing as he looked great at Blackburn but has been useless for us.
Massively underperformed this season and owes us a proper shift next season.

Junior Hoillett: Should never have signed him after he got on the plane to go to Germany to see what they had to say.
Jamie Mackie: Great attitude and we need him and more like him next season. That goal v Derby still makes my hair stand up.
Adel Tarrabt: Just as we only signed him because no one else wanted him, we are now stuck with him because he was so crap in the PL no one will want him. The only hope is we need to cut our wage bill and he goes to France or the Middle East for a £3-5M fee.
I was looking forward to Diakite playing this season, but he was a f***ing head case and didn't.

Granero for me. Looked world class in his first couple of games, then died a slow death.

Either Granero or Hoilett for me.
Oh and Paulmason, I don't think calling someone who had a small mental problem a 'f***ing head case' is the best of comments to be making...

Dorset's mention of granero is good. I agree, looked great early on then disappeared.
But Hoillet was most disappointing. The most frustrating part was when he'd be in close he would freeze up and take a few extra seconds before trying to get a shot off, defenders easily dispossessed him...then that behavior started showing up in different areas of the pitch...then the injuries.
Just a complete waste of a season. I'd like to see him stay as i think he can still figure it out...

Like Mark, I was greatly in favour of signing Hoilet & even sugested that he was a good bet for the England side!
Therefore he must be top of my list, followed by Bosingwa, Ferdinand & Park. I can't include Green, Samba or Johnson as my expectations were not very high.
The same applies to Hill, Derry & Mackie as I thought that reached their peak for us the previos season.
Another major disappointment was that for one & a half matches the partnership of Faurlin & Granero looked superb, only for it to be ditched after one more game.
On the other hand Nelsen, Mbia & Remy have lived up to my hopes.

I initially had high expectations for Park - and then I realised that Fergie would never have got rid of him if he was still a useful player (let's face it he wasn't a disruptive person at OT, which would have been the only othe reason why he would have gone). So although he didn't live up to the hype he produced exactly what I expected.
I had high hopes for Bosingwa - so he has to be top of my list.
Granero was another flop who has disappointed me.

I forgot about Cisse - and I think there is a case for him to be top of my list. Stupid red cards & lengthy suspensions aside he impressed me last season - and then follows it up with a don't give a toss attitude this season.
Yip he has to be no 1 on my list.

Hoilett for me too, i really thought we had got ourselves a gem. As for Cisse, if he had been given the right service he would have scored goals, lots of them.

Granero for me. I was so excited when I saw him play for the R's first. I thought we had a world class player on our hands, and I am still not quite sure what happened. I don't know if he went off the boil or picked up the bad vibes around the dressing room, or just wasn't as good as he looked at the start.

Hoilett for me as well.
Like others here I had real high hopes for him and he and Park were the only signings I can recall me really being excited about in preseason.
I was never a fan of Bosingwa and knew from playing FPL that he can't defend so that didn't surprise me.
Hoilett and SWP are the two signings we made that I genuinely expected quality returns from.
Its a bit like the NFL draft. Sometimes you draft a guy in the top of the 1st round and think you're getting a stud and he turns out to be a dud. Then you pick a guy as an afterthought in the 6th round and he goes on to become Tom Brady.

PARK - thought his arrival was a real sign of intention (albeit also a commercially driven one) but his performances have been really disappointing.
ADEL - always been a favourite of mine and I would normally choose to start with him but then not be afraid of dragging him off on a non-going day. However, he now needs to have a complete rethink about his attitude and his contribution as part of a team. Could be flat track bully and therefore useful to have around next season if 'Arry can motivate him in the right direction.
DIAKITE & FAURLIN - seriously thought this central midfield combination was going to help provide us with a top half finish !! Whatever the underlying reasons are for Diakite's lack of game time, this and Ale's failure to impress the Manager are probably my biggest disappointments. Faurlin & Granero are too similar and should not be paired together. I hope Redknapp has a rethink about Faurlin for next season particularly with Granero almost certain to head out the door this summer. As much as I admire Mbia's enthusiasm I think Diakite is a better footballer and his rashness could be coached out of him, making him a better option. So you never know the Faurlin/Diakite combo could belatedly produce the goods and inspire another memorable Championship season ??

I've got so many I don't know where to start!!!
Grenero=just wanted to much time to pick out his passed and got easily tackled. My boys tell me he's great on Fifa.
Hoilett=Was looking forward to young quick winger and ended up with Billy bunter in a Hooped shirt.(never wear horizontal stripes when your a bit lardy)
Ji Sung park=runs round all over the place and gets nowhere.(fergie proved right again)
Mbia=for such a big old unit always throwing himself on the floor.
Andy Johnson=For getting injured so early in the season. Think he could have scored goals for us.
Adel =For being over weight and still not putting it in,in every game even though he was where he felt he should have been ie the premiership.

I still nurture this naive hope that Johnson is somehow going to become un-crocked and spend his last season in football banging goals in in the Championship.

Lots of players have disappointed me this year, Park, Granero, Hoilett, (not going to mention Bosingwa as he's off the scale) all have been poor and failed to reach the bar. But the player who has won the failure prize for me this season is also my favourite QPR player, Adel Tarrabt. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I don't think he will be with us for too long next season. Sadly, he needs to go, both for the club and his own career. i hope I am wrong
