Veteran midfielder Derry believes Barton's presence could have lifted the struggling Hoops. He told The Sun: "There have been times this season where the guys haven't given 100 per cent. So he'd have improved the squad." www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8600923/?

How QPR have handled him has been strange Yes...I think we should have fired him straight away after the City game. You simply don't behave like that. Now we've made some sort of weird compromise, having him play with the youth set up and then loan him out. But I also think Derry has a point, I do think we underestimate the influence and importance of him last year. Prick or no prick.

I could have lived with firing him...or I could have lived with punishing him and then giving him last chance.
What we did do was punish him...And then humiliated him...And then sort of did a u turn and sent him out

I agree with you Mac. What we did was not much different to an event in past history. We joined in the baying crowd who wanted him crucified and banished. This time of the year is something we should think about.
