Come on guys, positive thinking!!! If somebody had said we would have had a chance of staying up after the Liverpool game of late december I would have thought he was mad but now were only 4 points adrift and do have a chance if slim.to answer the question.I think it can only be better next season if we stay up,surely even the biggest of fools would learn from the mistakes of the past 2 seasons. KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!!!!!!!

This is exactly what people have been moaning about in the other threads.
The title clearly says "If we stay up. Will next season be any better?". So let's discuss that topic. If you don't want to discuss it, that's totally cool, don't.
If people are 100% sure we are getting relegated, wonderful. I already know people like gramps' opinion on that because it is reiterated all over the place. I don't need that opinion shouted at me when I'm trying to read or engage with a topic where it is not relevant. I'm fairly sure we'll be relegated too, but I somehow manage to hold that in because I don't feel that people are desperate to know my opinion on that when a thread isn't asking that. Can only speak for myself, but I think this is exactly the reason people are getting pissed off with reading the messageboards. It is genuinely like going onto a thread that says "let's discuss your favourite pizza" and posting "YEAH WELL I DON'T EVEN LIKE PIZZA". Great. I've learnt nothing.
So instead of discussing what happens "if we stay up", we're now talking about whether we'll get relegated. Or in other words - wrong thread.
Anyway, as for the question at hand. I think it has the potential to be better, but only if the club sits down and is honest about admitting that mistakes have been made. A crucial thing for me is that if we end up surviving this season, it has to be acknowledge that we did so in spite of our transfer policy and general club set up rather than because of it. It will be really tempting to see survival as a vindication of how the club's been run - what I hope is that we see survival as a warning of how perilous our situation has become, we survived by the skin of our teeth and need a re-think and fresh start for next season.
Whole load of money coming in if we stay up - let's hope we invest it sensibly and with long-term survival in mind, not just expensively scrabbling together players to get us out of the bottom three (again, a big IF).

If and hopefully when we stay up undoubtedly Harry will be seen as a miracle worker. He can shake up the squad and bring in quality players of his choice. Who would surely believe we can achieve something.

If we stay up I think it will be better next season becuse at least Harry understands how to run a smaller club like ours. Hughes acted like we were going to be the next Real Madrid, remember all the talk about ambition?
It's ok to be amitious but we also need to be realistic. And the transfer policy needs to change, it's all very well buying new players but go for ones that slot into the team, and buy from smaller clubs so that we get players on their way up.

Bow - ahhh the negativity - 4 points off relegation and some are SO SURE we are down.. heck we may well will be, but thankfully the majority of us, keep the faith and hope otherwise, regardless of what we feel in our gut. We refrain from dampening the finalé to feel that each game is winnable, otherwise i would'nt watch them. Its QPR we are talking about here..!! "Knowing the end to anything, stops you from taking the journey to get there.." In response to the post:- i hope so, it cant be any worse than this season, i mean we broke records and everything, all for the wrong reasons..

Yes, but we will not stay up. Anyway next season in the Championship will also be better than this season, IF the finances are not totally F***ed up.

If we stay up, and obviously that is a big if, I think the team will be in better shape next season. If Redknapp was here at the beginning of the season, playing at the same level since his arrival this team would be around 30 points. He will have the whole summer to straighten the squad up and decide their role before the season begins. He has a much better eye for talent and actually brings players in with a plan and uses them for their correct roles, not just bringing in random players from big clubs like Hughes. So I can't imagine the team struggling like this season and probably being a mid-table team.

I think the only thing that will make next season better than this one hinges on creating a united dressing room.
Regardless of what division we're in, watching a dysfunctional and under performing side all season again will be just as depressing as this one.
Only it will cost a hell of a lot more in the Premiership!
If Remy can stay fit we've got a fighting chance, but come what may unless Redknap can sort out the dressing room rifts and create a team willing to fight for each other, then expect more dross.
Two weeks ago I'd of said staying up was impossible but now I believe it's certainly possible. Just fu(king unlikely!

We have a fighting chance of staying up, the run is against some of the teams around us/just above us, the next four or five games are key, and if we win those then we will have momentum and confidence.
Next season being better than this one, well that depends. Have the owners learned from their continued mistakes? Is Philip Beard really the right man for the job? Will the manager be allowed to manage the team without influence on which players should be signed and who should be made captain? And will they refrain from signing dozens of new players if we stay up? Will the owners seek to get closer to the fans and engage in open and fair dialogue with them/us? These and perhaps other pertinent questions need addressing. If the owners can do this then next season will be better, we will all be better off in terms of the the way the club is run.

I think the potential is there regardless of what division we are in, for there to be a marked improvement. Perhaps the players are starting to understand the fan base. We want passion, pride and prestege at the Hoops. It's not all about the money.

It's like you read my mind. These were my thoughts when I asked the question. Will we learn. Or will the board believe they've got it sussed after surviving twice. Will there be again more OTT spending and another squad of players coming in. Someone needs to take a step back and truly assess our situation and make careful measured decisions on the players, we have, we want to keep and who we want to get. Think about putting together an actual team of players not just a gathering of named individuals. Focus on building a great side rather than a global brand. These need to happen whether we're in the Premier or Championship. After last season and Hughes's "I will never be in this position again" comment. I'm pretty sure everyone thought things could only get better.
