maude, that pics awesome and the entrance never changed, many a good five a side training session in there! we always won the 5 a side tournaments, mullery used to coach us at times cos he lived on walmer rd, remember? god knows how we done so well the wise's eventually took over the bridport, which was the closest pub to the club, and as much as dennis is chelsea, he is 10 fold more QPR.

Played rugger at Harrow county, and cross country, which fields were in Kenton I believe.
George Smith was the stopper after Alf Ridyard. Played alongside sudger. Got George from Spurs, cost
us about 2 pound 10, and instrumental in our promotion, compared to the Sambaman who cost us
a kings ransom and if he gets us promoted, it will be on a long day in May.

Parsons went to school at the Wren as did Shanks and yes it is the same Parsons who was at the Orient. Prior to that he was at Wimbledon for 3 years. Jefferson & Smith were my coaches at the Wren .

The Duke of E. did the rounds of all the boys clubs in the area including Sulgrave..no big deal ;D but we at Sulgrave had the Who(except Keith Moon) as members..and to this day Roger Daltrey is a proud ex Sulgravian. Of course the BBC often did their rehearsals in the Sulgrave gym so we were never short of an abundance of celebs/stars on the premises...After a football match shower I once bumped into Carole Ann Ford Doctor Who's first assistant...the sight of me must have been more scary to her than a confrontation with the Daleks Ps Scarlett Pimple I bet Chester Barnes or Stuart Gibbs or Jill Hammersley never turned up at Harrow Damn it against my better judgement I have turned myself into a name dropper

Albert Smith was my grandad. He sadly passed away 9th June 1992 aged 73 in Bexley, Kent, we moved him closer to us when he became ill with Alzheimer's (probably caused by heading those heavy footballs too often). He remained best friends with Arthur Jefferson, who we called Uncle Arthur, until the end. His family remain loyal QPR fans and his great grandson is named after Bradley Allen. My grandad loved teaching and working for the club, he used to take me there sometimes when he helped out in the tuck shop. He was a Villa fan as a child but was QPR through and through after his time there, his caricature from the programme hung in his hallway. He kept a scrap book of his football career from his time playing for the British Army, through QPR and ending at Dover. The chip shop clipping is in there along with many other photos and programmes. It is lovely to see that people still remember him fondly, he was a wonderful man and I miss him every day. For the member who remembered my Uncle Robert he has also passed away in June 1996.

Used to take us for games at Warren Farm in the 1970's. Two really nice guys and everyone used to hope that they would get one of them to come on the coach from Christopher Wren School as they were a lot easier going than the full time PE teachers who loved to slipper the boys on a regular basis. When playing for the school once a kid in the opposition was killing me for pace and at half time Arthur Jefferson said to me "struggling there son with him" I said "yes sir". He said "kick him up in the air he will soon slow down". He was right!!! As I said earlier we called them Sir an honour that both gentlemen deserved.

Thanks for the post
One of the things that truly gives me the most "Nachas" (Yiddish word for pride/joy/satisfaction) from this board (amidst all the bs posts one sees and tweets, etc) are posts like those above.

Smudgersgdaughter. That's really sad to hear that Smudgers son Robert Smith passed away in 1996. He was the same age as me quite an early age really! A shock!
As mentioned previously Robert was in my class at Wendell Park infants Victoria Primary and Henry Compton senior school. We knew each other well up until the time the family moved away to the Wembley area circa 1963.
Robert was an R's supporter but he had a tendency to take a keen interest in Aston Villa for obvious reasons. I will post you a personal message
