From Lofty Heights - quite funny too!
Le P.e.n.i.s Arrives!!!!
Today has been a busy day at Loftus Road, with Stephane M'Bia joining the R's from Marseille and Sam Magri joining from Portsmouth
Just after 10pm Sky Sports News announced that the R's have signed Cameroon International Stephane M'Bia from Marseille on a two year deal for an undisclosed fee. M'Bia, 26, can play as a Defensive Midfielder but recently he has operated as a Centre Back for Marseille and has been considered as the clubs best performing star since the move into defence. M'Bia joined Marseille from Rennes in 2009 for a fee of £10.4 million. He was also involved in a tug of war between Arsenal and Bayern Munich last year as both teams looked to sign him to strengthen their squads for a fee of £15million. The Cameroon International opted to stay with Marseille to challenge for another Ligue 1 Championship.
M'Bia brings an interesting character to the R's and it has been quoted that his p.e.n.i.s is known to drop out of his shorts as he runs so he has to tape it to his leg. His ex girlfriend apparently had was nicknamed "John Wayne" by her friends due to the way in which she walked after a night of passion with Le shmekele , as he is affectionatley known by those that shower with him after games. Obviously he'll be a hit with some of our female fans!!
M'Bia certainly seems to be the pick of the twelve signings made by the R's, as Rangers' also signed Portsmouth youngster Sam Magri earlier on in the day.

QPR Official Site PUBLISHED 22:48 31st August 2012 Cameroon international Mbia arrives on two-year deal The ambitions of the club and what the board of directors and the manager want to achieve here excites me greatly." Stephane Mbia QUEENS Park Rangers Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Cameroon international Stephane Mbia. The versatile Mbia – who can play in either defence or midfield – has signed a two year-deal in W12, after Rangers agreed an undisclosed fee with French side Olympique de Marseille for his services. M’Bia was born in the Cameroonian capital of Yaounde and began his career at the Kadji Sports Academy when he was 17 years-old. He later signed for French outfit Rennes in 2004, scoring his first goal in professional football two years later against Lyon, before joining Marseille in 2009. He has represented his country 36 times, scoring on three occasions. Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, R’s boss Mark Hughes said: “Stephane is a very good player, and is another who can play in a number of positions. “He is very adept as a defensive midfielder but he has been regularly playing at centre back so we have got another player who can add to the flexibility of the squad. “He is a big, strong guy with a strong mentality. He wants to win and is the type of player I want at the club. “We have been talking about getting a centre back and he is in my mind for that role, but he is just as adept in midfield and I wouldn’t have any worries about playing him in either position.” Mbia expressed his delight at the move, commenting: “It was an easy decision because this is an important move for my career. “It has always been a dream of mine to play in the Premier League, which I believe is the best league in the world. “The ambitions of the club and what the board of directors and the manager want to achieve here excites me greatly. “I am so happy and enthusiastic about what the future holds here and can’t wait to be part of this exciting project.” Mbia will wear the number 40 shirt at Loftus Road. www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/310812-mbia-signs-345843.aspx

With all our African signings we will be well understrength when the next Africa Cup of Nations is held.
Anyone know when the next one is?

we have:
Traore Senegal cover Fabio Taarabt Morocco cover Granero Mbia Cameroon Cover Nelsen/Hill Diakite Mali cover Faurlin/Derry
All those countries have a decent chance of qualify but we now have decent cover

Hughes was saying very nice things about Nelson a few days ago, so I'd imagine he might start ahead of Mbia - See how he settles in...

He can't be available for today as he wasn't signed in time to be registered.
Marseille have an immediate replacement for Le shmekele as Barton's a big dick.

Ref the 2 year deal, the OM Offy says this.... Stéphane Mbia's transfer to Queens Park Rangers is official. The versatile Cameroon international signed a two-year deal with the Loftus Road outfit, with the option of a further year. Last weekend's 1-0 victory over the champions Montpellier will remain the defensive rock's final appearance in an OM shirt.www.om.net/en/Season/101002/Actualites/62284/Mbia_joins_QPR

If it's a permanent transfer, there's always options of further years, it's called contract renegotiation and applies to any player. The "option" thing intimates it is a loan deal. Is it possible that this is actually a 2 year loan rather than a permanent transfer or is it something that's been lost in translation?

Nothing unusual about it. Fulham signed 2 players on 3 year deals with the option of a further year.

I think the "option" thing probably means that we get the offer first. So it has to be offered to us before another club.

Option for a third year means that third year will be on the same terms as the original 2 year deal. Means if it works out and he's great for us he can't ask for more wages after just two seasons.
I think....

If he settles in well we should try to give him an improved contract after 6 months

Fair enough chaps, just never heard it before in relation to permanent transfers. As long as the option is with M'Bia and not Marseille, all's god.

Seen the option thing quite a lot. Sometimes the option is for the club - so we could get the extra year before he goes on the open market and sometimes for the player as players we have had - Hulse ??
