When will they learn? A Lot of people don't use or want to use either Twitter or facebook. Two forums great for identity theft. Especially the latter. Some people just can't help themselves with the personal information they put up on there about themselves.

The board that closed was QPR 1882, which was set up a couple of years ago....

I remember reading on another site it was called "The bed site", apparently suggesting it only had 4 posters.

It's sometimes hard to say why some QPR sites "succeed" and some don't. There are probably a few factors I can think of. Or even for that matter, what constitutes "success." As long as people involved with a board derive pleasure from reading or posting on a board, then it some ways it's clearly a success. (And in its own way, "The Number One QPR Messageboard).
Certainly some modicum of praise is due to anyone who make the effort to set up an QPR independent messageboard or blog. And I'd certainly not emulate what another poster mockingly said about this board in its earlier days: (""Deader than a dodo")

I've found most QPR MB's offer a slight difference than the other, even when it's the same people from within the QPR community involved.
