- Is there ANYONE that people really, really want - as opposed to "Well he might be OK" or "Of the choices, he'd be best"
- 18 months ago, high on the new owners money, there was "Mourinho" - but now almost everyone seems like just might do the job:
- De Canio or Warnock or Curbishley or Wise or Erickson or Ferguson or Ince, etc - I can think of no one that if we appointed with our current system, and the probable non-big spending, that we'd all be really excited about
I thought Dowie could do the job. I thought Sousa could do the job. Maybe/hopefully one of the appointees will. But big doubts. And that comes from the top. Any manager might do the job. But the terms/atmosphere at QPR is not so great.

Meanwhile West Ham giving Zola and Clarke four year contracts!(At QPR, probably wouldn't have lasted out the season) Telegraph - Jason Burt Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke pen new West Ham contracts Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke will on Friday sign new four-year contracts at West Ham, ending speculation over their future. The lengthy deals will replace the 12-month rolling contracts they agreed when they were appointed at Upton Park in September following Alan Curbishley's exit. West Ham were keen to reward Zola and Clarke after the promising start they have made at the club, who are seventh in the Premier League table and vying to qualify for next season's Europa League. Talks were opened last week with chief executive Scott Duxbury and were concluded on Thursday with West Ham due to make an announcement later today ahead of tomorrow's League match against Chelsea. Zola is, of course, a Chelsea favourite, and was voted the club's best player of all-time, while Clarke, a former team-mate of the Italian, was lured from Stamford Bridge as part of the deal to sign up a new management team. West Ham paid Chelsea £1 million in compensation to secure Clarke, which appeared an extraordinary sum to sign up an assistant manager, but he has worked in tandem with Zola who, in an exclusive interview to be published in The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, hails the Scot as "vital" to the success he has so far enjoyed. Zola told Telegraph Sport he was delighted to be discussing a new deal, adding: "The club is looking after me and my staff. I don't think they were worried that I might leave. They know that I like what I am doing here. I am just starting a project and it would be a pity to leave something that is not done yet. " Eyebrows were raised when the 42-year-old was appointed, given he had not managed before and was plucked from his role as assistant coach to the Italian under-21s. That criticism grew after a series of disappointing results, but Zola and Clarke have turned things round dramatically. The new deals, it will be argued, also confirm that despite the financial difficulties being endured by owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson and with ownership of West Ham expected to be transferred from the Icelandic businessman in the coming months, the club are continue to function successfully as a self-financing business under Duxbury. As well as Zola and Clarke, West Ham have signed up a number of key players on new long-term deals including Carlton Cole, Scott Parker, Mark Noble and Jack Collison. www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/westham/5209351/Gianfranco-Zola-and-Steve-Clarke-pen-new-West-Ham-contracts.html

The perfect manager for QPR is one that pleases Briatore. If we win matches more fans will come which makes more money and the more matches we win the more chance of promotion which brings even more money.

But the terms/atmosphere at QPR is not so great. what about this guy? Del Neri explains Atalanta exit22 Apr 2009 - 07:08:51 Del Neri explains Atalanta exit Atalanta coach Luigi Del Neri says he is content with his decision to leave the Serie A club at the end of the season. The 58-year-old has spent two years in charge of the Bergamo outfit, but has rejected the offer to carry on next term. He said: "It's not true that I have received an offer from another team. I am leaving simply because there is a difference in objectives between myself and the club. "I said that I didn't want to fight for survival but for other goals and so I will either go elsewhere or take a year out." Atalanta president Alessandro Ruggeri had recently stated: "We had high hopes he would renew his contract, but earlier this month he told me that an important club was interested in him. "In our last meeting he said that he had no longer the motivation to continue with our adventure and that he wanted to do something more important." www.football.co.uk/atalanta/del_neri_explains_atalanta_exit_281779.shtml
