Well since it's down at the moment report....for what could be some quite serious reasons I'll have a chat on here. I wonder why in England the Sporting Director role is sneered at? It never seems to work but looking on the continent and it's a very popular system. Here's a snippet that I thought you might find interesting which of course again could open up the debate if QPR do have the best Sporting Director possible. Spanish cup winners Sevilla announced that sporting director Monchi has extended his contract at the club until 2012. Monchi, whose full name is Ramon Rodriguez, has been on the wish lists of several Spanish clubs, in particular Valencia. He is considered one of the architects of Sevilla's recent success, thanks to having signed relatively unknown youngsters for the club like Brazilians Julio Baptista, Daniel Alves, Adriano, Luis Fabiano and Renato. Monchi was reserve goalkeeper at Sevilla in the 1990s and has been sporting director at the Estadio Pizjuan since 2000.

Well (as I sent in a pm to Myu yestersday) wishing the WATRB site my best.
re Sporting Director/Director of Football.
I think it hasn't worked thus far in English football; and been tried several places.
But yes, it does work on "the Continent" - where the managers/Chief Coaches accept that system
So if you want to go that route, you certainly should appoint a manager/Chief Coach who has no problems with that - ie go for the Continental manager and stay away from the Dowie, Wise, Ince approach.
Now who your manager is one thing. Who your sporting director is another.
And there has to be a good working relationship/respect between the two. With the Manager/Head coach having deep input into the players signed. (And must make clear if doesn't want them)..
Does the Sporting Director personally have to be a great football judge? Perhaps not. As long as there is a scouting network, and the Sporting Director relies on them
And of course the role of the owner should be to butt out!

Thats why i think the club will go for LDC.
I dont think it's any big secret that LDC had a superb working relationship with both Flavio and Gianni.
Although you could argue that Fergie is more of a Sporting Director now at United he is hardly ever on the training pitch and spends hours

Well of course the alternative is to get rid of the Sporting Director!
And IF you're going to keep the Sporting Director approach, say it's only fair to give someone else a chance! I mean Gianni's been at QPR longer than Holloway!

And an update from WATRB therangersboys.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rumours&action=display&thread=23672Of course if the posts are deleted... Does that mean my brilliant blog posts are deleted on that site? And my posts to Pete? And the claim by a poster about who passed on information to the club? "Well just by chance, of all the sites in all the world at all the time, I just happened to see this post about what the Manager had said to a poster"?

Nothing against the man but Paladini is an agent not a scout like Monchi.
Monchi watches opposing teams and can spot talent. How often does Paladini go and watch non or lower league football?
Nothing against a DOF role and Manager but as Report has said they must have an understanding of each others role as well as being able to communicate what they require and expect from/to each other.

I have nothing against the Sporting Director system provided they are suitably qualified for the role. GP IMO clearly isn't.
Another role could be found - chief schmoozer would suit him down to the ground.
