According to some posts on WAGRB it seems the 'Usual Suspects' are strongly hinting that Elvijs Putnins may be able to step up and challenge Cerny next season. My gut tells me it has to be GP's influence on the little darlings. Perhaps to soften the blow when Lee Camp is sold with no decent replacement lined up? Or Maybe the poor fellows watched him play and drew their own conclusion but I very much doubt that because last night it was obvious that he is far from being Championship or even league standard.
I'm not saying that 'Elvis' won't make it. He did look OK on that showing and staff at the club have said he does have the talent but the step up won't and IMO shouldn't be for quite a while. Loads of hype as the new next best thing since sliced great white hopes is exactly the opposite of what the lad needs right now. He is still a kid and needs good coaching, time to grow, build himself, his confidence, learn his trade and work himself up the football ladder so to speak. Then who knows? but for now the question still remains...When Flav/GP finally get shot of our very competent and popular young Number 2 for reasons only known to them and the winkers among our fanbase. Who will fill Lee Camp's boots?

You really think Camp is competent?
Was never convinced by him and personally don;t see him as any great loss whatsoever.
hello to all by the way...

If Camp goes we have no decent cover and he is decent cover. Not sure what we gain by selling him for 800k, we would have to replace him for starters.

Hello Writtler, good to see you on here.
I am firmly in the Cerny corner when it comes to our Number 1 but we do need another keeper. With better application and attitude Camp could have been our No 1 in time but that's not going to happen so we need a proper replacement and it ain't going to be and nor should it be 'Elvis' as some on the Island are suggesting.
IMO we need to buy a keeper to challenge Cerny right now and give Elvis time to learn his trade.

I absolutely think we need a real challenger to Cerny. So really two #1s competing. Potential is exactly that: Potential. Hasn't worked with any of other young goalies

Who will fill Lee Camp's boots? you're reading way way too much into it. i've seen him play and he looks mustard, thats all really! Camp will be offski but we need to buy a decent back up to cerny...elvis is too young to be that back up. like i said, you're reading too much into things!

So as I said to Pete in my blog exchange last week on WATRB, you're suggesting that "Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar" ?

And of course we HAD a supposedly brilliant young goalkeeper: Liam O'Brien... and we know what happened to him.

Are you sure about that? He was youth team - so what do you expect? International caps?
As I recall the stories (don't know if true), the parents were sort of hoping that QPR would have a goalkeeping coach to help develop their son...!

No probs. I wish the boy well as I would any budding young footballer. Not sure Pompey is the best place for him though...doesnt seem to have any real competition and the club is a bit of a state. Same as Dean P, cant see him getting much of a chance at spuds. Great deal negotiated by GP and Alex Winton to flog him for so much but, for the kid, probably the wrong place to be.

I doubt Camp has a future at QPR, regardless of how good he is. I don't think he'll be allowed to make good his indiscretion re. Notts Forrest that time. In my very humble opinion, I think having Cole as cover for Cerny is the most likely scenario. He's only gone on loan isn't he..? To be honest, I don't know much about Cole as a keeper. Maybe he's not up to it either?

Jake Cole's return to QPR is a "factoid" you may have read on/learned from this site (or some other "immitation" fan site! ) But I don't believe it's something you read on our Official Site!

And back to Liam O'Brien...Have to do some more "research" but I think Scott you may be somewhat incorrect in your assessment re how he's doing at Portsmouth.
