Roberge was decent when id watch him on the odd occasion against Panathinaikos and was actually close to signing with us but maritimo beat us to him. Ukra was linked with Panathinaikos too that year but hes surplus to requirements at Porto so i dont think hed be a good signing. If he cant cut it for Porto then why would he cut it in the Premier League? It pains me to say it but I think that Porto are better than all but the top 4 in the PL and they regularly get to the last 8 of the champions league. They're particularly good at finding talent and selling it on for crap loads...look at Hulk he came to them as a 22 yr old, no one had heard of and will sell him as a Brazilian international for crap loads to Chelsea. They will not skip a beat if he goes. Being a marginal player at Porto is still probably a very good player

Unless there are players we REALLY want, no need to sign any more. Certainly don't want to get landed with an "ok" player but not one we really wanted

BBC picked up Times story www.westlondonsport.com/features-comment/qpr-tipped-to-table-bid-for-united-outcast-berbatovQPR want to sign Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United, The Times report. It is suggested that Rangers are preparing a £5m bid for the Bulgarian, who has been widely tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer. Tottenham are considering a £7.5m bid for Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling, according to the Daily Mail. The 17-year-old from Harlesden has been linked with a loan move back to QPR, who lost him when he secured a transfer to Anfield in 2010. But it is claimed that Spurs are looking to sign him on a permanent basis. The Mail also say Chelsea are preparing a final offer of £7.5m for Wigan star Victor Moses, having had three bids for him rejected.

Surely after getting 1 or probably 2 more players. That has to be it for the whole of the season. The squad we have now should be good enough to give us a comfprtable season and where we can build steadily from. I would still love for us to get ZaHa from Palace.

Please don't go for Berbatov We will give him a three year contract and then be stuck with him for the last two years with high wages and stuck on the bench

I am not convinced Roberge is any better than what we have available right now. We have Clint Hill, Anton Ferdinand, Nedum Onuoha, Matt Connolly and Ryan Nelson all either dedicated CBs or a flexible enough to play in that position.
If we make a signing that significantly improves then that is fine but frankly they would have to go some to be better than Clint was when he played CB for the second half of last season. The guy was immense.
So I would say try and get Samba and if that fails then leave it until the January window because there is no one else available who improves what we already have.

31/07/2012 09:34 Dimitar Berbatov
The Times' Gary Jacob writes...
QPR want £5m Berbatov Queens Park Rangers are preparing an offer for Dimitar Berbatov as they continue the comprehensive revamp of a squad that evaded relegation narrowly last season. Manchester United have valued the former Bulgaria forward at £5million after taking up the option in February to extend his contract by one season until next summer. Berbatov, 31, has indicated that he wants to leave Old Trafford for regular first-team opportunities, having started five of his 12 league games last term. Galatasaray yesterday ruled out a bid for the striker, but QPR are keen to add Berbatov to the seven players who have arrived this summer. They include Andrew Johnson, who is considered a reserve behind fellow strikers Bobby Zamora and Djibril Cisse.

Can't see it personally. We have no strikers under the age of 30. Berbatov is 31 which means in 2 or 3 years time we will need to buy a whole new strike force.

I think it's a case of trusting Rigg and Hughes on what they think is best for the squad. I'd assume if we don't sign either of Toure or Samba we would have attempted to sign both considering Hughes has signed them before. If we sign Roberge then who knows how successful he'll be and whether he'll be an improvement on what we have. I don't remember anyone jumping up and down when Hughes signed Kompany for City but now look at the player he's become. Hughes' greatest successes in the transfer market have all been in their 20s when he signed them - Dembele, Kompany and Samba. The likes of Roberge and Ukra are experienced professionals who I'd assume if we do sign Rigg has seen something that others have missed.

If you'd told me three years ago that one day QPR would be reported to bid for Berbatov and that I wouldn't want him at the club, I certainly would have laughed at your face...

There are some players who play for the love of the game then there are others who come across as wanting money and Berbatov doesn't strike me as the type of player who would drop to QPR for the love of the game. As far as combinations go I think he would be well suited to playing alongside either Cisse or AJ. Don't think the combination of Cisse and Defoe would work but then again people said Yorke and Cole wouldn't be a success.
On his day he is a marvellous player but as I said I struggle to believe he would join us for the same reasons Park joined us.

If you'd told me three years ago that one day QPR would be reported to bid for Berbatov and that I wouldn't want him at the club, I certainly would have laughed at your face... I can agree with this completely & it also applies to many of the names that we have been linked with this summer. Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Berbatov out of contract & so no transfer fee would be involved?

www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2181590/Transfer-latest-Tottenham-target-Aly-Cissokho-West-Ham-eye-Ukra.htmlBlackburn’s seemingly best-laid plans have unravelled with the injury to Leon Best that will keep him out until January. They are looking for two more strikers now and ones they thought they had lined up seem unwilling to join them. West Brom’s Simon Cox has had offers from Charlton and Celtic but is more likely to seek a sideways move in the Premier League with two or three clubs showing interest. Steve Kean has asked about Jamie Mackie from QPR but he does not want to leave Loftus Road. DJ Campbell is one name that has cropped up however with Mark Hughes willing to let him go as he plans to recruit another striker himself. Campbell has interest from ambitious Watford and Roberto Martinez at Wigan. Blackburn may be willing to offer better terms but top flight Wigan could suit his style. Andre Monteiro, or Ukra to his mum, is a Portuguese striker attached to Porto who has a glowing reputation from his days with Portugal U21s. He is now 24 and has been on loan to Braga where he scored four goals in 18 games. He plays off the striker as an attacking midfielder also and his quality on the ball has attracted English clubs. West Ham and QPR are among those interested. Sam Allardyce, who has compensated for the disappointment of missing out to Wigan on Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis with a move for Aston Villa’s James Collins, is not overly hopeful of signing Andy Carroll from Liverpool. He is exploring other attacking options as he needs another striker and a winger. The club is also receiving tentative offers for the likes of Carlton Cole while Ricardo Vaz Te is still seeking a new deal.

Interesting Samba posting from Wetspam board...I guess we can see if he does play in the Europa League www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=140843&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15680I understand Ramis story that we changed our mind just before his medical, so he went to Wigan. Apparently there's someone else in picture and we decided to go with that 3rd person and Collins. Collins a decent addition but I am dying to know who's that player? For what it's worth - Chris Samba won't play tomorrow's Europa league match Anji vs. Vitesse but is fit and played whole last league match (this weekend). Reports say he is in London but there's no deal with QPR. Posts: 77 Joined: Fri Jul 20, 2012 7:38 am
