Played last year as CB for CS Maritimo, but played LB when in Greece. Think he will be played as a CB for us though, we don't need a LB. CS Maritimo finished 5th last season so he must be pretty good

Agree Rory, though not unike MH to bring in a player good for more than one position. CS Maritimo was the big suprise last year with a very young squad.

And I still think Onuoha could be used more often as a CB. He's our only tall player at the back, and it was it best position at Man City. He's not been at his best as CB for us, but it could be a good option IMO.

the article is 4 days old but says he's leaving for London the following day (Friday)....says that negotiations are not complete but well advanced.

And here's the Portuguese article translated but not by me www.abola.pt/nnh/ver.aspx?id=343850Ukra pointed to English football For Writing Ukra is in an uncomfortable situation, since it continues to train yourself with Sapunaru and Belluschi, the part of the squad, but may be imminent departure from FC Porto. SC Braga, who was on loan last season, is one possibility to consider, yesterday the site Blogolo advancing with two candidates, both English Queens Park Rangers, Premier League, Nottingham Forest and the level immediately below.

Look when you start quoting the Lebanon Daily Star perhaps credibility is being pushed: Man City step up interest in Liverpool’s Daniel Agger July 30, 2012 04:47 PM The Daily Star Danish defender Daniel Agger (R) vies with German forward Mario Gomez during the Euro 2012 football championships match Denmark vs. Germany, on June 17, 2012 at the Arena Lviv in Lviv. AFP PHOTO / ANNE-CHRISTINE POUJOULAT BEIRUT: Manchester City are stepping up their interest in Liverpool defender Daniel Agger and have tabled a 13-million-pound ($20.4 million) offer for the Danish international. Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen on signing the 27-year-old, with The Daily Mirror reporting that Liverpool face a fight to keep hold of the talented center-half. City are understood to have made the bid last week and while the club rejected the Premier League winners’ offer, Agger is reported to have told new Reds manager Brendan Rodgers that he wants to leave Anfield. Aware of City’s interest, Agger is likely to wait before making a decision about where he will be playing next season. City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to add defensive reinforcements to his squad and has identified Agger being the ideal candidate to provide competition for Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott. Kolo Toure is the player likely to be sacrificed by Mancini, with the Ivory Coast international likely to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer. The former Arsenal defender joined City for 15-million pounds but is now being targeted by Turkish side Bursaspor and Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. Barcelona are also said to be interested in Toure, with new boss Tito Vilanova keen on adding a versatile and experienced player to his side. City have so far been unable to find a buyer for Toure willing to match his 120,000-pounds-a-week wages. QPR are set to bid for Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin and Tottenham’s Jermain Defoe, with Hoops boss Mark Hughes hoping that the lure of first team football will be enough to encourage the two to move to Loftus Road.
Both players struggled to command first team places with their respective North London clubs last season, and caughtoffside.com reports that QPR are in the frame to land the two forwards.
Arshavin is known to want to remain in London should, as expected, he leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, although Fulham are expected to rival QPR for the Russian’s services.
England striker Defoe rarely made Spurs’ starting lineup last season, with former boss Harry Redknapp preferring to use the player as an impact substitute.
Defoe is a proven goal scorer in the Premier League, claiming 17 goals in all competitions last season despite most of his appearances coming from the bench.Read more: www.dailystar.com.lb/Sports/Football/2012/Jul-30/182655-man-city-step-up-interest-in-liverpools-daniel-agger.ashx#ixzz227HmmU3y (The Daily Star :: Lebanon News :: http://www.dailystar.com.lb)

Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo joins Dynamo Kiev on loan By Oluwashina Okeleji BBC Sport, Lagos Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev have taken Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo from AC Milan on a season-long loan. The 27-year-old joined Milan from Marseille last summer but struggled for a regular first-team place, spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Premier League club QPR. After being frozen out in pre-season at Milan, he has opted to move again. "Coming to the Ukraine is a great opportunity for me to earn a regular first-team place," he told BBC Sport. "I know Milan is a big club but I am not a player who is happy to sit down, collecting salary without playing football. "I've considered a lot of things and I realised going elsewhere for regular football is greater than a life on the Milan bench." Dynamo Kiev have been given an option to sign Taiwo outright for €2m at the end of the season. BBC Sport understands English Premier League pair Queens Park Rangers and Reading, Portuguese side Benfica and French outfit Marseille approached AC Milan for the Nigerian. But his wage demands derailed talks of a switch to England, Portugal or a return to former club Marseille, where he is still a crowd favourite. Taiwo explained: "It was a dream to move to AC Milan but to be honest I never had the chance to show what I am capable of doing but that is life. "I chose to come to Dynamo Kiev because of the opportunity to play in the Uefa Champions League and also to experience a new life. "It was very important to consider my international career and I took this decision with that in mind." Taiwo will play alongside compatriots Yusuf Ayila, Lukman Haruna and Brown Ideye at Dynamo. "I know them [the Nigerians] from the national team set-up. I have been friends with Yusuf [Ayila] for several years. That makes it a lot easier to settle down. All four players were part of the Nigerian squad that went to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19051305?

Lazio striker rules out Premier League switch By talkSPORT | Monday, July 30, 2012 One-time Birmingham striker Mauro Zarate has ruled out a return to the Premier League after declaring his intention to stay at Lazio. Zarate, who enjoyed a loan spell at St Andrew’s in 2008, was linked with a move to QPR in January, with manager Mark Hughes thought to be an admirer of the Argentinian forward. The striker spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, but having returned to Lazio, Zarate has pledged his allegiance to the capital club, ending any hope Hughes may have of reviving a move. "I will stay at Lazio, 100 per cent, to repay the love of the fans on the field," he told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Commit for many more years? My contract will remain here." Roberge leaves for England Published em 25 jul 2012 Ã s 13:29 (had to fix that horrible translation) The President of the Maritimo confirms the exit of the centre back to a London team, every indication is that it is Queens Park Rangers. After two seasons with the Maritimo, Roberge is leaving the Madeiran club and Portuguese football. The news was given by President of the Maritimistas, Carlos Pereira, wouldn't give the name of the London club. Apparently the French central defender will join the Queens Park Rangers, the Premier League. Ferry is also the output goalkeeper Pecanha, who remained one year contract. www.ojogo.pt/Futebol/1a_liga/maritimo/interior.aspx?content_id=2685767Slight doubt on this, is that it was this source that said "Traore to Benfica" ============ he does look good on the vid...............but they all do!

Roberge was decent when id watch him on the odd occasion against Panathinaikos and was actually close to signing with us but maritimo beat us to him. Ukra was linked with Panathinaikos too that year but hes surplus to requirements at Porto so i dont think hed be a good signing. If he cant cut it for Porto then why would he cut it in the Premier League?
