Or Foster! MAIL Hughes prepares £5m bid for Foster after weighing up Gordon, Gomes and Given By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER PUBLISHED: 16:18 EST, 31 May 2012 | UPDATED: 16:18 EST, 31 May 2012 Comments (0) Share QPR are ready to step up interest in Birmingham goalkeeper Ben Foster by making a £5million bid. Manager Mark Hughes had also shown interest in Sunderland's Craig Gordon, Tottenham's Heurelho Gomes and Aston Villa's Shay Given but Foster's form following a strong season on loan at West Bromwich Albion has convinced Hughes he is the right man. Once Foster is signed, Hughes will allow Paddy Kenny to join Leeds United. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2152936/QPR-prepare-5m-bid-Ben-Foster.html#ixzz1wUDZqNbY

Cook eyes Championship switch Former QPR winger convinced he has a bright future By Chris Galea. Last Updated: May 31, 2012 11:06pm 0 0 Lee Cook: Keen to join a Championship club and has not ruled out Charlton Former Queens Park Rangers winger Lee Cook has set his sights on securing a move to a Championship club this summer. The 29-year-old struggled to break into the first team at Loftus Road this season after making a full recovery from a long-term knee injury. However, successful loan spells at Leyton Orient and Charlton put him in the shop window, with the experienced playmaker now a free agent. He has now told Sky Sports that he is keen to return to the Premier League one day and prove his ability at the top level. "I'm aiming for the Championship without a doubt because I know that I can still play in that division," he said. "I'm confident of that happening from what my agent tells me, but I still have a lot of ambition and still want to be aiming for the Premier League again. "I'm speaking to my agent every day, but a lot of the managers are away at the minute. "Things will probably start to move again in the next couple of weeks and I'll keep ticking over fitness wise by going to the gym at QPR until I join a new club." Charlton chance Cook ended the season by helping Charlton secure the League One title, making four appearances, and he has not ruled out a permanent switch to The Valley. He said: "I went there when they were flying with them top of the league by a good eight points and I went to help them finish the job off. "Powelly (Chris Powell) brought me in and told me that a few of the lads were struggling and I could help with their final push. "I had a good few games down there and training was really good too, so it was a very enjoyable spell and a great way to end the season. "The loan stints were my chance to prove to everybody that I was fully fit again because I'd been out for over a year and it was one of those where people were questioning how fit my leg was. "I started every game whilst at Orient, with ten games in the space of two months, so it was a chance to prove my fitness and I feel I've done that now. "I just can't wait to join a new club where I know I'll be for a good few years and be able to help them achieve promotion, which I've seen happen at two different clubs in the last few seasons." www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7789491/?

I like how at the end of that Foster article it says "Once Foster is signed" as if it's a done deal.

Ric-Roc strikes again!!!
Say's on Fantasy Island that Andy Johnson is signing next week after he comes back from his holidays. Not an improvement on what we have but for free he is a much better squad player than Bothroyd and probably DJ.

Good luck to cookie, on the keeper front i think Given is a better keeper than Foster, Gomes is nailed on to throw a couple in the net each season so he must be a no no, Gordon is ok but i think he wouldnt come down here anyway but i could be wrong, and dont get me wrong i think Foster is a good keeper so wouldnt grumble if he signs.

If we are to sign Johnson then it must be the end of Bothroyd, Hulse, Helguson.

If we are to sign Johnson then it must be the end of Bothroyd, Hulse, Helguson. I still think we will end up keeping two of those three you mention and of course Vine,Agye have gone and Hulse and Hewitt will follow !

To be honest, even DJ has failed to deliver. ok, he had an injury and then an illness and every week he was collecting decent wages for no return. Bothroyd, Hulse & Helguson are either not at this level or getting on in years.

I'd be very happy with Foster or Given, with a preference to Foster.
I still can't see us getting Hooper from Celtic despite his wish to move back to England although I'd love to see him join us. I would keep DJ, he's an R's fan and surely must be itching to show what he can do but hopefully like Johnson he'll be a squad player heping out when Cisse and AN Other are unable to play.

I can't see Adam Johnson coming here, maybe Liverpool or somewhere like that. We should get Onouha, SWP and Rigg talking to him though trying to persuade him to come just in case. I think Andy on a free is a decent signing, it also means we can spend more on a keeper/defender/midfielder. If Hughes is planning on playing Cisse and Zamora up front next season or even just one of them there is no point in spending £6+ on a new striker. Hughes and Zamora have worked with him before and he is free.
