Thanks CPR and thanks again to Bushy.
Now, if you look at the crowd in Bushy's pic, count 185 along from the left and go back 7 rows, you'll see me cheering!

OK Guys, this brings to an end this thread; these are the last two pics I have managed to find. The first is of William (Billy) Pointon, a centre forward who joined us from Port Vale in January 1949 and left for Brentford in February 1950. He played 26 games and scored 6 goals. The second pic is of goalkeeper Reg Allen and was taken just before, to the intense dismay of many of us, he was transferred to Manure for £11,000 which was a record fee at that time for a goalkeeper. I can remember being in tears and inconsolable at the time. In my opinion we have never had a goalkeeper to match him in the years since. Hope you have enjoyed the thread.

Sorry about this but I couldn't resist. I just felt sure you would really love to see a picture of Gramps in 1936 to finish things off!

This, from one of Gramps' posts:
"One of my favourite players of the old days was Jimmy Langley, a brilliant full back who we signed from Fulham. He played over a hundred games for us in two years and to the best of my knowledge was never in his entire career booked or sent off (I am open to correction on that) and deservedly became known as "Gentleman Jim". If he challenged a player and that player went down, Jim would always help him to his feet and check that he was OK."
I can just imagine him playing today, all the extra mileage he would be doing trying to help Drogba et al to their feet as they rolled around in mortal agony. An extra few miles a game surely.

Any idea how many fans were at the game looks packed. Not sure to which game you refer, Scarlet. The ones mentioned in this thread are: Leeds: 13,385 Hull: 28,000 Coventry: 16,768 The pic of the Spurs match posted by Bushy: 29,771 Oh, to have the days of seat-less terraces back.
