I go to home games a couple of times a season and the same with away games. When at Loftus Road I get a seat wherever I happen to get one and so I have sat in all parts of the stadium over the years.
Last night I finally took my lad who is 8 after waiting a long time to do it when we both felt ready. Because of him I thought I'd get seats in the family area in the lower loft.
Big mistake. A group of guys we were next to were utter morons. These were not kids but middle aged men. People swear...I swear....it happens...but this was ridiculous. I had warned my lad about hearing swearing and knew he would be mature about it so did not think anything more of it. The stuff these guys were coming out with was mental. Screaming the ref's a f*cking c*nt was the most minimal part of it. There was calling out about Nathan Dyer being a f*cking peadophile, general smatterings of f*ck off you welsh c*nts, we f*cking hate the welsh and the like.
But what was amazing was the barracking of our our fans. This group seemed to have a joke going that whenever anyone stood up they shouted "sit down" immediately. They shouted at a couple a few rows in front who had a 5 or 6 year old with them. They also shouted at a girl who had arrived late and was trying to get to her seat to sit down and when she turned to look she was clearly intimidated. They shouted something sexual as she went as well but she didn't hear that. I cannot believe these guys got a kick out of intimidating the fans around them?!?!?!
My lad really enjoyed it but he looked scared at some of the stuff they were shouting. I had to give him a pep talk on the way back about why they were acting that way but the truth was I could not really explain why they were doing it just that some people act that way even though they shouldn't.
I'll be taking my boy back there but not in the family area, it was a complete disgrace. I did not feel able to take those guys to task over it in front of my lad, I am just left really disappointed because in all the times I have been to LR I have never seen this sort of rancid behaviour.
Maybe I should have done something but sometimes experiences like this stick in a young persons mind and I did not want my boy to remember his first R's game because Dad had an argument with fellow fans. I just wanted him to remember we thumped the Swans 3-0.

There are some proper W*nkers that go to QPR matches to be honest. All clubs have them, some have more than others (Millwall, Leeds, Cardiff etc)

My inclination would be to send what you have written to Phil Beard with a copy to Tony Fernandes and Amit Bhatia although you will find that they will totally ignore it, sadly. They have ignored everything I ever sent them!

Exactly, you should complain to the club, it might / should be worth a couple of complimentary tickets for you & your lad in the future, at least it would if we have any class about us.
Personally speaking I wouldnt "grass" anyone up or anything like that, but you were sitting in the family stand & clearly have grounds for complaint, also the guy above is right, trying to have it out with a group like that with your young lad in tow could end up upsetting / traumatising / intimidating the boy more & put him off football for life.
Seriously, you have ground for complaint, I hope you contact the club & tell them exactly what you have told us & let us know how you get on as well.
Your lad should not have his introduction to football tarnished like this especially when you deliberately chose to sit in the "family" stand, this is not acceptable!
Everyone swears at football of course, but the C* Word in front of children ? No, I draw the line at that 100% unacceptable.

This can all be done anonymously. Clubs, contrary to the perception of fans, actually take these incidents seriously, especially since you were located in a family section. In addition, it may be that the incident did not go unnoticed by other fans who may have also reported the incident.

To be honest, the paddock would be better as a family stand,(shame it isnt bigger) you dont get the pillocks in that section.

Please Blantfowl.
You must report this to the club. I hope that they would give you complimentaries but that is not the issue.
You owe it to your son & to future families that may be in the same situation that you were to give the club the chance to do something positive.
I'm very pleased to read that your son loved watching Rangers & hopefully he will for the rest of his life. However, you will need to explain to him that we do quite often lose!

If you were in the kids section, why didn't you tell the stewards to sort them out?

Blatantfowl I am really sorry to hear about your experience especially it being father and son first LR game "you picked the right night". I take my son occasionally who is also 8 and got tickets in the school-end behind the goal for the Stoke game. It does appear to have a lot more younger spectators in there so I am hoping the adults will not be the Neanderthals you had last night. You might consider the school-end next time and he is free in there just the same as Lower loft.

If you were in the kids section, why didn't you tell the stewards to sort them out? That's a fair point Jon but for the same reason as I did not take them on myself I did not feel comfortable getting a steward either. Maybe I bottled it but in my opinion it was unlikely a steward was going to take action other than to warn them and then me and my lad would be left shoulder to shoulder with a hostile group for the rest of his first game. They would have said it was just banter. There was a lot of humor in their banter but this was lost in the hate they were spewing. At the very least I would have spent the rest of the game getting comments from them. They were already mouthing off at other fans just for walking past! But all your advice on here has helped make up my mind. I am definitely going to report this to the club and hope something good can come out of it.

I have done it now, used the feedback form on the official site to tell the club and as well as a short explanation have referenced this thread.
Just off to tweet it as well now

Sorry to hear of your bad experiences in the Loft Lower, my son and I sat there last season and didn't have any issues but moved upstairs for a better view and we have a cracking bunch of fans around us in Block NU Upper Loft. I think it is the luck of the draw when you pick your spot on a casual basis.
On a lighter note when I brought my son Jack when he was about 6 years old the crowd in Ellerslie Road started singing 'The Referee's a w####r' before I knew it he had joined in the chorus, because I didn't react or mention it again later it was probably another 8 years before he uttered the word again.
Goes to show that if you don't draw attention to it you don't get a reaction.
I hope your next visit is a more positive off field experience for you and your son but an equally positive result on it!

Sorry to hear about your experience last night Blatant, I'm embaressed to say we have our fair share of muppets in the crowd even in the lower loft
My lad (also 8) and I are members but sit wherever we fancy, and were in N lower last night. I tend to agree with others that either paddock or school end tends to be more child friendly
I'm sure you've taken the right course of action both last night and postmatch, I hope the club responds correctly, and please don't be put off from bringing your son back

I wouldn't worry too much. My first game was the 6-0 win over Palace back on the last day of the 98/99 season that I believe kept us up. My main memory of the game is lots and lots of balloons but I'm sure tensions were high that day too!

football clubs, the chairman, the stewards, the payers , the janitors or the tea ladies can never and will never stop dickheads being dickheads. please dont write a letterto the club, what do you think that will gain? noting, whatsoever. loads of divvs at rangers, just sit with the families if you dont want youre kids to hear the vile abuse mate.

If we ever did get a new stadia then my guess would that in order to get a ticket in the family enclosure then you have to be accompanied by a child no older than mid-teens. Then you would hope it would stop the foul mouthed yob from spitting bile over younger heads.
Right or wrong?

Writing a letter may not get a response/lead to change. But if you don't contact the club, how is change even possible?
In this respect, presumably the club doesn't want foul language. (It's said so before and I believe them) Now whether they can do anything to stop it, besides admonitions and statements is something else.
And whether they could do more, but are not (Don't want to upset the swearing fans, who bring in money, for instance as one possibility.)
But if there is something happening you're not happy with...Express your view
And then at the very minimum, there will be no possibility of the club saying "But no one told us there was a problem"
And absolutely, the club should - and I presume will - write a response back.

Mike I would not go as far as getting the cozzers involved but. Merely a little word in there ear from a steward just to remind them of there surroundings and have a little self respect I think.

99%of the stewards dont tell no-one nothing kempt mate, they have to get the filth to do it. and too right if there are dopes acting like that in the kid friendly area.
