"If we invest at his prices , then they'll invest". I'm still holding back on renewing two ST's, if it can help other ponderers, on the basis that I object to his logic above. Is there any club that raised prices like us on assumption we're prem bound? And that as it never happened, this season is more championship at those prices.
I'm wondering if this is why ST takeup has been slow? 20% off this season would have been more appropriate. I now have the option of waiting till the summer and only paying an average of £13 more, to see what spending is happening. Or I can go a few walkups and get a half season ticket at xmas.
I just don't want to subscribe to his idea of "pay whatever I want you to now". As we alledgedly have one millionaire and two billionaires on board, and that those price rises only generated about £2-3 million? extra over this season, there should have been no rise at all of any significance. And there would have been less turmoil.
I hope in one way, ST takeup stays low, which can then mean matchday prices will stay low, and that the board realise we're not all stupid. There's no mention of these prices yet, that's outrageous too. we must be the only club in the country that have not published them.
Does the principal of it bother anybody?

Yes, mate, profoundly. And they look scared to me.
Surely they are richer, cleverer and tougher than mere oiks like Ramsey, Shankly and Mercer were? Who contented themselves with winning matches and competitions.
Although Ramsey must wish he'd changed the colour of the Ground to blue from its former colour of blue instead of opting to win the Third, Second and First Division titles as he did at Ipswich. Not to mention the World Cup.
And Shankly's ghost must be amazed that he preferred promotion, the League, the Cup and the League again in just 5 years when he might have immortalized his own memory by renaming Anfield's seating areas Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Ditto Joe Mercer. He had chance after chance to redesign City's badge and what does he do? Spends valuable drawing time winning the Second, First, Cup, League Cup and Cup Winner's Cup in, what, 6 years? And at the famous 'C*** up club' itself.
Or the bumpkin, Clough. Did it occur to him to keep Derby and Forest down. And double the prices instead of going up. But no. Promotion and the title at Derby, then promotion, the League, Europe and Europe again in 4 years at Forest. Why?
Priorities, gentlemen, priorities. Where is your cuddly tiger?
Still, we can comfort ourselves that if they charge us £600 to watch this dross, what will it be in the Premiership itself, as we soar to the Champions League?
I had a strong incentive to renew, even at £600. Because our seats were superb.
But they kicked us out. They may not be tough with the opposition, against whom their signings struggle to score half the time, but they're certainly tough with the supporters.
Way to go, guys. That's how to run a football club.

I think this bothers a lot of people Steve.
It's outrageous behavior and shows the clubs utter contempt for us all.
I would love to know how many season tickets have been sold so far...Funny how the leaks are thin on the ground unlike last year when we practically had a weekly updates from WAGRB...

Maybe people should pay a price according to if you think certain spendings were good.
If you don't want to pay for Borrowdale's wages, then you don't have to: Your ticket is reduced.
If you object to paying off Dowe, again a reduction.
If you think the salary going to Paladini is excessive, another cut
And so on.
Sort of a sister philosophy to "From each according to...

The lowered prices schould be year round. They are di....ng with us. If we get in 15 ooo theyllt spend more. What a stupid ploy. Must be Flav. As I said in much earlier post some people like to create enemies subconsciously, gives them a sense of power, especially when the Viagra dose gets bigger. Well maybe it isnt flav but some money men he uses.

I think of those successful managers who were very undemonstrative during games. The ones who never smiled or shouted or complained whatever was happening. Just stood there with folded arms, keeping their thoughts to themselves. Maybe it was affectation. Or psychological warfare. Or they were simply lost in concentration.
But now I'm inclined to think they were realists. Only one thing mattered, the hardest thing. To win. Winning solved all the other problems, as long as you could keep it up. You could redesign the Ground, spend money, have all the PR you liked, but without winning, nobody cared.
You may remember Bill Nicholson never had a contract, londonranger. Asked why, he said there was no point. "Your only security is your talent". He was right. If you were good, every Club would be falling over itself to get you. And you'd be paid, no need to worry about that. But if you weren't a winner, a contract wouldn't keep you in the job.
Football is, as they say, an easy game. Each time a new investor comes along, give them a few days, a week or so, and they suddenly start talking about the Ground. This lot did, Paladini did, Blackburn & Co did, Wright - maybe not Thompson, groundsharing was very tainted at the time - but Gregory did, and his predecessors. Remember White City? Best day of my life as an Rs supporter, I think, coming back to LR after the Great White Elephant.
But as soon as I hear someone say we need this sort of ground, I smile. Winning is very hard to do. At any Club, it would take up all your time. And anyone who has time to worry about the Ground before they've got their feet under the table suspects - or knows - that they're not a winner.
We know this. They don't, it seems. So it isn't surprising that the Board and the Supporters fall out very quickly.
Strange that you might have gone to Fulham or Brentford, londonranger. I went the other way, in a manner of speaking. My dad was a northerner, loved football, but didn't support any Club, so he took me to Fulham one week (Haynes et al) and Chelsea the next (Greaves, Venables, Les Allen & Co). Eventually, I rebelled, because I was bored. I didn't support these teams - couldn't really understand why anyone would support any team - so I insisted on going to QPR instead.
5 minute walk to the Ground, and back in time for Dr Who! But entering Loftus Road was love at first sight. Hidden behind the veil of spin and PR, my impression is that the 'investors' don't really know who they are.
We do, though. And that makes us rather difficult to handle. They're used to customers, employees, partners, rivals. We're none of those things. They don't own us, they don't pay us, and they depend on our money.
Sometimes, I almost feel sorry for them.

Remember Ray Harford getting axed by Luton reportedly cos he didn't smile!
But the club doesn't really care who comes to see QPR as someone buys the tickets. So fans per se arent really important

I will not be renewing. My reasons well, I would have if they had done the right thing to begin with. Now bear in mind it is no longer cost affective for me to renew, my job has changed dramatically meaning I now finnish much later, making it hard to get to LR, almost impossible if there are train or underground problems ect. I would have still done it though as I did for this season. I still dont think they have done enough, the reduction is minimum and the extention a joke considering that for many that though they would not make the cut off first time will have used the money already so in effect still have only 1 pay day to find it ( if they had known sooner they would most likely have saved over the 2 ).
I have been part of One QPR fighting on the price issue, I do not for one second put there new stance down to us, that is pr bull, if they had taken what we were saying on board 1 they would have done things sooner 2 they would have done a better job with the extention of the early bird 3 they would have looked for better options for credit payments All or any would have made a difference for me and I dare say many others.
I am sad to lose my seat, although I have never actually sat in it! I do not think I will have a problem getting tickets next season up in the Q block anyway but I do have the option now of going or not if that is the case.
I will do more aways as I will pick my leave around it.
Who loses out, me a bit as I am gutted to not continue my long standing season ticket, but just what did that get me anyhow? The club as I will spend less at the ground..big loser as I spend a fortune when I go. No win No WIn.
