I'm with you on this. Hopefully Buzz can remain injury free and team up with Diakite in MF

The real problem imo is not just who to give the armband ... but to find in our squad a competent midfield player who can play in Barton's place. Today he did not even put himself in 50-50 tackles ...

I think we all need to look at the big picture with Joey Barton when he is on the pitch. We are all slating him off for the odd missed pass now and again but we are not talking about the things that don't happen because actually his presence stops this from happening.
I think Tarabat should now be taking most of corners and free kicks as it is obvious to see he is far better delivery than joey but apart from that Joey Barton for me apart from the sending off has done a good job.
He is all over the pitch in peoples faces so come on give him a break, what do you expect wonder goals and super defence splitting balls every time .
Maybe I'm watching the wrong game from the South Africa since most people on here will probably disagree with me, so Joey keep it up son.

His free kicks and corners are a load of toss.

Yesterday he gave Wolves so much room when we were defending. It's one of the main reasons we scored. I think after Cisse's red he didn't want to make any hard tackles in case we went down to 9.

He said on Twitter the other day he got his first night's sleep without interruption from the baby. I woldnt be surprised if sleep deprivation is effecting his concentration.

He said on Twitter the other day he got his first night's sleep without interruption from the baby. I woldnt be surprised if sleep deprivation is effecting his concentration. Well, I guess he could use that as an excuse. When my kids were small, including one a baby, l was doing a job which was a lot more concentrated than any footballer had and I suffered from sleep deprivation big time! Still did my job efficiently though. As a matter of interest I was talking to a mate last evening who is a Newcastle fanatic. I said "Would you like to have Joey Barton back?" His answer ............... "No way!" Hmmmmm.

None of us want to knock any player that gives 100%.
Barton came to us with a reputation that he was a tough no nonsense good footballer. Just after joining there was all that guff from Joey about his England potential....but that was from Joey so perhaps I've started to believe his own publicity.
I'd expected Barton to be a bit of a 'nasty player', the player you love if he plays for you and hate if he's on the opposing team.
I'd expected a good passer of the ball but even more a 'screamer' on the pitch. A man that would inspire other players with his enthusiasm and commitment.
But I don't see it (or hear it).
At the moment I find it difficult to defend Barton and hope that Mark Hughes will get more from him

he is as lambeth said doing a sterling job and i defend him totally. he has no doubt been tlod to tone it down which is going to reflect on his play , i mean lets face it he has already been sent off for invisible face contact and the refereeing in this league is unbelievably bad at the best of times and barton is an easy cop out for refs as he has an old reputation .lets face it everytime he commits a foul how many think he will get sent off, thats the problem at the moment. i am sure once we got enough quality midfielders that can cover suspensions then joet will be told to put himself about a bit more.

I reckon he should have a couple of beers before the game, so he can get good and nasty.
