How are WE doing?
Plymouth Official Site - FANS' NIGHT CANCELLED
ARGYLE have been forced to cancel their traditional supporters' end-of-season awards evening because of a lack of interest from the Green Army.
The various branches of the Argyle Supporters' Club usually present their player-of-the-season awards at the evening, which normally takes place after the final home game of the season.
However, with the Pilgrims fighting a Championship relegation battle this season, the decision was made to bring the evening forward to after the penultimate home game against Doncaster this Saturday.
Just 33 supporters had bought tickets for the event so, with only a few days left before the scheduled night, it has been called off.
Chief executive Michael Dunford said: "We are sorry but, with so few people buying tickets for the supporters' end-of-season awards evening, we had no alternative but to cancel it.
"It simply was not financially viable to run the event under such circumstances, and the atmosphere would have been extremely downbeat."
Supporters' club representatives will still be able to present their chosen player with their association's award.
"We have arranged for the supporters' groups to meet up with their chosen player at a suitable time and place to present their award," said Mr Dunford.
The club's main Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards will be presented on the pitch before the Pilgrims' final home game of the season against Barnsley on Sunday, May 3.
At the same time, the club will make its own awards to the Supporter of the Season, to Commerce & Industry, Community and an Award of Merit.
