Despise them, despise the fact most Man Utd fans have never been within a mile of Manchester.

i dont hate them at all, i dont even mind their fans who support from afar,
manu are a brand, and have done very well as a brand and a football club, the fans who never go to matches are part of that branding,
they don't bother me, why should they.

Not as much as when I was younger...But many of my hates have declined...I used to hate "Lucky" Arsenal - especially when they won the Double in 1971...G-d they were lucky.
I used to hate that people used to think that George Best was better than Rodney Marsh...
I laughed when they went down under Tommy Docherty with an almost all-Scottish team...
I always favoured Liverpool, LEEDS!, Man City, Everton, Newcastle, Spurs over Man Ut.
But the hatred has cooled

No problem with them at all many of my best friends are United supporters we have even been to Old Trafford together over the years and only once did i ever experience any problems there in the 80's. A tad of jealousy maybe , nothing more .

I would love to see them turn into a mid table team under glaziers, who knows they may have to sell Rooney due to an unforeseen early exit in Champions league. Fingers crossed

Certainly it was a great couple of decades - and Man U "Fans" probably never knew - when MU didn't win the Championship after 1967-68...
And Ron Atkinson's Man Ut throwing away a massive lead at top of Division One...Sadly those days have ended...But Man Ut winning trophies is far, far less hurtful than seeing Chelsea do it!

Nope. I don't hate anybody or any team. There is too much hate in the world without it coming into sport. Sure, I always like to see Manure beaten and would love to see them get their 'comeuppance' one day and yes, Mac, I too laughed when they were relegated. Sorry, but hate is too strong a word for me by half.

Until recently a lot more than I did C*****a. That this has changed is no reflection on United.
My "dislike" pre-dates Munich (though I have no memory of what started this passion). It was further increased by Roy of the Rovers winning everything as I always thought that Melchester Rovers were based upon them!
These days the pair of these awful clubs share first position for being most loathed. Closely followed by the club just off of the M40 in South Bucks.

As he's got older and mellowed a little I've kinda started to appreciate Fergie's achievements, possibly because I see a bit of him in Warnock. Still love to see them lose though.

Not really. Like the way they play and quite like Fergie and I think there are worse clubs out there. Only clubs I hate are Chelsea, and very recently Norwich.

I`m totally with Gramps and Maudes on this, though it seems we are in a small minority among fans generally. To be honest, I don`t even hate Chelsea, not really- some of their fans are lovely people, like my teaching assistant colleague in the east end who`s brilliant with special needs kids. Why would I hate her just because she has a Chelsea season ticket (and has supported them all her life)? IS she "scum"? And their players are just- players. If we`re honest we know that almost any QPR player would probably play for Chelsea given the chance. Would SWP not have gone back there if they`d wanted him? And I always thought Zola, for example, seemed a charming fellow- why should I hate him just because I support Rangers? I saw an interview with Mata recently and he seemed very likeable, too, hardly someone I`d want to yell "scum!" at.
I see a parallel with patriotism and nationalism. To me, being proud of your country is healthy and good, but the moment that turns into contempt or hatred of other countries, it become pure poison. Man U, for example, may have many "plastic" fans, but they also have thousands from Manchester, and what a history they have, as a club from one of England`s greatest industrial cities. To deny that is plain stupid. And of course they were small once, like every club.
I would have us ROAR Rangers on even when we`re 5 down to MK Dons, but don`t buy into the poisonous hatred that many fans enjoy. I reserve that for a select band of real tyrants, thieves and murderers.

Always had a healthy dislike of Fergie.Couldnt stomach his arrogance. His pressure on referees, his mind games with other managers.Remember poor old Kev cracking up on telly Worst of all I hated the extra ,extra Fergie time afforded to Uniited when they needed a late goal Mind you I dislike Big Sam more for brown nosing old Red Nose. And Ive got to say I jumped up in the air when old Ole Gunner got that late one against Bayern cos my dislike of the arrogant Germans eclipsed my dislike of the arrogant Fergie

For me, I never experienced the days of 'hating' Man U. Sure a lot of sheep followed them during my school days but did they ever smell the grass at Loftus Road or experience real football? I am in a football sense much richer than they are. They may have won more cups that I can rememember but I've seen Loftus Road not via BBC/ITV/SKY/ESPN but by being there.
I do not like Chelsea, completely irrational I know but everything they do from their players, supporters and the way they (now with Man C) have financially screwed up the working mans game. But that's another subject. Do I 'hate' Man U.....no!

I admire Man Utd for the empire they've built over the decades, largely thanks to the genius of Sir Alex. They breed a fair chunk of their talent and compared to other big wigs *cough cough Chelsea! cough Man City!* they don't try to buy a premiership.

Man Utd. are just another football club.
Just another opposition.
I have an indifference to all the other football clubs, without them we'd have no-one to play and the bigger they are the harder they fall, so whilst beating the so called bigger clubs can sometimes be sweeter so can a hard fought 1-0 against a lower league side when we play well.
Hate is only reserved for the true scum of this world: murderers, rapists, C*****a and other such low lifes.

Hate them, always have, always will, although that has mellowed out in the last few years, now its more a case of not being bothered by football in general, rather than hating that lot any less.
Hate all of the media B*llocks about Fergie greatest manager of alltime & the amount of Fergie media sycophants that push this line in the UK press, hate the amount of referee's / officials Fergie has in his back pocket, it is cheating, simple as that, & more than anything else I hate the so called "fans" that "support" this club, biggest losers you have ever seen in your life that somehow think that "supporting" or wearing a Manchester United piece of merchandise somehow validates their miserable little lives, hate so many things about this football club, Bayern Munich & Ajax have both won more European Cups than "The Biggest Club In The World" so have Barca, Milan, Liverpool & Madrid, but their fans wouldnt know it, their "fans" show they dont even know who their greatest ever player was when they voted for Eric Cantona of all people a few years back, I could name ten better United players than Eric Cantona off the top of my head, hate is a strong word, but that is the way I feel, & I'm not the only one!

Personally I reserve 99% of my "hatred" (or "dislike" as some of you gentle men prefer to call it ! ) for that lot down the road.
They are the PROPER enemy, particuarly for us older fanatics. We "hated" them even when they had no money and were struggling in the old 2nd Division!
The game this season and our 1-0 victory was initially due in no small way to the "bear pit" intimidation eminating from our fans (yes the wonderful Mr Foy played his part later in the piece). Predominantly those fans that had waited the long 15 years to vent their feelings about THAT club. The image of Mata as he went to take a corner, visibly shaken at the venomous vitriol directed towards him and his team. David Luiz, the other foreign imports and the younger players were bemused and intimidated in equal measures. Even John "turns like an oil tanker" Terry and Fat Frank had underestimated the strength of feeling and this definitely contributed to their frustration and indisciplined performance. If ever a crowd became the 12th man it was that day !!
Furthermore their supporters were left in no doubt that whoever they may consider to be their bitterest rivals, WE are the Club (fans) who "hate" them more than any other.
Yes I dislike Fulham, Brentford and Man Ure etc (that other 1%) but ask Mark Bircham, a PROPER QPR fanatic's birthright is to detest THAT Club and those of you that are too young to appreciate this or those that lack this basic understanding should be enlightened to this Fact and embrace it! End Of !
