Does the fact that Hughes pretty much said no to Cisse in his presser yesterday mean nothing to to the papers??
Bad journalism.

Im a Panathinaikos fan as its my heritage and i have to say i fell in love with Cisse when he played for us greens, 65 goals in 80 appearances. wouldnt mind that record being worn in a hoops shirt! Dont know about everyone elses thoughts but id love for cisse to play for my other equally loved club! What about my compatriot, Mr Raimondas Žutautas? Just kidding. We've just sacked him as our national team coach. Do you remember him? Sure do, scored a good goal in the champions league for us if i recall..

LOVING THIS THREAD!!!
Anywho, for me Taraabt was sensational last season and to date hasn't stepped up. Arguably none of our Championship squad have. Before anyone says Buzsaky lets judge him after a number of matches and against tougher opposition. Helguson had already played Premiership football as had Smith. To answer the question that's been raised about where Taraabt fits in, it's either behind the front man or not at all. He isn't an out and out striker and he isn't a winger. He may drift onto the wing but he shouldn't be given the duty of tracking back. For me he would play the Van Der Vaart role. Obviously the Spurs line up changes but the consistent seems to be an enforcer alongside a creater with wide men and VDV behind Adebayor (or Defoe). If Buzsaky plays the Modric role, Barton plays the Parker role, SWP and Traore as Lennon and Bale, Taraabt would be VDV with Helguson ahead of him (or any new striker which may join before Wednesday).

As for Cisse he's actually scored 5 in 27 matches (1 in 17 in Serie A) the others coming from Europa League and a goal the other night against Milan in the Cup. He's been playing right wing and not upfront so you could actually compare his record to SWP to get a fairer picture. Considering Serie A is tougher to score in (statisically fewer goals each season) Cisse's record isn't too shabby after all. Same age as SWP yet he has scored 5 in 27 to SWP's 0 in 19. Cisse has 7 assists to SWP's 3. Play him in the right position and with the right service he'll score goals.
The old saying 'form is temporary...'
From what I've seen, read and heard it's still all there except for he's not playing in a natural position because Klose's in the side.

Exactly, when he played in his favoured striker role when he was at Pana, he scored 30 odd each season. Imagine with that extra touch of quality coming from the midfield that we hold he would be lethal, he also scored 10 goals in 12 matches in the pre season when he was playing striker for lazio, i think hes better than what we have now. He played half a season on loan to sunderland and managed to score 10 with them a couple of seasons ago, so i think the deal wont be too shabby, although 5.5 mill is asking for a little to much...

Blackburn Rovers: We won't be bullied by Samba Saturday 28th January 2012 in By Andy Cryer » www.thisislancashire.co.uk/sport/football/premiership/9498716.Blackburn_Rovers__We_won_t_be_bullied_by_Samba/r/?ref=rss BLACKBURN Rovers are prepared to give want-away skipper Chris Samba the Carlos Tevez treatment after refusing to let the giant defender force his way out of Ewood Park. Having already had a transfer request rejected, Samba has upped the pressure on his employers by insisting it “will be very difficult” for him to play for Rovers again due to him not being “100 per cent” for the club any more. Samba has already missed three games this month since stating his desire to quit Rovers and, as he continues to make waves, is unlikely to be involved in Wednesday’s crucial Premier League visit of Newcastle United. Samba’s latest outburst, given to the Sun yesterday, has infuriated several of his team mates who feel let down by the manner in which their captain is attempting to engineer a move - less than a year after signing a bumper new deal. Owners Venky’s will not let Samba change their stance on his future though and remain adamant the 27-year-old will not leave Ewood this month - unless someone is ready to meet their circa £12million valuation. Relegation rivals QPR remain the only club to have formally bid for Samba this month and, with their offer yet to exceed £7m, are unlikely to get close to tempting Rovers into a sale. Rovers remain hopeful Samba will fully commit to the cause again once the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday but, if he continues to play up, are ready to banish him to Rovers’ reserves, where he has been training. Sources close to Venky’s have told the Lancashire Telegraph Samba’s approach has made them even less likely to buckle and, like Manchester City have done with Carlos Tevez , will play hard ball for as long as they have to. In the interview, Samba accused Venky’s of breaking promises made to him when he signed his last deal and said the club did not meet his ambitions. He called for a face to face meeting with the owners so that they could understand his view and pleaded with them to stop pricing him out of the market. The interview has met with mixed reactions from supporters and former players, with some sympathising with his views and others hitting out at his words. Meanwhile Swiss international right back Scott Sutter was at Brockhall yesterday as he looks to land his dream move to the Premier League from Young Boys of Bern. It is understood Rovers have other options in that position, although sources close to Sutter are confident a move can be finalised. Argentine play maker Mauro Formica’s Rovers future continues to be shrouded in uncertainty after being made ‘available for the right price’ by the club. Greek giants Olympiakos look unlikely to meet Rovers’ £3.5million valuation for him, as Venky’s look for ways to fund Kean’s attempts to bolster his squad, with a striker, a midfielder and two full backs still on the wish list.

BBC - Blackpool sign West Brom striker Roman Bednar
Roman Bednar Bednar ended last season on loan in Turkey with MKE Ankaragucu
Blackpool have signed West Bromwich Albion striker Roman Bednar on a free transfer until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has made only one appearance for the Baggies this season, against Bournemouth in the Carling Cup in August.
Bednar joined West Brom on loan from Scottish Premier League side Hearts in August 2007, before making the move permanent the following June.
The Romanian scored 30 goals in 86 league games for Albion.
He also had loan spells with Leicester City and Turkish side MKE Ankaragucu.

Sky Sports understands Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes is keen on being reunited with Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy. Hughes has made midfield reinforcements his top priority before the close of the transfer window and he is thought to be considering returning to his old club for Murphy. Rangers chief Hughes is a huge admirer of Murphy having worked with him at Craven Cottage last season and sees him as a key addition to his side. Murphy has established himself as a key member of the Fulham side since arriving at Tottenham in 2007 and is club captain. Fulham would not welcome any move for Murphy with Cottagers boss Martin Jol keen to keep hold of the former Liverpool schemer. Murphy is thought to be happy at Fulham and it is unlikely the Cottagers would consider cashing in on the player. www1.skysports.com/football/news/11711/7462631/

I cannot believe, reading through the past couple of pages, that you guys are genuinely not keen on Cisse. the man has scored goals nearly everywhere he has gone, he is pacey, strong and most importantly he is a passionate guy. He will give everything for us and that is exactly what we need in a dogfight. He would quickly become a cult hero, and he WILL score goals for us. He is in a different league to any of the strikers we currently have, and has been very unfortunate in his career with 2 back to back nasty leg breaks. I would snap him up, yes he is 30 and that is the only negative, but he will help us get out of this relegation fight no worries. Get Cisse In!

QPR plan deadline day treble swoop for Bassong, Pienaar and Rodallega Jan 29 2012 by Steve Bates, The People MARK HUGHES is chasing a deadline-busting treble swoop for Tottenham duo Sebastien Bassong and Steven Pienaar as well as Wigan hit-man Hugo Rodallega (left). QPR have already had one bid rejected for South African star Pienaar after failing to meet Tottenham’s £2.5million valuation but they aren’t giving up just yet. New Loftus Road boss Hughes is also looking to strengthen his defence and has targeted Cameroon centre-back Bassong, who hasn’t been able to nail down a regular place at White Hart Lane. Tottenham value Bassong at £1m more than the £3.5m QPR are willing to pay but Hughes hasn’t given up hope a deal can be done before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. Wigan striker Rodallega is looking for a staggering £60,000-a-week contract. The big Colombian is prepared to sit out his contract at Wigan but Latics supremo Dave Whelan is tempted by the chance of selling him for around £6m rather than losing him for nothing. Aston Villa and Fulham have also shown interest in Rodallega, although QPR are closer to his pay demands. Wealthy Anzhi Makhachkala and Spartak Moscow are considering a move for Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. Spurs are willing to off-load the unhappy Russian despite taking up a one-year contract extension on the striker three months ago. www.people.co.uk/sport/football/football-hotline/2012/01/29/qpr-plan-deadline-day-treble-swoop-for-bassong-pienaar-and-rodallega-102039-23724939/

QPR park Moses move until summer Published 12:26 28/01/12 By James Nursey Recommend QPR have put their proposed move for Victor Moses on hold until the summer.
New Rangers boss Mark Hughes is a big fan of the Wigan flyer, signed from Palace in 2010 for £2.5million.
Moses, 21, is yet to agree a new contract at Wigan and plans to consider his options this summer.
QPR nearly tabled a January bid but are now set to firm up their initial interest at the end of the season.

WIGAN’S Hugo Rodallega will be one of the most-wanted players before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday. That’s because the Colombia striker is out of contract in the summer and Latics chairman Dave Whelan faces losing him then for nothing. Boss Roberto Martinez could, therefore, be tempted to accept a fee now in the region of £4million. Rodallega, 26, cost Wigan £4.5million three years ago from Mexican club Necaxa – and during that time his valuation has doubled. Meanwhile, Arsenal Liverpool, Everton, Stoke City, Sunderland and QPR are all known to be interested in him. www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/232673/It-s-red-alert-over-Wigan-s-Hugo-Rodallega/

TOTTENHAM are involved in a pre-deadline clear-out which could enable Harry Redknapp to make a major signing before the transfer window closes on Tuesday. They are talking to QPR about a deal which would take winger Steven Pienaar, 29, and central defender Sebastien Bassong, 25, to Loftus Road. That double deal would bring in a combined fee of £6million and Spurs are also in negotiations with Spanish club Villarreal for the sale of Giovani dos Santos. The Mexico and former Barcelona striker, 22, would cost £6.5m. And another centre-forward – £9m-rated Roman Pavlyuchenko – could also be on the move with Russian clubs Anzhi and Spartak Moscow interested. Pavlyuchenko, 30, has also been linked with Sunderland. Meanwhile, full-back Vedran Corluka could also be on the way out at White Hart Lane, while midfielder Tom Carroll has joined Derby on loan. Spurs boss Redknapp hopes to be able to pursue one of his own top targets if the outgoing deals go through. One of them is Brazil striker Leandro Damiao, 22, but his club – Internacional – are now demanding £24m. Spurs also face competition from Carlo Ancelotti’s mega-rich PSG. Away from the transfer activity, White Hart Lane chief Harry Redknapp believes the club have a golden chance to win the FA Cup. One of the reasons is Younes Kaboul in the heart of the Spurs defence – one of very few players to escape Redknapp’s anger after they narrowly edged Championship side Watford by a Rafael van der Vaart goal in their Fourth Round tie at Vicarage Road on Friday night. Too many Tottenham players had an off night and Watford constantly ripped into their defence. It needed Kaboul to again prove he is more than just a stand-in. And Redknapp said: “Thankfully Kaboul was in form because this was not the Tottenham side I see every week. Now I think we have a good chance of winning the Cup this year.” www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/232685/Harry-Redknapp-Tottenham-clear-out-spells-exit-for-Pienaar/

OK two days what do we think will happen....Diakite seems to be goer and he doesn't need wp, clearly Pienaar is on the radar and a striker must be for sure but who (i'm on the Rodallega bandwagon), Samba seems unlikely so do we go for Bassong/Collins etc (Onuoha looked quite small in warm up yesterday but Parker was smaller). Feel good about fullback at last LB Taiwo/Traore & RB Young/Onuoha...CB is perhaps still thin with Ferdinand and I presume Onuoha is now next choice but if young was injured or either of Anton or Nedum we'd be looking to perming one from Gabbidon/Hall/Connolly/Hill.

There's cake...And then there's icing... ANd who knows how big the budget truly is.
BUt if we don't a couple of strikers (main one and back up) I think everything else is nice, but we'll still go down...Need goalscoring. Relying on Helguson who may break down any second...
