How do most of you guys rate Gomes? Spurs fans seem to loath the leaky goals and poor decisions making at time. At other times he can be spectacular. Better option than Kenny right now?

Alex still in the balance ?? 17/01/2012 by David McIntyre Mark Hughes will resume talks with Chelsea defender Alex on Wednesday and believes QPR are on course to clinch the signing of Brazilian striker Henrique. Speaking after Rangers’ FA Cup victory against MK Dons – his first win since taking over at Loftus Road – Hughes confirmed he is trying to persuade Alex to sign, and that the bid to bring Sao Paulo prospect Henrique to west London “seems to be progressing”. Hughes added: “Talks [with Alex] are ongoing. I’ve spoken to him and told him my feelings towards him as a player. “It’s a big decision for him. We’re trying to get things finalised and get over the line with it. “The hope is that we’ll get deals done sooner rather than later, but I can’t say for sure whether it’ll be sooner at the moment.” More to follow www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-boss-to-continue-alex-talks/

Tuesday, Jan 17 2012 QPR's interest water under the Bridge as Hoops are put off by left back's wages By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 10:35 PM on 17th January 2012 Wayne Bridge's career is still in limbo after QPR cooled their interest in the Manchester City misfit. Sportsmail revealed this month that Rangers were keen on taking the left back on loan to replace Armand Traore, who is on Africa Cup of Nations duty for Senegal. But since Mark Hughes became QPR manager his £95,000-a-week wages are seen as a problem. Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2088065/QPR-cool-Wayne-Bridge.html#ixzz1jl8nUWHE

EXCLUSIVE: QPR target Spurs keeper Gomes Danny Baker has a great line about Gomes in goal against a Torres penalty and how the law of physics means that the ball would stop mid-way, since Gomes could not possibly save it, and Torres could not possibly score.

One minute fantastic against difficult shots the next soft goals , i would rather we worry about getting a midfielder , 2 defenders and a striker in than ny goalkeeper just now , Paddy can keep us up .

www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/1470/51/qpr-lead-chase-lazio-starMauro Zarate is being hunted by Mark Hughes as the new QPR boss seeks to kickstart his Loftus Road revolution. Hughes is eager to bring in more firepower and sources in Italy claim he has set his sights on Lazio star Zarate, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan. It appears, however, that Lazio are open to the prospect of selling Zarate in the transfer window and that has alerted Hughes, who will be backed by investment from majority shareholder Tony Fernandes. The striker has experience of English football from his time at Birmingham and Newcastle, and was linked with a move to Arsenal last summer. Bolton are also thought to be monitoring the situation. Zarate, 24, is understood to be keen on a return to England although Lazio are hoping that interest from numerous Premier League clubs will help push his price up. QPR boss Mark Hughes confirms talks with Chelsea's Alex & is hoping to conclude deal for Sao Paulo sensation Henrique The new boss at Loftus Road, who saw his side beat MK Dons to reach the FA Cup fourth round, was delighted with his team's effort after Danny Gabbidon's late headed goal After watching his side defeat MK Dons to set up an FA Cup fourth round tie with Chelsea, QPR boss Mark Hughes revealed that he has held talks with Brazilian defender Alex, as well as confirming the club are close to concluding a deal for Sao Paulo starlet Henrique Danny Gabbidon's late headed goal was enough for the hosts to win the FA Cup third round replay at Loftus Road and Hughes admits that he is looking to add some new faces to his squad as soon as possible. "Things are ongoing, I've been busy this evening obviously," he said. "But the hope is that we can get number of the deals done. Ideally that would be sooner rather than later but I can't tell you if that's going to happen anytime soon. "I think talks [with Alex] are ongoing. I spoke to the boy yesterday and went through what we're trying to do here and my feelings towards him as a player. I have a huge regard for what he could do for us here. Things have to fall into place before you can get the player over the line. Until I get an update, that's as much as I know. "We'll digest what's gone on today and look back at the game in more detail and what we need to improve on, then decisions will be made. It's early days and the players are still trying to impress so that will continue for a number of weeks, I'm sure. "[The Henrique transfer] seems to be progressing, we're hoping to conclude that. He's the type of player it would be good to attract to the club if we can. Those are the type that can sustain you in the future so if we do those deals I think that will help us." The hosts were on the back foot for much of the match against MK Dons and could easily have gone out but were rescued that fate after Gabbidon's late header sent them through. "The players are still learning in terms of what I want from them and vice versa so it's still very, very early days but I'm encouraged by the fact that they're trying to make things happen," Hughes added. "They've got a great attitude. They stuck at it - if they've given me everything that they've got - which they certainly did tonight - then I've got no complaints. "Obviously in terms of what we actually produced and the quality we need to play consistently well - that wasn't evident tonight, but certainly on Sunday I thought we put a good shift in, and on the strength of that performance and the result today they will be more confident at the weekend. "And I think that is the big issue for us at the moment, the lack of confidence which is understandable given the run the team's been on. "[Confidence is] very important. In terms of our performance, it wasn't anywhere near what we produced against Newcastle, in fairness. "But it was a little bit unfair [on the team] playing on a Sunday and then on a Tuesday and I think that showed in our lack of sharpness. "Credit to the MK Dons who were full of running and passed the ball really well, really crisply. They were moving us around the pitch and it was a hard night for us. But we stuck at it. "I thought the tempo of our play was a bit laboured and we needed to quicken that up. We maybe weren't quite as dynamic as I expected us to be today which is understandable given the workload we've had in the past 48 hours. "I think that in general play, that's understandable - when a team's playing well you see them trying things and players clearly in the flow of the match and enjoying the experience. At the moment it's a little bit heavy going for us and that's a confidence thing. "But I think that will improve. I've been here just over a week and I'm pleased with what they've given me but we can do better." Hughes finished fielding a question about the return of Thierry Henry and Paul Scholes by joking that he "still had his boots" but "they need a hell of a clean". www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=qpr&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CDsQqQIwAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.goal.com%2Fen-gb%2Fnews%2F2900%2Ffa-cup%2F2012%2F01%2F17%2F2852475%2Fqpr-boss-mark-hughes-confirms-talks-with-chelseas-alex-is-hoping-&ei=ljkWT8G0GoSu8gPwhrTfAg&usg=AFQjCNHxTkZz-POS3wTTg_8HSikzFtKH5A

This is Wales Cardiff City poised to make bid for QPR striker Jamie Mackie By Terry Phillips Jan 18 2012 CARDIFF CITY boss Malky Mackay could be ready to make a swoop for Queens Park Rangers front man Jamie Mackie, WaleS Onlinecan reveal. Mackie is one of several QPR players who may be on their way out of Loftus Road after Mark Hughes took over from Neil Warnock as manager. Former Bluebirds ace Jay Bothroyd, who won England honours while shining for the club last season, is another whose future seems unclear. While Bothroyd would bring extra quality to a Bluebirds squad pushing for a Carling Cup/promotion double in 2012, he is unlikely to fit manager Mackay’s profile of the sort of man he wants to bolster his promotion-chasing team. We’re told Mackie, on the other hand, is the sort of player Mackay is interested in because he believes he can offer the flair out wide that would take the creative pressure off Peter Whittingham. Mackie, 26, who can play up top or on the wing, was QPR’s top scorer in their promotion season last year before breaking his leg against Blackburn in the FA Cup. His ability to shine on the flank is interesting Mackay, who has put recruiting that sort of figure as his number one priority in this January transfer window. Mackay has already had a £400,000 offer for Brighton’s Craig Noone rejected and could yet go back with an improved bid. But the sudden availability of £1.5m-rated Mackie has put Mackay and a number of other Championship managers on alert. Cardiff and QPR each have Malaysian chairmen – Dato Chan Tien Ghee and Tony Fernandes – and the Bluebirds believe that could help them as the chase for Mackie hots up. Mackie has made 12 Premier League appearances for QPR this season, scoring two goals including the equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Swansea. But Mackie is not thought to figure in the plans of former Wales manager Hughes, who is planning big changes in his bid to keep QPR in the Premier League. Hughes is set to release at least five players over the next two weeks to make way for new signings before the transfer window closes. Mackie has shown great desire and commitment since returning from injury and the Bluebirds will certainly have had reports on his form and fitness this season. Mackay is currently in Malaysia, discussing the way forward for the Bluebirds, including who can be purchased this month to bolster the squad. The City boss revealed he has invited Malaysia under-23 coach Ong Kim Swee over to Wales for a brief period, where the will be part of Mackay’s backroom team. “It will give him a chance to watch us coach and vice versa,†said Mackay. The City boss returns to Britain tomorrow to prepare his side for Saturday’s home clash with Portsmouth. *The kick-off for Cardiff’'s Championship home match against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday, March 10 has been put back to 5.20pm, the on Sky. www.walesonline.co.uk/cardiffonline/cardiff-football/2012/01/18/cardiff-city-poised-to-make-bid-for-qpr-striker-jamie-mackie-91466-30143814/#ixzz1jnZtzLTD

Blackburn’s Samba: I’m not a traitorPublished on Wednesday 18 January 2012 09:32 www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_s_samba_i_m_not_a_traitor_1_4152502Blackburn captain Chris Samba insists his loyalty to the football club cannot be questioned, but feels now is the time for a new challenge. The centre-back, who last February signed a new contract, handed in a transfer request on Monday. Samba has been linked with many clubs in the past and in the last month it has been suggested Paris St-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers are keen on signing the 27-year-old. The latter are believed to have had two bids turned down on Thursday. The defender claims he could have left Ewood Park in the past but now feels the time is right to move on and does not think that decision should be held against him. “In my five years at Blackburn, I have always given 100% in every game I have played,” said Samba. “I have had several opportunities to leave but I have always stayed. “I have decided now is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge and I have asked the club to respect my decision and allow me to leave. “I thank the fans for their support and I hope they feel I have served them and their club well.” The defender’s decision to make an official request to leave came as no surprise after he gave an interview to a French newspaper, saying the club – who have been struggling near the bottom of the Premier League all season – “doesn’t evolve at all”, that “things have not gone as I was told” and he felt it was “time for a change”. Manager Steve Kean has stressed Samba is not for sale but the player’s transfer request may force his hand. The Scot has enough issues to deal with, including a relegation battle and fans’ protests, without having to tackle the prospect of dressing room unrest. At the weekend Kean insisted Samba had withdrawn from the Rovers squad to face Fulham with illness. After victory over the Cottagers, Kean spoke of his hope the defender would be available to face Everton this weekend, but that seems highly unlikely with Samba angling for a move within the next fortnight. “I have personally informed the owners, manager and executives at the club that I want to leave in this transfer window,” the Congolese defender said. www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_s_samba_i_m_not_a_traitor_1_4152502 BELFAST TELEGRAPH/Ian Herbert
Blackburn Rovers tell Samba he can sit in stands rather than leave Steve Kean, the Blackburn Rovers manager, has told Queen's Park Rangers that his club are prepared to let captain Christopher Samba sit in the stands, rather than sell him.Kean's private comments came in the last month and will have done little to enhance a relationship which has become so difficult that the defender yesterday had to track the manager down in the coaches' office at Rovers' Brockhall training centre and demand a meeting – hours before the club officially declared his transfer request had been turned down. The Congolese defender had arrived with friends at Brockhall for a light training session yesterday, with no formal training scheduled. He felt that Kean was avoiding him, by delaying the discussion he had asked for, and then went to seek the manager out. When the two men finally spoke, Samba is understood to have explained that he felt the club had broken a promise by failing to invest for a push for a Europa League place – as he had been told they would last summer. But Rovers fear that any money they recoup from their most saleable asset will go straight to paying off a £10m bank debt, and that appears to have influenced their resolve to refuse the transfer request he tabled on Monday. Even if the demand had been granted, neither QPR nor Tottenham would go near the £18m Rovers have been quoting. A compromise £12m figure is possible if Samba digs his heels in, though even that may be prohibitive. Samba's preference is to leave for Paris Saint-Germain. He has close family in the city and often returns there during free periods. But the French side already have five centre-halves in their squad and he is not on new coach Carlo Ancelotti's list. There is no evidence that Samba's decision to place a transfer request has created any friction with his team-mates at the club. Rovers declared through their website yesterday that the transfer request had been turned down. "Blackburn reiterate that Samba is not for sale," the club said. "The player signed a new contract with the club less than a year ago which runs to June 2015." Samba said: "In my five years at Blackburn I have always given 100 per cent. I have had several opportunities to leave but I have always stayed." www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/premiership/blackburn-rovers-tell-samba-he-can-sit-in-stands-rather-than-leave-16105213.html?r=RSS#ixzz1jnp8BRaX

Mark Hughes, the Queens Park Rangers manager, is considering whether to make a third bid for the Blackburn Rovers central defender Chris Samba, who issued a transfer request on Monday. Blackburn are thought to want at least £12m, although QPR will baulk at paying more than £10m for the 27-year-old. But with a £3.5m deal for Chelsea's Alex near completion, Hughes is conscious that if he can also land Manchester City's Nedum Onuoha – an offer of £4m has been tabled amid interest from Everton – Samba may not be required. The Welshman is also aware that Tottenham Hotspur retain an interest in Samba, although Harry Redknapp is yet to make an offer. QPR have already had offers of £3.5m and £4m, made under Hughes's predecessor Neil Warnock, turned down but the Lancashire club are heavily in debt and need to raise funds. Venky's, the owners, have also noted last weekend's 3-1 win over Fulham by a Rovers side that was without Samba, who claimed he was ill. www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jan/18/qpr-blackburn-rovers-chris-samba?CMP=twt_gu

QPR TARGET £12M MAURO ZARATE ABOVE: Mauro Zarate played for Birmingham 18th January 2012 QPR have made an offer for £12m rated Inter Milan striker Mauro Zarate. Zarate is on loan at Inter from Lazio but has failed to impress at the San Siro. The striker is said to be looking for a new challenge and would welcome a return to the Barclays Premier League. He scored four goals in 14 appearances while on loan at Birmingham in 2008 before moving to Lazio. QPR meanwhile have reached an agreement with Sao Paulo for Brazilian striker Henrique. The clubs are now in discussions over whether Rangers take Henrique on loan initially or buy him outright. The transfer is subject to a work permit being received for the 20-year-old, who has yet to make his senior Brazil debut. Henrique, who was voted player of the tournament at last summer's Under-20 World Cup in Colombia, has already hailed the prospect of joining QPR as "a fantastic opportunity". www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/230859/QPR-target-12m-Mauro-Zarate/

Sign Alex. Pair him with Ferds in central defence.
Get Onouha. Pair him with Barton in MF once Traore returns and play him at LB in the meantme.
Withdraw Samba bid.
Use Samba money to offer Spurs whatever it takes to get Defoe.
Sell Mackie to Cardiff and bring in Muntari on loan.
Get work permit for Enrique.
Loan out Bothroyd and DJ.
That'd be my to do list.
